Getting ready for the drive back home on Friday the 29th of December and wanted a good breakfast. My favorite is their specialty- eggs Benedict. Due to heightened Covid restrictions, I had to take the meal to go and eat in my car. I liked the dining area decor - the theme was Wizard of Oz. Compact wood booths and two person tables all closed due to Covid. The meal was good - sauce was tangy and delicious. The eggs cooked just right. But the ham and English muffin were slightly overdone. That made it a bit tough to cut with plastic ware. This meal came with potatoes and they were really good. I take my coffee with cream and they made it right. Good strong cup o' joe and the right amount of cream. I wanted to order bacon, but they don't do sides and were selling by the slice at $1.50 each. I was unaware there is a butter and jelly shortage in California. Also, to my dismay, I thought there must also be a shortage of milk or creamer since the waiter didn't offer it. I'm still puzzling over the connection between their name and decor. Anyways the whole restaurant was wizard of oz themed. The menu, the art on the walls, the "yellow brick road" leading to the restroom. It was interesting and bizarre. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Being one of the most talked about breakfast spots on Fort Bragg, Egghead's was on my mind when we were last there. But more than that, what tempted me the most to go there was their 'Wizard of Oz' themed decor. Being an avid reader, I couldn't help but visit at least once. And I absolutely adored the cute little place. It had some beautiful murals and frames of the scenes from the story on the walls. Since we visited on the 4th of July there was a long wait time but my husband and I had fun watching their parade and didn't even realize how time passed by. As soon as we were seated, our server got us started with some water and COFFEE. My CAPPUCCINO was perfect with a lovely thick layer of foam on the top. I called for the WIZARD'S VEGGIE GARLIC OMELETTE which was brilliant to say the least. It was stuffed with fresh grilled veggies, hot pepper cheese, avocado and had this amazing garlicky flavor to it. I loved the fact that they did not over-use garlic which happens in a lot of other places. My husband got the ORIGINAL PUMPKIN CREAM PANCAKE topped with sliced bananas and almond cream. I am personally not a huge fan of pumpkins but I still quite enjoyed the pancakes. But my husband seemed to love them. I totally loved every bit of the food that I had here. And a special mention to their fun and sweet owners who were luckily sitting at the table next to us and kept us entertained and were kind enough to help us with all the details of the parade going on outside. OMG, the food here is amazing! My wife and I went here because of the positive reviews online, and it did not let us down! We ordered dungeons crab omelet, home burger and pumpkin waffle, and they are gorgeous! The crab meat is fresh, and the cream is not greasy and good even to me ( I usually do not like eating cream). This place was bomb. We were in Ft. Bragg for the weekend and ordered to our hotel room. The burrito was huge and big enough for two people. I wanted literally everything on the menu. 9/28/14: Nice restaurant with good gourmet-ish food. 1. Grapefruit Juice Large $6: It's fresh squeezed. Tastes good. But by "large" they mean probably a tad more than a cup and less than a soda. Pretty dang expensive for the amount. I'd hate to see what a "small" is. I say go buy a bag of grapefruits from Costco instead, unless you really want juice with your meal. 5/10. 2. Glinda's Crab & Garlic Omelette $21: By the description it says that the omelette (or crepe if you choose) shell was cooked with garlic, and yeah, it's really garlicky. I like that part. It's filled with tomatoes, cheese, and of course crab. There's a pretty generous amount of crab in there, but unfortunately it's not the highest grade. Stringy, but no chunks. Adds some texture and flavor, but you don't really have a good taste of crab despite there being relatively plenty of it. The crab is a tad salty too, and a little lacking in taste. I'm not sure the whole thing works together 100%--flavors don't harmonize completely. It's not cheap either, though understandably because of the real crab. Was a good effort though. I'd say 6/10. Small small small place but we came at the right time and had no wait. Based on all the reviews, and how much I love this dish, how could I not get the EGGS BENEDICT? It looked soooooo good..... But. The Hollandaise, though light and airy, was liked whipped mustard. I'm so glad I got it "on the side," as always, as it would've totally ruined the taste otherwise. Everything else was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs, nicely grilled canadian bacon, appropriately seasoned potatoes, etc. Oh and the orange juice - yum! Fresh squeezed and was free because of a "check in" offer. Sweet! When finished, our incredibly friendly server asked the obligatory "how was your meal?" and I don't know how it came out of my mouth but I said something like "very good....interesting hollandaise...a bit mustardy but ...good..." (aka: lied through my teeth!) She took the plates and came back with the check, then explained she had comped a portion off my meal because of the sauce. This kind of thing mortifies me! I don't complain about meals...I don't send things back and I certainly don't ask to be comped anything. I was taken aback and she went on to explain that since it was the end of the day, the cooks may have been a bit fast and heavy-handed with the mustard, that it's OK, that it's a learning experience for them, that the whole staff has weekly meetings to always be improving service and quality, and that the comped bill is a good way to show the owner. So, feeling unecessarily guilty, I left Egghead's impressed with their customer service and would definitely go back to give it another shot. read more

