I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my friend Tracy K. after an intense hot yoga session nearby. Parking was a bit tricky but after a few rounds around the block, we were able to find a spot. This place was packed! We were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait for a table so we sat down to wait. It seems like, as soon as we sat down, we were called to be seated. Our server was friendly and attentive. We got our necessary cups of coffee and looked over the menu. There were so many good options to choose from! I went with the Salmon Eggs Benedict with fruit on the side, instead of potatoes, and their signature strawberry orange juice. The juice was amazing! Freshly squeezed goodness! The eggs were delicious as well. Tracy ordered an egg scramble which she loved too. After we were done, we were asked if we wanted some coffee 'to go'. I came to this location during winter break with my cousins and sisters and as expected it was pretty busy. So I assumed that there would be a long wait to get a table but within 10 mins the staff had a table ready for us. Reasonably priced, great options, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere! I can't believe I've never reviewed Egg Harbor! I've been here so many times! I've never had anything I didn't like. They have a poblano cheese soup that is out of this world!!! I usually go for a skillet. I've tried so many and I've never not liked them. I've also had the benedict, the tuna melt (which I only ever tuna from here or home), shrimp and grits (wasn't a fan. Too bland). I really enjoy the black currant iced tea. It's my all time fave. This past weekend though I had some coffee and it was really good. I was able to drink it black with sugar only. I never do that so you know it's good coffee. If you haven't been and you should stop in! Stopped by and tried breakfast at Egg Harbor and when we got there we were told it would be about five minutes and in less time than that we were seated. Right away Tyler offered the specials and also drinks as flavored coffee. He was polite and helpful all the time we were there. We tried the dynamite veggie omelette and bacado omelette and both were good. Tyler did come around to check on us and didn't rush us out. This is our go to place for brunch in the burbs. Very cozy on the inside, service is fast, and the food is delicious. Never had a dish I did not like. The portions are good. We all had something different so that we can taste everything (4 of us) first plate was the french toast they were tasty and very nice size, the carnitas skillet was super good (getting that for myself next time) the chicken and toast sandwich was delicious and the potatoes OMG, and lastly we had the meat skillet which was well portioned and tasty, everything was delicious, The only thing was the coffee was too strong for my liking, we are excited to go back and try some more dishes, oh and that Jam You have to try it Absolutely obsessed with it. read more

This place was fantastic. We were visiting from out of town and went for breakfast on a Saturday and liked it so much, we came back on Sunday. Their breakfast skillets were great, with perfectly cooked eggs on top and served with an English muffin with homemade jam. What separates this place from others is the little things. They had a pitcher of ice water on the table when you're seated. They have every condiment you could need on the table already. The server asks you if you want your iced tea or coffee in a to-go cup when you're finished. So today, I went to egg harbor with a good friend of mine. I was highly disappointed. Our server was great but the food not so much. Usually when I come here everything is great. Today I ordered the waffle combo and a side of harbor potatoes. I ordered my eggs over easy and they came out medium well. My bacon was basically raw and floppy. My potatoes were almost raw I barely ate any. Aside from the food the service is still great but I'm extremely disappointed in the food. There are plenty of breakfast options in and around Elmhurst, IL. Please be sure to try one of those restaurants and exhaust each and every resource (including fast food) possible before settling on this Egg Harbor Cafe. We were seated right away, no wait thankfully. However, upon ordering our food, it took an hour to be served. It took me asking our server about our order for her to realize she never put the order in. So 45 minutes went by with absolutely nothing. From there it took another 20 minutes to receive our order. What they brought us was a visibly rushed poorly made breakfast. My fiancée's eggs were cold and rubbery. My skillet was Luke warm and the shredded cheese on top wasn't melted. The manager was kind of enough to comp the meal, but it was too late at that point. I assure you, as a reader of this post, you will find better options elsewhere. read more

I've been to this location a half-dozen times now and the food is consistently good, both from their breakfast & lunch offerings. But yesterday I had the BEST chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. It was their Door County Melt and it took all my will power to save half to have as lunch the next day. The chicken salad contained in this grilled sandwich also had chopped apples, cranberries and pecans. Amazing. All of the breakfast items I've tried are good and their soups are delicious (the Tomato Bisque is my fave). I'm not a big fan of their mini-potato pancakes...to me they are hit or miss on how well they are cooked. The service is decent - quick and to the point. They've got the right formula. I had the special (whole wheat pancakes filled with apples and pecans, two eggs and four sausage). Plenty of food. The hot green tea isn't so good. 4 1/2 stars!!! I was trying to kill some time between landing at O'Hare and going to Ikea and Elmhurst was on the way. So I decided to check out the well reviewed Egg Harbor Cafe. Be minded when traveling there, due to York street turning into a one way, and no left turns off Robert Palmer, getting into the lot can be a bit tricky. Yet, it's worth it. Parking lot offers free 3 hour parking for patrons. I was greeted and seated right away. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The decor is old fashioned like granny's house, but it didn't bother me. I bet some call it "homey". They serve breakfast and lunch here - I, of course, opted for breakfast. Harbor pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. My only retreat about my order is not upgrading to the thick cut bacon. The bacon I had was good, but perhaps I could have had a little more Bacon-liciousness (trademarked term. LOL). Pancakes are whole wheat which can be iffy, but here they were delicious AND served with warm syrup!! Eggs made just right as well. It was really good. I also had tea which was served in a custom Egg Harbor mug. Kinda cute. Not an issue, but I did notice there were almost no people of color here. 2 Latino busboys, an Asian woman and her daughter, and myself with about 45 other white people. Doesn't bother me, but I guess Elmhurst isn't diverse. If that bothers you, you may feel really out of place here. read more

I've reviewed Glenview's Egg Harbor....on to Elmhurst! When you're in Elmhurst, and want a great breakfast or lunch, go to Egg Harbor. If you're lucky enough to go an a day that Phyllis, the manager, is there, you will see why this place is such a well oiled operation. She is amazing, never stops working, always with a smile on her face and good cheer. If she could bottle her enthusiam, energy and drive, it would be a best seller! At the front of the restaurant is a chalkboard with the trivia question of the day. Usually geared toward the season, or some current event, it is a teaser. Answer it correctly, and can get a $2 off your next check. However, it's more about getting the answer right than the coupon...so fun! The food? Yum. Any egg dish is sure to be a winner, as are pancakes, waffles, etc. Their coffee is great. If you want lunch, they serve an excellent burger, and great soups. If you want a delicious, different chicken salad, enjoy their Door County version with cranberries. You can also buy it by the pound. While Egg Harbor is not the cheapest place for meals, there's Denny's for that...you will get a pleasant, cheerful atmosphere, with great quality, taste, and ample portions. You'll know from how busy they are that it is a winner. They have a kids' menu, too. Be sure to arrive early for lunch, though, as the parking lot fills quickly! I came to Egg Harbor with a large group for Labor Day brunch. As the three star rating might suggest, the experience had its upsides and downsides. I'm going to hit on the negatives first, then explain some of the restaurant's redeeming qualities. For how busy the holiday was, I was actually impressed by how quickly we were seated. Unfortunately, there were no tables for groups larger than 8, so we had to split our group in two. My sub-table was plagued throughout the meal by a dripping air conditioner duct positioned directly above us. I thought it was kind of icky. All that said, the food was delicious. I highly recommend the San Antonio Skillet for people who like a little spice in their lives. The decor was fun (I hope you like chickens and roosters), and the location was convenient.
