my partner got the lemon blueberry pancakes combo and i got the sun devil scramble. both were delicious! the english muffin that came with mine was an exceptionally good one. carla waited on us and made us feel very seen and was crazily (good) on top of things. she noticed my cat socks and made conversation, showing us pictures of her very cute cats. i really appreciated that a lot (-: it's a nice little cafe downtown with delicious food and perfect service. they also have cute framed pictures of chickens around, which i found charming. 9.5/10 read more

Food was great once we received it. We had put our name in for 1pm and sat down at 12:45 on Mother's Day, the restaurant was full in addition the outdoor tent area was full. We didn't receive our food until 2pm, no kidding! Apparently too many online orders and lack of kitchen staff?? Very disappointed on how they handled this! Coffee and water is all they could do. They told us that it would be 30 minutes when we sat down but 75 minutes, really? I like this place but not that much! We felt like they just took our money and didn't care about it! CREPES! Soooo yummy in my tummy. A good friend of mine absolutely loves coming here for brunch. We've been here a couple times and neither experience has disappointed me. This restaurant is located on a somewhat busy intersection of downtown Wheaton, so parking might take awhile (downtown Wheaton is always packed). Yet, we never have to wait for a table in one of the two quaint rooms of the restaurant. Both spaces are spacious and comfortable --- I don't think we've bothered the other diners with our loud voices (hopefully). My usual breakfast/brunch dish is a vegetarian omelet or skillet, but here? CREPES! They're arranged beautifully on the plate, absolutely scrumptuous, and pretty generous. The Kiwi Crepe is my favorite. I believe it usually comes with cream cheese on top, but I dislike cream cheese and ask them to omit it. YUM. I've also tried the pumpkin pancakes -- delicious! Drooling right now just thinking about the food here.... (it's 7:30am and I haven't eaten breakfast yet, so..... yeah). Servers are hit or miss. We've had a waitress that completely ignored us during the entire meal, and a waitress that was very attentive. Our meal arrives after a reasonable wait and food prices are pretty good, too. This place used to be exceptional with every dish an abundance of flavor. But after another drier than dry omelet I don't think I'll be back. Cheese is only a dried out topping to the omelet and onions are chopped huge and uncooked. Most likely using white onions better suited for a soup or roast. It didn't help that the hash browns weren't really cooked but rather warmed up. It's a huge disappointment after 15+ years of solid food. Even the decor looks sad. Once abundant with farm and chicken items the walls now look drab and bare. Some pretty low rent lighting was changed over some tables that looks suitable for a mall food court. Luckily Wheaton has two other outstanding breakfast places in a half mile or less. I'm surprised because this was such a favorite for the community for so long with long wait times. read more

Right in the heart of downtown Wheaton. They have a huge tent outside for dine in that has around 10-15 tables, a few outside the tent also. The staff is friendly and nice. They give your condiments in little plastic containers with covers. Their corned beef hash skillet is pretty good and it comes with pancakes. My wife and I stumbled upon the restaurant just out for a drive from St. Charles. Very nice ambiance and great service. We were greeted by the owner ( husband) when we arrived and had a nice conversation with the owner on the way out (wife). The menu has a lot to choose from, no problem satisfying the choices of a large group. I had the award winning chili and a Greek salad, both were excellent. Decided to swing by this place for breakfast. We walked in and saw there was a wait but we were assured it would move quickly. This was good to hear because our 18 month old son was very sleepy and we were holding him while waiting. A few people had arrived before us and were waiting to be be seated but the staff sat us first because we had a baby. This was a nice gesture and much appreciated. They say us in a corner and by a window which was very nice. We were greeted very quickly by our server to take our drink orders. She was attentive and when we put our menus down she came back quickly even though they were very busy. Our food came out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. The quality of the breakfast food was too notch. Everything was delicious. Another shout out to our server who was extremely busy but still was always ready to get us something we needed. Went there this morning, was promptly sat indoors. Given menus by hostess. Water showed up. Sat there for 15 minutes after we closed our menus waiting for a waiter. Tables got sat after us, prompt service. We waited. The closest table to us which was sat after us not only had one waiter, but a second who came by to chit chat. We walked out to see if anybody would even notice. One of the hostesses looked at us perplexed how we could be departing. I told her we waited 15 minutes for a waiter, none ever showed up. Plenty of waitstaff around, both inside and out. Poor management I guess. Enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the Hen House instead. read more

