I'm a regular customer for 3-4 years now. Owner (the man) was never very friendly but he offered tasty HK street food with reasonable price, so I kept coming back...until today. I ordered my usual--steamed rice rolls with peanut butter. It used to be packed in a mid-sized brown paper box with more contents, today they gave me the rice rolls in a small cup. I swear the portion was 30% less than before, but charged the same ($5). I'm not happy. I'll probably come back one more time to order the egrets and see if that has changed in size. Greetings to all, l have not frequented this Eggetes for some time now, Or since new ownership took over; so let's see what happened today: Parking for this location is street only or a 2 minute walk to the Nextdoor 7 Eleven parking lot; this is a C for me. Inside the shop itself is modestly lit atmosphere which could use a bit more lighting to better see what is actually on the menu boards that are lit, seating is very little even though there is a sign posted that says ( Max capacity is 43) this whole setup is a C for me. Service is just ok, but make sure that the person taking your order understands exactly what you want or want happened to me will happen to you, order one thing and received another thing in the closed box. This place is a South City classic! Brings back childhood memories. The interior is mostly the same but smaller space for seating. The drinks are as good as I remember. Most items are $5. Lychee Jasmine MT is still my favorite drink- not too sweet, refreshing, with real lychee bits. The tea is floral and noticeable. TLDR: HK-authentic snacks Let's not talk about their beverages and let's not talk about how their funny name (which is named after the even funnier-named snack... they should really call it an egg waffle, like Happy Lemon does). No, I'm just going to talk about their snacks... specifically, the rice noodle, the curry fish ball, and the fish siu mai. One word.. AUTHENTIC. My wife is from HK, you see. Only came to America to get married. All this to say, she still knows and remembers what authentic HK food tastes like. And these ALL taste LEGIT. To be honest, I'm not a fan of fish balls and fish siu mai. It's the texture. But each one comes with a nice sauce... the curry wasn't too spicy, the siu mai soy sauce was slightly sweet, with the saltiness. The Rice Noodle was DRENCHED in sesame and oyster sauce (i think?). I really loved the rice noodle. So if you're craving some HK street food, go to this place! Maybe get the milk tea from across the street. read more

I have not been to Eggettes in ten years, but I still remember sitting in their metal chairs and begging my mom to let me use their gotcha capsule machines while waiting for our order. Though their variety of capsule machines has shrunk it's still nice to see they have a few in store! They remodeled their kitchen recently and currently everything on their menu is $5 and CASH ONLY which is crazy impressive for the variety. I was really craving eggettes so i ordered one original and one chocolate. They taste a little different than I remember but still crunchy, fluffy and fun to eat! Cash only! If you're looking for a hidden gem in South SF, Eggettes is it! Prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality and portions. The boba was perfectly chewy and the drinks had great flavor -- not overly sweet, just right. We also ordered an eggette (of course), and it was hot, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and full of flavor. What really stood out was the service. The owner/cashier was incredibly friendly and welcoming. After we ordered, he actually brought our drinks and waffle over to our table -- a small gesture, but it made the experience feel really personal and warm. Love this place! All the food and drink are yummy and reasonably priced with cash only. No crazy nickel and diming for every little add in and substitutions. The eggettes are the best in the Bay Area with great flavor and a crispy exterior and nice chewy interior. There's a good decent amount of snack foods too. You can customize your drinks in various ways and you just need to ask. The couple that run this place are super chill, friendly and accommodating. Consistently one of the better places for eggettes. I'm a sucker for eggettes and will go out of my way just to get them. So I've been sad that this store had closed and I couldn't get eggettes close to home, but it's reopened! However, they are cash only and only open from 2-5PM right now (July 2023). The service is a bit slow. They only seem to have one worker. They don't have a ticketing system and the worker takes one order, makes the drinks for that order, then moves to the next party. So we did wait a bit longer in line. There's less seating now and they removed most of the toy machines (that was very characteristic of the store before). They expanded their kitchen space out so you can see a bunch of storage and them more openly making your food and drinks. You can always find parking on the street right in front or in the parking lot for 7-11 next door if you have to. I don't normally get any of their drinks. I come just for the eggettes and maybe other snacks. The eggettes are generally a good amount of crispy and fluffy inside. Some other places aren't crispy at all so this at least fits that bill. They were lacking a bit of flavor. I got the original but they were a bit just bland. However, still better than others so I'm happy to have this option! read more

