So I came here with my family on a Friday morning because wildberry was full and wait for 1.5 hours. This place is very tricky to find, we walked into an area that looked like an outdoor food court/market thinking eggy's was there because of the sign, but it's not. It's down the block and you turn left and another left to a very quiet park area and eggy's is there. The restaurant is decent size and has a good amount of table. We were lucky enough to be seated right away but a few group after us had to wait a bit. The menu was extensive with many delicious sounding breakfast choice. We started with a fresh squeeze grapefruit juice and coffee. The juice is definitely worth it if you're a fan of grapefruit!!! We ordered the egg Benedict with biscuit, corned beef hash, banana pecan pancakes, and built our own omelette with salmon, avocado, and mozzarella cheese. Portions were huge!!! Lots of food and was delicious. But it started going downhill from here....first we realized they didn't put avocado in the omelette and upon telling our waitress she quickly apologized and gave us a side of avocado. But after that...we found a piece of hair in the omelette. It was a blonde hair and we are all asians with dark black hair. We told the manager and he deducted the order from our check. "Eek! Methinks not." accurately describes how this "breakfast poutine" made me feel. The whatever-this-is (it's not gravy) dumped all over the fries looks like vomit, smells like cat food, and tastes like how I imagine cat food tastes. Disgusting. And I love poutine. I don't care that the fries were soggy, I like them that way. But they absorbed too much of the weird flavor from the slop to be edible. read more

I have ordered from Eggy's previously and have been very happy with everything. However, today's carryout order was really terrible. It was for myself and two co-workers. I ordered 2 BLTs with fries and a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were delicious but the rest of the order was AWFUL. The fries (both orders) were severely undercooked to the point they couldn't be eaten and the sandwich was a lettuce sandwich vs. a BLT (just 2 small pieces of bacon) - it was bread with a side salad. Okay, so this place is hard to find! My friends and I had directions but eventually we had to take a cab who also got lost. Once we found it, we were so relieved and I'll never forget how to get there now! The inside is small but very modern and it even smells new inside. We asked our server and he said it had only been open for 5 weeks! I had read so much about this place online, I knew i had to check it out. I just had iced tea while my friends had coffee. They were great about refills, I never even had to ask! The Benedict was out of this world! I pride myself as an eggs Benedict connoisseur but I was no naive! It starts with some delicious cornbread, topped with maple-glazed pork belly, arugula, poached eggs, and the most delectable brown butter hollandaise. I definitely recommend this to benedict lovers, this dish is so different but so welcomed to the traditional brunch scene. I do wish the dish had come with a side, I was still a bit hungry afterwards! My friends got regular eggs, pancakes, and a breakfast sandwich and they weren't overly impressed but they weren't disappointed. The service was great and prompt, and our server even offered to split our check 3 ways without even asking us! I was impressed with the service that's for sure! read more

We came for breakfast with a 45 minute wait, but that's to be expected on a Saturday morning (the wait wasn't bad at all due to a dog park right across the street for some cute entertainment). Our waitress was very sweet and attentive and the place is cute. The food was phenomenal. The pancakes are great, spanish Omelette was very good and the Eggy's burger was huge in size and taste lol. The whole group loved what the got. Pretty good portion sizes for the price. Overall we would all be happy to come back next time we visit Chicago!! read more

Just had lunch here with my sister for the first time and loved it. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and it was great. My sister had an omelet and really liked hers too. The menu has a nice variety of offerings and prices are pretty consistent with the area. (Meal for 2 with tip was $25. Can't beat that for a nice sit down meal.) I also really love that the location is in the Lakeshore East area on the park level. It gives the spot a more private vibe than being up on Randolph like Wildberry. Being new they still have a lot to work on. Waited at least 5 mins before anyone greeted us, even though the hostess passed by us several times. Once seated the server was very nice and attentive. Menu is very small. The Green Eggs and Ham were excellent, but it's very small. My friend had the Verb, he wasn't happy with it. So this little diner type place is right behind our hotel, so we had to check it out. Have had breakfast there twice already and it is a solid place. Both visits we have been seated quickly- passed up another nearby place with a big line today- and had excellent friendly service both iists. Very quick coffee- necessary for me to demonstrate consciousness in the morning, and I loved that you get a little pitcher of it so you don't have to flag anyone down to get more. The coffee itself is pretty good. Food is good, arrives quickly, hot and fresh. Nothing out of the ordinary but solid. I do have to confess that while I am normally a very adventurous eater, this does not apply to breakfast. Eggs, bacon, english muffin. Good enough for me...and the version here is very good indeed. The home fries are crispy and tender inside...the whole wheat toast was pretty large and uninteresting on day one so switched to the English muffin on day two- much better. The service is first rate....had different servers each day and they were both attentive, friendly, and entertaining. What more could you possibly want for breakfast.... read more

