I didn't try the tiramisu pancakes (though just look at them--they're a thing of absolute beauty), but I did order the stuffed French toast and it was out of this world. You can tell every dish here is made with so much love and care--it truly feels like edible artwork. This is a pretty average breakfast cafe in downtown Wheaton. No issues with the food, service, or atmosphere. Eggs Benedict -they gave 2 eggs that were a tad overcooked. The yolk was not as runny as it should have been. The crab cake they gave us didn't have any crab taste. The sausage patty is ok Southern Skillet- not bad. I liked the spicyness in the dish but it may be too much for others. The eggs were well poached and the pancake is as you expect. The gravy though, did not have much taste. Nice menu for morning and a few sandwiches in downtown Wheaton. Prepare to park in the free parking ramp. Parking is street and hard to come by. I had a gift card from 9 years ago. My 2024 goal is to get rid of gift cards so I ordered some Takeout on the phone at lunchtime on a Wednesday. They are very quick. She told me 10 minutes for 4 orders. When I got there I was bummed to find out it is a new owner and the gift cards and no longer being honored. I had no clue what was left and the hostess said they could give me $5 off which was nice. Onto the food: I got a beyond meat ( vegan) burger and fries with arugula and a tomato. A tiny bit of balsamic drizzled on bun( I could have had a bit more but added more of my own at home). It was plain and simple. The fries were good. A little extra batter on them that I always like. I got 2 chicken sandwiches with pesto for our boys and a southwest salad for my husband. Egg'Lectric Cafe is open from mornings to afternoons. Of course it has eggs, but there's a lot else. There's even a few vegan friendly items at lunch. A lot of this is basic brunch stuff like, you guessed it, eggs. It seems like a pretty popular place because it was jam packed. The breakfast is the most popular menu it seems. Also they have good stuff at lunch. We came late in the morning so I could get the vegan lunch items, because there weren't any at breakfast unfortunately. Get some orange juice. Maybe make it a Screwdriver. It's about $7 to put in a shot, about the healthiest alcoholic drink you can get. Lunch menu includes the Beyond Meat Vegan Burger, and it's a literally big thing. It's about $14 and comes with a fruit salad or side of your choice. The burger was topped with arugula, avocado, balsamic dressing, tomatoes, and vegan American style cheese, a loaded burger to be sure. Come a little later than breakfast so you can also get a load of the lunch menu. It has much of the common breakfast favorites such as omelets, as expected because this is an egg-cellent restaurant. Peach bellini, Southern Bennedict (hashbrowns, eggs benedict, biscuit, sausage, and sausage gravy) and kids chicken and fries were all great. For parking sake, the earlier, the better for breakfast in this area. Fills up completely by eleven. The business owners support the Girl Scouts in the community, let them sell cookies outside, and always ask if they need a hot drink on a cold day. The poached egg was cooked well, as the egg yolk was still slightly runny. And the hollandaise sauce was spot on. Hashbrowns could have used a bit more fry to be a bit crispier, but nonetheless it was good. Service was great. There's good amount of seating for a small cafe, but you can also sit outside. Egg'lectic Cafe is truly 2nd to none when it comes to serving breakfast and lunch in Wheaton. Today's experience began with their willingness to take a reservation for 14 to celebrate my mother in-laws 75th Birthday. We arrived during prime time breakfast on a Sunday and the my didn't skip a bear. The waiter was a kid from WWS HS who's attention to detail and quick service was exceptional. Our table ordered mainstay breakfast items that included, Chicken and Waffles, Mediterranean Omelets, and countless Pancakes with Egg combinations. At the end of breakfast, they provided serving plates and allowed us to serve a birthday cake we brought. This past Tuesday went in with my partner and grandson for breakfast about 8am. They were not too busy. Got seated right away. Ordered are food. My partners skillet with no meat was ok had a lot of onions that were left on the plate. My grandson pancakes were very hard to cut, my feeling they were overcooked. Most of the time you should be able to cut your pancakes with fork. That did happen on this visit. My breakfast came out being a breakfast wrap of some kind. It took about 3-5 minutes to get someone attention one waitstaff lady said she be right over never came finally told the older gentleman busboy type person. He told the waitstaff person at the main counter they looked our way like we must be crazy. When they finally got me the right breakfast sandwich they said the two items were kind of the same. In my world a wrap in a tortilla shell and a breakfast sandwich on a bun are totally different. I asked for crispy bacon was told it was mixed in with the eggs yes that's true but before the get mixed the bacon could have been crisped up a bite i did have 3-4 of not very cooked raw ish bacon in the scrambled eggs. Lady my cubed potatoes were very greasy cooked on one side only kind of raw on the uncooked side. I guess on the day the chef did not know how to use a spatula. for