Service was horrific and when asked to speak to the manager, he was not very apologetic and offered no discount off our bill. Our server should consider a career change. Egg'lectic Cafe is a small breakfast oriented restaurant located off of Hale Street in downtown Wheaton. There are just a handful of tables available and the place has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. In walking in I was immediately greeted by a hostess and was then seated. Within a few moments I had zeroed in on exactly what I wanted to order and as soon as I closed the menu and placed it on the table a waitress was on her way to take my order. I tried the countryside skillet, while it was a little smaller than most places skillets it tasted great, the eggs were done just right and the amount of meat was exactly what I expected. I also got pancakes with the skillet which were nice and fluffy and a fine compliment to the skillet I had. Overall both the food and service here was excellent, I give it four stars. read more

My favorite breakfast place in Wheaton. Lisa loves the pumpkin pancakes, but let's get real here and talk about what really matters. Cinnamon Roll French Toast! Not just any kind of cinnamon Roll French Toast... but the real deal. If you've ever had it at Egg Harbor down the street.. forget about it! It's like comparing finger painting to the Mona Lisa. I can't just rest with the CRFT... I have to get the combo (two sausages, two pieces of bacon ...you can have all bacon if you prefer... two eggs and I get a side of potatoes) Yes, it's a lot of food. But! Cinnamon Roll French Toast Day is like a national holiday for me and I intend to make the most of it. The also have pecan roll french toast... but I'm stuck in a groove of cinnamony goodness and not looking for alternatives just yet. Lisa also loves their omelettes, particularly the California omelette. It's nice to sit outside on appropriate weather days but the interior restaurant ambiance is a winner too. On a side note.. I've found the location in town square to be a bit lacking. I'm giving 4 stars: 5 stars for my great experience today, but 3 stars for my half dozen other times I've been there in the past when the service wasn't great. But I think they are working on it! Today I had the pumpkin pancakes- delicious! They have apples and cranberries (seemed like Craisins) inside, topped with cinnamon and served with whipped butter. I got the combo with the eggs, sausage and bacon. Their sausage is some of the best I've tasted. The food was the perfect temperature. I think their menu is great- good variety, with healthy choices for those so inclined (not me- I usually get the cinnamon roll french toast!) They have a coupon online for 10% off and also a frequent diner card. Our server was excellent today. She checked back several times, was friendly and just a little chatty, and offered my friend a to go cup for her iced tea and even brought a new lemon- very thoughtful. Great customer service today! One of the drawbacks is that this restaurant can get very loud. My friend says she never feels bad bringing her two young kids to eat here because it's always so loud already. :) After today I think I'll visit this place more often! read more

I came here on a rainy Saturday morning for brunch and the line was almost out the door but we were seated within 15-20 minutes. However, the service is SO SLOW. We stared at our waitress for a good 10 to 15 minutes before she actually noticed us. Our waitress seemed like she was very flustered and had trouble multi-tasking. I split the chicken spinach gruyere crepe (grilled chicken strips, sautéed fresh spinach, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, blended with Gruyere cheese and topped with Hollandaise sauce) and lean machine omelette (egg-white omelette with chipotle chicken sausage, fresh mushrooms and green onions, served with sliced tomatoes, and salsa) with the bf. We come here often, because it's so convenient. We love the charm of the location, right in town where there is plenty to see and do. The food is good. To me, it has never been impressive (neither positively nor negatively impressive). Pancakes, French toast, and egg dishes are all as you'd expect. Actually, I do remember having one thing I really didn't like...cornflake French toast (or something like that), ick. Today I had the bacon and egg quesadilla, which was tasty although shaped more like a burrito than a traditional quesadilla. The servers are always friendly. At times, I would appreciate speedier water and coffee refills. We love the availability of outdoor dining when the weather is nice. We probably wouldn't pick this over Red Apple or Butterfields if it weren't for the location, but we keep going back and will continue to do so, because Hale St is pretty much the center of the universe. read more

