Delicious food!! Sometimes there's a wait but it's always worth it, they have redone the menu a few years ago and all the new dishes are fantastic

Corned beef hash and eggs with breakfast potatoes

Servers were very nice and let us sit on the patio. Food was great. Corned beef hash made in house with veggies mixed in. Eggs just the way we like them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The view from the restaurant across the Columbia is awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Banana waffle we destroyed.

Service was great! The food was delicious and great portions! My husband and I like to share an entree as our appetites are smaller these days and this was perfect for that. We ordered a bowl of fruit which was exceptionally small for the price, but it tasted delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The chicken theme throughout the restaurant was very cute![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent comfort food with a cozy vibe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came here solo on a Sunday around 11 am, so it was packed, but the staff did a great job keeping up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was knowledgeable and thorough, which was much appreciated!

Chile Relleno Breakfast Tacos were so worth the wait. 5 stars for the mole alone.

Any decent breakfast spot is guaranteed to be crowded on a weekend in Hood River, and Egg River, due to its proximity to downtown, is definitely on that list. Still our wait wasn't terribly long, and was worth it. My Chile Relleno breakfast tacos were an absolute flavor bomb, with the chorizo stuffed peppers playing off the mole rojo like long lost friends, smoky with just the right amount of heat. Nice portion size, too. As you probably guessed, you can get almost any egg-influenced dish you can think of here, from scrambles to omelets to Benedict's and beyond, and it all looked so good coming out of the kitchen (we were sitting right by it). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is definitely cozy inside, like a small cabin with a diner vibe, with a bunch of wooden tables and booths scattered throughout and kitschy signs and tchotchkes tucked into the corners, but it is definitely cheery.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I mentioned, it gets pretty crowded on weekends and parking is tight, so get there early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the hubbub, our server was efficient and friendly, so there's a very good chance we'll be back. Count me as a happy customer.

    Keep driving!!

Average diner. French toast Average. $3 scrambled egg uninspired. Scrambled needed flavor so requested salsa. Offered two kinds and settled on Pico de gallo. Server (on her own) went ahead and brought the other one too. When we got the bill were not only surprised to see $1.50 for the pico (no mention of an additional charge) but also the salsa the server brought on her on. Complained to staff. One said they would remove it but the male waiter said no. Inflation!! So, we took it of his tip. Principle!! Definitely enjoyed Bette's Place much better!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely amazing food and super attentive service in a fun restaurant with a view of Mt Adams in the distance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was superb and I highly recommend giving them a try for breakfast. I had the veggie Benedict with avocado with perfect poached eggs. My husband had the chili rellenos tacos which were out-of-this-world scrumptious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating inside or out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking available also across the street.

    Bloody Hangover

Great find! Large portions, good flavor, and delicious Bloody Hangover. Staff was friendly and attentive.

    Definitely not marionberry pie

Plenty of parking in a lot across the street and pleasant staff. I'm sure the breakfast experience is amazing but I ended up here in the evening. Food was ok but ordered a slice of marionberry pie and was given strawberry rhubarb. When I pointed it out to our waitress, her exact response was "But the cook said it was marionberry." Not the end of the world, but definitely annoying as it was not what I ordered and also didn't taste good.

    Do they take reservations?

No, they do not. This is a breakfast/lunch joint that is primarily known for their breakfasts. I have always gone a little bit late for breakfast or early for lunch and still had breakfast. I haven't had a problem getting in.

I finally decided on the south of the border omelette, which also comes with hash browns or potatoes or fruit, and a biscuit or muffin or toast. Such a satisfying and filling meal! The omelette itself was not short on ingredients at all, and I loved the cilantro. The menu did mention homemade salsa but I didn't see any of that on the side or inside. Other than that, the eggs were cooked nicely. I picked the chorizo biscuit on the side and it was so soft and fluffy inside! I also appreciated the amount of options on the kids menu. There was plenty more options than just your standard pancake, bacon, and eggs. Our kids loved the pigs in a blanket which was actually quite big and perfect for our two kids to split. Service was awesome, our server was so kind and even brought out our friend's son's maple bar with a candle because he mentioned it was his birthday. She did it without us even asking which was so sweet! The food came out so quickly too despite the entire restaurant being full. Great experience here at Bette's!

You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The dining space is bright with tons of seating. I love that they make their own bread!! It's super soft and such a nice touch. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. Everyone else is already finishing up their drinks and meals. Wanting just one drink after a long day, I head to the bar! My wife asks me to get her one too. Here's where it gets bizarre. Kickstand has a bar...well, it looks like a bar. But what I found out is that it's just for looks because it doesn't act like a bar. I thought ordering two cocktails and paying for my drinks would be easy, like it is at every bar in town. But the bartender, I mean employee standing behind a bar, asked if I was with the large group. I stated, "yes, I was." Then she proceeded to tell me that the drinks would be on someone's tab. But I showed up late...I don't know what's happening. I don't know who's paying for the "tab". I just wanted to buy two drinks and walk away. But that wasn't allowed at Kickstand. Then another employee walks up and attempts to take my drink order. Super confused, I tell her the employee standing behind the bar just took my drink order. And then we proceeded down the tab conversation again. The second employee said because "we" were a party of 8 or more, I couldn't pay for my own drinks and I they would have to put it on the party's tab. But again, I don't know who owns the tab. If it was the woman having the birthday, I didn't want to add to her bill...on her birthday. Then they suggested I "could just Venmo" the party girl. No! I want to just order two drinks and have Kickstand take my money. Why wouldn't they just take my money?! The place was dead tonight, other than the 5 or so small daycarel families, sitting at their own tables, that made up the "party". I canceled my drink order and walked away out of protest and principal. When asked if I was with the big party, I should have said no I guess. Lesson leaned for next time, if there is a next time. Kickstand, you're so difficult and frustrating!!

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision.