the $50 we spend I guess I should have taken my grandson advice and gone to McDonald for a 1:3 of what we paid. So, it was time to move our daughter back to school at Wheaton College. By the time we got up, got the cars loaded and got to Wheaton, it was afternoon. Too late to get breakfast food? Certainly not! My daughter, a vegetarian (ovo- pescatarian to be precise) suggested this establishment, so you know they have options for various diets. They do have lunch options, but the breakfast item looked really good. My daughter opted for the California Crepes and seemed to enjoy it. My wife, usually a slow-eater, absolutely demolished her BLT Benedict with gusto. A guest enjoyed a Scrambler. My Butcher Shop Omelet was great! Good portion, fluffy eggs, topped with melty cheese...it was delicious. We all had coffee, which was quite good and our server kept it coming. The server was very attentive, friendly, and helpful--doing a nice job rolling with my dad jokes. There was music playing on the street just outside the restaurant and a health buzz of locals and parents who were also dropping off their progeny. Tip.. if you plan to order oatmeal and you're lactose intolerant, consider choosing "steel cut oats" because they don't use milk when they prep it vs the conventional rolled oats. If you don't mind mostly packaged food being served to you at lukewarm temperatures, then you may like this place. When there are so many breakfast restaurants to choose from, this place really needs to up their game. There was available seating inside the restaurant, but I couldn't see anyone eating inside. Downtown Wheaton has done a great job providing large tents down the entire street for the restaurants to serve their patrons. It's very open an airy and makes eating out during this virus pandemic a little easier to deal with. Kudos to Wheaton for shutting down the streets to help out the local restaurants. When we first arrived all of the outdoor tables were taken, so one of the managers pulled a table over from one of the next restaurants tables since they weren't open yet. Nice touch instead of having us wait, but she then didn't sanitize the table as all places are doing regularly. Once brought to her attention, she did sanitize it, but I don't think I should have asked for that with everything going on. The coffee is just mediocre. Although as we were waiting for the table to be ready our waitress came up to us to ask us if we wanted any coffee or juice so that they could be ready quicker for us. Again, nice touch, and the server was great. There was no issues with her or the service. The food is where everything just really fell flat. I ordered the country skillet which was lukewarm at best. Having picked up breakfast from multiple breakfast places already and bringing the food back home, this was very disappointing to be served food that wasn't anywhere near hot. Besides the temperature, the food was portioned on the smaller side and lacked any flavor whatsoever. There was no amount of hot sauce that could have remedied this food. I actually had to try and find the potatoes which are the foundation of most skillets. The other plate was the crab cake Benedict. The potato pancakes that came with them were the frozen store bought ones and bland as can be. When people are eating out less and less because of Covid, it's a real treat to, and you really expect more than what was served from this place. I did complain to the waitress and nothing was really done. I understand that food can't be taken back to the kitchen to be reheated as they used to be and wasn't about to wait for a completely different dish. Sadly, we wouldn't come back here for breakfast. But I do suggest looking into the many restaurants Wheaton has to offer. The town has really made it welcoming to eat out during this pandemic by providing ample outdoor seating. read more

What a delightful breakfast. I wanted something healthy and was going to order a bowl of oatmeal. Then I saw that I could get it with eggs, bacon, and a side order of pancakes for a few dollars more. Me, being me, believe that more is frequently better and opted for the gourmand option. I wasn't disappointed! The steel-cut Banana-Raisin Oatmeal was delicious, the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the bacon was thick and tasty, and the pancakes were delicious. My husband and I stopped by for a quick bite at breakfast time this Saturday. What we happened on was a real gem located in the heart of downtown Wheaton. We were greeted with friendly smiles and seated right away. Our waiter, Henry, was attentive and provided us with great service. The food was delicious. I usually don't finish my entire meal, but the food was so good that I couldn't help eating my entire Belgian waffle and side of bacon. My husband also noted his skillet was absolutely sublime. my partner got the lemon blueberry pancakes combo and i got the sun devil scramble. both were delicious! the english muffin that came with mine was an exceptionally good one. carla waited on us and made us feel very seen and was crazily (good) on top of things. she noticed my cat socks and made conversation, showing us pictures of her very cute cats. i really appreciated that a lot (-: it's a nice little cafe downtown with delicious food and perfect service. they also have cute framed pictures of chickens around, which i found charming. 9.5/10 read more