When I read reviews of this place everyone recommended Dungeon crab omelet so we ordered it and it was the best omelet ever! Crab meat, a lot of it, bacon and avocado, what's not to love! I don't give many five stars but this place takes the waffle, and by waffle I mean a delicious pumpkin creation served with ripe bananas, maple syrup, and a decadent almond whipped cream. I love trying new items but have a hard time not getting that every time. The crazy monkey hash comes loaded with yummy veggies. Love this place, always visit when I'm in town. Now to all the haters bashing for paper plates, you must not know about the city water shortage. I appreciate the fact that they are being environmentally friendly and getting a high quality compost able product. oh my god, this place is great. I love it. Breakfast was soooooo yummy! I personally thought the portions were a little bit small considering the price and that it's literally just eggs, but I get it. Also, if you check into yelp, you get a free small OJ. Unfortunately that day we got charged for it, but the girl was nice and changed it. Service in getting your check and paying is super slow though, a little too slow. I felt bad because my dad was being insanely difficult that day and he was really rude to her (there's some cultural things too, but for the most part, he was just cranky and a lot of the times asian people's gestures are translated into being really mean/rude in the states) but she was still super sweet and nice. : ( sorry about that. Also, this other lady was like.. yelling and yelling and going on and on about having eggs that had uncooked eggs in hers (the white part was runny) and the girl kept apologizing profusely and kept her cool despite the woman being a grade A beezy. Great service--the staff is awesome and very likeable. Food took a little bit to come out, a bit longer than I was expecting for a brunch style place but the service makes up for it. Portions were a bit on the smaller side. Corned beef not hash is very tasty--the beef chunks are great--but there's a tad too much potato in there. The breakfast burrito was tasty but really needed more salsa/heat, and a more authentic salsa would've been really welcome. Burger and other breakfast food was good. Had to try this place out to see if it lived up to all the hype and sadly I was disappointed. I don't think there's anything special about it. I ordered a basic plate: eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes so it's hard to mess that up, but the bacon was a little over cooked and hard. My boyfriend ordered the eggs benedict and he did not like the sauce at all. The food also took a while to come out. The wait to get seated wasn't too bad for a party of 2, we expected to have to wait anyway. I think we went during off season though because reading some of these reviews the wait can get pretty long. I will say the best thing about this place how friendly the staff is. Oh man, Fort Bragg spoiled us with good food last weekend and Eggheads is fighting for top spot here! LOVED the food. I've never been a big breakfast person but I knew that I should eat something hardy before our long drive to the Redwoods and hiking. The wait was about 25 min due to the small size of the place and the fact everyone and their mom was smart enough to stop here to eat. Once we sat down I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted. I spotted the Eggs Benedict section and saw where it said, ..Original, champagne, or tequila flavored hollandaise sauce...WHAT!?!?! We asked our waiter if we could try them. He brought out a small cup of the champagne and tequila sauce and we tasted them. Let me tell you, I have never had fresh made Hollandaise sauce like this, rich, creamy melt in your mouth goodness. Both were good but we settled on an order of Eggs Benedict with the champagne sauce and an omelet for me with sausage, avocado, and jack cheese. The wait for our food was still a little long but gosh darn it was WORTH IT! I would wait an hour just to taste the deliciousness of both those dishes! The Eggs Benedict were heaven sent, and my omelet was just as good. The fried red potatoes that came with it were perfectly spiced and gave my grandmas southern style fried potatoes a run for their money. The perfect cure for hanger! Getting a very late start ands was ready to gnaw off an arm (not my own)! We held out for this place as we loved our previous visit. Hanger cured and no one was injured. Okay WOW! There should be more than 5 stars to give this place...because it is EGGcellent! This was our last meal here before heading home and it was the best choice. Greeted immediately, seated immediately, coffee served and great service given immediately. Anna was seating, Miguel was serving, and Alfonso was bussing and they were so friendly and so attentive! Everything done and said with a quickness in their step and smiles on their faces and genuine kindness. This was such a refreshing experience and absolutely was one of the highlights from our weekend. Arrived for a late lunch on a Monday and the place was almost dead. Was glad for it because I know folks are spilling out the front door most times. Hadn't been here in 15+ years... not much has changed, which can be a good thing! Ordered eggs scrambled, well, which they did a nice job of... Tasted like they were cooked in butter... pretty delicious! My hubby got a benedict... eggs were well poached but the English muffin was tough and the hollandaise was too lemony for his taste. The tough muffin wouldn't have been such an issue if the food wasn't served on paper (albeit fancy paper) plates... It also took an unreasonable amount of time for us to get the check, get it picked up, and get the change considering the place was almost empty...
