What a super cool little hole in the wall! Literally! It's tiny but delicious! The food was so good! The red potatoes that came with my perfectly cooked bacon omelette were so flavorful and well seasoned. I could eat a whole plateful of them. They didn't skimp on the avocado in my omelette either. My husband got some sauteed veggies and potatoes for a vegan breakfast. They even offer tofu substitute. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, we were sat pretty quick even with the limited seating and busy morning rush. The food came out fast and hot. I totally appreciate them being mindful of water usage by replacing their plates with compostable ones but the paper style plates start to fall apart after a bit. I won't fault them for that though. We went here recently on a road trip and very much enjoyed our visit. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. She also explained several of the memorabilia items displayed in the cafe. He took our drink order which was water a couple came in at time when he brought the waters he took our food order then took the couple that came behind us order. 15 minutes later the waiter came and gave the couple their food then took they drink orders. 5-7 minutes later we received our food question the waiter why was the other couple served first when our order place first? He said and I quote "It's the order the tickets goes in". (So he never put our order in?). He never apologized nor should I expect him to. The waiter needs customers service training or if he doesn't want to serve people of color he need to say that up front. Fantastic food here, great staff. The wait was about 30 minutes but well worth it and not bad despite it being a busy Sunday morning without reservations. The wizard of oz theme was cute, they even carried the theme via the yellow brick road to the bathroom outside--my only complaint. Bathroom was outside, had to wait a while, and the ceiling must have been under 6 feet--crazy cramped. I will start with the burger I ordered was amazing. A little over priced but boy was it good! The reason I am giving it a lower score was the service. If it was just a food review it would be 5 out of 5 despite the price. The person who took my order could not understand that I wanted the burger to only have cheese, meat, and condiments. I had to explaine about 7 times that no I do not want onions, no I do not want lettuce, etc. I planned on keeping about half for my dinner since the portions were very generous and I was given a to go box that would fit maybe half, if not less, of the food I had left. I had to wait for quite awhile to get a proper box. Great little place it doesn't look much from the outside but when you get in there it's a very small little quaint place. It has the Wizard of Oz theme throughout including figurines pictures quotes movie scenes etc. etc. the menu is Wizard of Oz theme so you have breakfast specials like Dorothy's revenge. You wouldn't know just from the name that this restaurant is Wizard of Oz themed. I ask our server about the correlation between the name of the restaurant and the movie, and she informed me that there is none. Everything else about this place SCREAMS Wizard of Oz though; from the painted yellow brinks at the entrance, to the décor surrounding the walls, and even the specialty plates they serve share the mutual theme. I ordered the "Wicked" benedict. It combines two of my favorite things: Eggs Benedict and Wicked. The 'Wicked' part of the dish must be the hollandaise sauce. It's a tequila lime hollandaise. It's a little unique and fun, plus the color was just beautiful. The eggs were cooked to absolute perfection. Instead of Canadian Bacon they use a sausage patty that has a little bit of a kick, and instead of an English muffin they use a biscuit. I don't think this dish could be any more perfect for me if they tried. The potatoes that accompanied the eggs could have had a little more flavor to them, but that's what the Tobasco is there for. The entire dish is served on a sugar cane plate, which means it is totally compostable. Also, before to take advantage of the free orange juice check in offer, because that juice is as fresh as they come. Our server had a huge personality, and I saw the one other server has had the same. The downsides to this place are few, but they are there. The place is small, and when you're seated right by the window like we were, and the entrance is right next to you, everybody crowding in will basically be sitting on your table. The place is small, so there is nowhere for them to move to. The host was probably the only unhappy person I saw working that morning. Our table was not fully set up before they sat us. We were missing silverware and a coffee mug. Granted, they were slammed that morning, so it was understandable. I would recommend trying this place for a multitude of reasons, but the most important one being that their food is amazing. read more

Hubby and I headed to Fort Bragg to celebrate our anniversary and honestly in a weekend full of good food, breakfast at this place absolutely tops the list. Dorothy's revenge is hands down the best thing I have ever eaten. The staff was super nice and attentive too! The whimsical Wizard of Oz theme was really cool and made it stand out in a full on beach town. I don't think I saw a table empty for less than a minute the whole time we were there, as soon as one emptied there was another party ready, willing and hungry to take their place. My wife Kathy and I first ate at Eggheads about 5 years ago and were very impressed with the quality, service and menu choices. We had our own similar breakfast and lunch restaurant for 32 years in the S.F. east bay area. We were back in Fort Bragg at the end of July this year and knew we would have to get breakfast here again. Kathy is gluten-free and Eggheads is very accommodating. Once again food was hot, delicious and service was excellent. I congratulate Eggheads for weathering the pandemic foodservice nightmare. My wife recently went on a roadtrip for our honeymoon and stopped in Fort Bragg. After my wife's due diligence in researching breakfast places, we came here. The staff was awesome. Very friendly and accommodating. The place is small, but the old decorations, wizard of Oz decor and staff made the place feel nostalgic and welcoming. The Dungeness crab omelet was amazing. It was fresh, sweet and and locally caught one mile from the restaurant. The pumpkin waffle and Auntie Em's griddle cakes are highly recommended. We'd love to visit again. read more

9/28/14: Nice restaurant with good gourmet-ish food. 1. Grapefruit Juice Large $6: It's fresh squeezed. Tastes good. But by "large" they mean probably a tad more than a cup and less than a soda. Pretty dang expensive for the amount. I'd hate to see what a "small" is. I say go buy a bag of grapefruits from Costco instead, unless you really want juice with your meal. 5/10. 2. Glinda's Crab & Garlic Omelette $21: By the description it says that the omelette (or crepe if you choose) shell was cooked with garlic, and yeah, it's really garlicky. I like that part. It's filled with tomatoes, cheese, and of course crab. There's a pretty generous amount of crab in there, but unfortunately it's not the highest grade. Stringy, but no chunks. Adds some texture and flavor, but you don't really have a good taste of crab despite there being relatively plenty of it. The crab is a tad salty too, and a little lacking in taste. I'm not sure the whole thing works together 100%--flavors don't harmonize completely. It's not cheap either, though understandably because of the real crab. Was a good effort though. I'd say 6/10. Small small small place but we came at the right time and had no wait. Based on all the reviews, and how much I love this dish, how could I not get the EGGS BENEDICT? It looked soooooo good..... But. The Hollandaise, though light and airy, was liked whipped mustard. I'm so glad I got it "on the side," as always, as it would've totally ruined the taste otherwise. Everything else was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs, nicely grilled canadian bacon, appropriately seasoned potatoes, etc. Oh and the orange juice - yum! Fresh squeezed and was free because of a "check in" offer. Sweet! When finished, our incredibly friendly server asked the obligatory "how was your meal?" and I don't know how it came out of my mouth but I said something like "very good....interesting hollandaise...a bit mustardy but ...good..." (aka: lied through my teeth!) She took the plates and came back with the check, then explained she had comped a portion off my meal because of the sauce. This kind of thing mortifies me! I don't complain about meals...I don't send things back and I certainly don't ask to be comped anything. I was taken aback and she went on to explain that since it was the end of the day, the cooks may have been a bit fast and heavy-handed with the mustard, that it's OK, that it's a learning experience for them, that the whole staff has weekly meetings to always be improving service and quality, and that the comped bill is a good way to show the owner. So, feeling unecessarily guilty, I left Egghead's impressed with their customer service and would definitely go back to give it another shot. read more