This place got the much-needed remodel that it needed. They have pretty limited hours here (only 2-6 pm) and is cash only so come prepared. Everything on their menu is $5, which makes it easy to calculate your total. There was only 1 person working when we came by, seemed to be the owner. He was really nice and quick to get our order ready. I got a regular milk tea with boba (25% sweet), an order of imitation fin soup, and some original eggettes. This Eggettes in South SF used to be one of my favorites amongst the three locations with the other two being in Millbrae and SF. I stopped by here to get Hong Kong style milk tea with honey boba balls and popcorn chicken. This Eggettes was still in their soft-opening phase so there was no popcorn chicken. I got an order for the waffle egg puffs instead. What a disappointment! The eggettes was warm but not crispy or tasty. Lacked so much flavor. The milk tea tasted watered down. The only good thing was the honey boba balls. But they charge $1 for boba which was ridiculous since other boba shops only charge $.50 or $.75 more. On top of this, it was cash only. Hopefully, they improve their food and drinks drastically and not charge in cash only, because it would be hard for them to survive this type of economy. read more

I used to go to Eggettes a lot growing up, but I haven't gone in a long time until today. I went to this Eggettes location for the first time and did not know they had a soft-reopening. They had a sign saying they were only accepting cash which is certainly not ideal, but luckily I had some on me. The man working there was nice and it looked like they had a couple staff members working at a time. He wore gloves and I could tell he prioritizes cleanliness. I honestly don't usually like Eggettes milk teas, but I got a Thai Iced Tea with Honey Boba anyways. They come in only one size and the Thai Iced Tea costed $4 and it's $1 for honey boba added. It was pretty solid, but nothing special and the boba had a good chewy texture. I also ordered the Honeydew Eggettes which costed $5. It had a pretty faint honeydew flavor and I prefer the original personally, but it was okay. Eggettes have a bit of a nostalgia factor for me, but overall it's a decent spot to go satisfy my egg waffle cravings. I'd probably pass on their drinks next time though. The street parking also isn't too hard to find typically so it's not much of a hassle coming to this location. read more

I used to live in the Sunset area and I love going to that location. Now I don't live in the area but I do work nearby the South City location so I will still come by to buy drinks. My usual favorites of course is their advertised items - eggnettes. They do make the best eggnettes out of all the places I've been to locally. Both locations have standard quality eggnettes that they always come out crispy while remaining a bit soft and chewy inside. Milk tea is my other favorite because they don't use flavorless tea like many other places do. Once a while I will go for the fruity drinks and they do meet my standard. i haven't been here in years, so i was super excited to be in the area. however, i was completely turned off about the "cash only" sign. i asked the guy to make sure cause i was almost shocked to come across a business that was accepting only cash in this day and age, but he confirmed and told me there was an atm at the 7/11 next door that i could use. i personally don't carry cash on me anymore, so i just think it's hella inconvenient to have to take all the extra steps to purchase anything from this establishment. not to mention, having to pay an extra fee at the atm. the eggette itself was not very satisfying. it was fairly hollow in the center, which i was not expecting. i was hoping for it to be chewier with a more mochi center. pretty sad about my visit and disappointed overall. read more

I see that there's a sign saying soft re-opening, however, I see reviews from years ago on Yelp saying soft-reopening so that's confusing. Also on Yelp it says credit cards accepted, but right now it's still cash only. However a couple months back, my husband came here and he said it wasn't cash only, so I'm confused what they're doing. I haven't been to eggettes in year and yes they did remodel this place with what seems like a big kitchen (behind the counter) area and few tables. It is decorated with tons of male idol posters. I tried the eggettes and it's more on the soft side. Right now, it's still $5 per item, cash only. I feel bad for them because although they're cheap, I don't think many people are giving tips since it's not credit, so of course I did. They use fresh fruits for their slushees and it's only $5 for now! And you get to have an add in and boba or other topping for free! I tried the strawberry lychee with lychee addin and crystal boba. This is my second visit to this Eggettes, and had a much better eggette. Yum! Eggettes is pure Hong Kong style. Frankly, there shouldn't be anything else as no other region has a similar egg shaped waffle. The original is a vanilla flavor. Growing up, it was the only one I know. This location also has chocolate or melon flavor. I think I will always favor the original the most. The perfect HK style egg waffle is chewy on the inside and a good crunch on the outside. Eggettes has perfected this. Fish Shui Mei - This treat is a steamed savory snack, sold in a skewer in HK. There's 6 pieces per order. This one is a bit too chewy. It should be a bit more plumb.