We came to Egg'lectic Café for breakfast on a Saturday morning and had a pleasant meal. Décor: Upon entering you cannot help but notice that the waiting area seems a bit small. In fact, I can see this place getting rather busy and people having to wait outside. Nonetheless, there are two main dining rooms with lots of tables of varying sizes to accommodate any size family/group. There are lots of windows, which is very nice and adds to the clean/enjoyable ambiance, and the ceilings are high - you feel like you have a lot of space to move around and you don't feel like you're on top of the next table (which isn't too close anyway). Also, the interior is styled to almost feel like a classic farmhouse, I think. It's nice. Bathroom: pretty standard for this type of place, it's clean and inviting. Staff: The hostess was nice and they sat us even though we only had half of our party (I HATE when places say you have to wait for everyone!). Our waitress was spot-on with taking orders and was quick to clear dirty plates, etc. Good service. Food: We had an assortment of breakfast items (they have a GREAT menu with a little bit of everything!) and everything was very tasty! Value: Given the location the prices were fine and, given the service level, you felt like you got your money's worth. Delicious! The fam and I wanted to grab breakfast before heading to Cosley Zoo. First, LOTS of GF options! Everything is clearly marked if it is gluten free. I got the GF french toast combo. It was so tasty and a real treat as I haven't had french toast in years. My husband got an omelet and enjoyed his. This bill (with a coupon) was only 24, with two drinks. Don't eat here unless you like hair in your food and want to get attitude for asking the manager to remove it from the check. First of all, our family has come to this restaurant for years. I write this post because we are extremely disappointed by how this situation was handled. Our server was very tentative to us when taking our order and providing our drinks very quickly but after that is when our nightmare began. After delivery of our food it was brought to our attention that they provided us with an extra plate of two pancakes a few minutes later. The server asked for them back which we kindly obliged. However, once food hits the table it should never be taken back and given to another customer. That's just gross. But then my wife observed on her eggs a 3 inch long black hair. She was completely disgusted and it destroyed her appetite. After a few more minutes, we were able to flag down our server and show him the hair we found which he also confirmed to be present. He asked if they could make a new dish for her but My wife and I politely told him to never mind and to kindly remove it from the check. No manager came by to apologize for the rogue hair in the dish and when we received the check the hair-infused breakfast dish was still on the check! Did the server forget to talk to a manager or have the staff not been properly been trained to handle a situation like this? Mistakes happen, we totally understand. But then when we went to pay the bill, we received attitude from the male manager after explaining our situation and again asking to remove this disaster of a dish off our check. It saddens our family of how this situation went from bad to worst so I can confidently say we will not be back again. Sunday morning brunch at Egg'lectic had been a ritual for my wife and I for a few years now. Like many, we shied away from restaurants in general during COVID, but were really looking forward to getting back to normal now that restaurants are slowly opening back up and capacity is rising. Now that we're both vaccinated, we were really looking forward to Sunday Brunch on Mother's Day. We got to Egg'lectic early...just a little after 7am, and there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant. At least 6-7 (maybe more) wait staff personnel were sitting around right behind the hostess podium...apparently waiting for something to do. The restaurant is split into two large rooms, and we were seated in a booth in a room by ourselves...so, two rooms, two couples, and a wait staff that did not move. We had been there many times, so we knew what we were going to order before we ever got there. We waited...and waited...AND WAITED. Two or three more couples had now come in, and I watched, in complete disbelief, wait staff walk right past us to ask these people if they wanted coffee, whether they were ready to order, etc. I still can't believe it. We were there for nearly 30 minutes, and we never even asked if we wanted some coffee...much less whether we wanted to eat. I held up the menu and waved it at two waitresses who were about 15' away, gesturing that we were ready to order. They just stared at us. Another few minutes went by, and I told my wife that we should go someplace else for brunch this morning. She agreed, and I picked up the menus and walked up to the hostess podium. I told the hostess, "You know...I don't appreciate being seated and ignored...watching people who arrived AFTER us, get served BEFORE us. It's rude." The manager, who was apparently behind me as I was speaking, said, "Whatever, I've got 5 guests waiting to be seated." WOW! I don't know what is going on, but when you have more wait staff than guests and people can't get their order taken, you've got problems. My wife related to me what the manager said. It's probably better I didn't hear it myself. We will never go back there. Wheaton has plenty of nice breakfast venues, and all but this one know the value of treating their customers respectfully. read more

Super moist and fluffy with blueberries bursting with every single bite. It's not too sweet and the whipped butter adds a great salty note to the sweetness. Beautifully balanced. Even if you don't normally choose gluten free food, you should definitely give this one a shot. Other dishes my famjam ordered were the Crab cakes benedict. It was a good crab cake served on an English muffin topped with a slice of steak tomato and a nice hollandaise sauce. They also added their homemade hashbrowns and a side of fresh fruit. Again, beautifully done! The other dish we ordered was a spinach and chicken skillet with 2 poached eggs. Super yummy and hearty. Our waitress was great.