5 of us went here for brunch on a Friday AM when we were told we had "over an hour or an hour and a half" wait at the wild berry down the street. We saw another group arrive who had also been told of a long wait at Wildberry. We all loved our meals and the service was great- good expansive menu and virtually everyone had some sort of "special request"- all handled cheerfully and correctly. I've had Eggy's on 2 separate occasions, so I will rate as a combo of both. The first time I would have said a 4-5 based on the meal I got, this time, probably a 2 at best. Both times I ordered the same thing, and got it delivered, which is why I wasn't able to rectify the second orders crap-tasticness. I am not one to make Yelp reviews, however I am hoping someone at Eggy's sees this and makes sure it doesn't happen again. Both times I ordered the Eggy's Eggs Benedict, which is waffles, pulled pork, poached eggs and a brown butter hollandaise. First time, amaze-balls. This time, there was literally maybe a tablespoon of the hollandaise over the entire thing, barely covering the eggs... it left the entire dish very dry and I was very disappointed. Please please, Eggy's cooks, make sure you're not completely skimping on the hollandaise, without it, egg's benny is NOTHING! read more

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Stopped in with a few buddies on a Saturday afternoon for breakfast while on a weekend trip from Indy and it was delicious. I had the French toast with fresh fruit which included a large portion of bananas, blueberries, and strawberries. Aside from the food, the service was also outstanding. Our server, Jessica, was spot on with everything and one of the best servers I've ever had. It was a great restaurant experience and I definitely recommend this spot to anyone read more

My family visited Eggys a few months back during our trip to Chicago. We visited different breakfast places during that week and this one was by far my favorite. For one, our son loves waffles, and the fact that this was offered on their kids menu was awesome. I had a skillet, and I've never had one like this before. The potatoes were amazing and the meat was perfect! My husband had chicken and waffles, and while he was more fond of the waffle than the chicken, he tasted my skillet and was impressed. We both agreed that it was the bomb!!! I also ordered Apple French toast was was also amazing!!! Overall, I LOVED this place. The only part that wasn't so enjoyable were a few gnats. Having food with lots of syrup, they were quite annoying putting a little damper on our experience. The service and food were great though so the next time we are in Chicago this place is a must visit! We loved it!!! read more

Food is great. Whoever answers the phone for takeout is the opposite. Grubhub told me it would be 2 hrs before my food arrived. I called to inquire. She was VERY short. VERY rude. Hung up on me. I called back. Another girl answered and informed me that the aforementioned girl had CANCELLED my order without my consent. Her attitude was so extreme that Grubhub reached out to me after they contacted and interacted with her about my order cancellation, asked questions about whether my experience was as poor as theirs, and apologized on her behalf. Ridiculous. They've lost a customer and will continue to do so if they don't do something about their lack of customer service. What a disappointment. read more

This is our go to place for breakfast before Bears home games. I had a friend and her 2 nieces (16&18 y.o.) in town last Sunday, so we went to Eggy's and it was great as usual. The wait was about 25 minutes @ 9AM, but the dog park is right there to kill some time watching Match dot com Canine Edition. Coaster pagers would be useful here, also an outdoor stroller corral. The nieces had the Nutella crepes, while my friend and I shared the Nutella french toast and a side of corned beef hash. The food and service was excellent. I LOVE this diner! Great for breakfast or lunch but breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and eggys does not disappoint. The chilaquiles is my favorite breakfast item although their potatoes are delicious so every now and then I get a skillet which are great too. This was a bigger problem as it was quite cold near the door. Everything needs to be taken up a notch but a decent place for breakfast in an area that needs it! I wanted so much to like this place - its close - has exactly the kind of food I love but apparently they have no desire to succeed. Opening week - they were great - great food - great service - at least our experience was great. But we heard whispers around the neighborhood - service was confused, food was not so tasty. We kept telling everyone to give it a try because we thought the complaints were teething troubles. Alas - three months after opening they seem to have deteriorated and gone from bad to worse. First I took a friend to lunch and we both ordered the exact same salad. Halfway through the meal she discovered that her salad was missing some ingredients. When we asked - the lady at the counter simply brought some of the missing stuff in a bowl and plonked it down on the table. No apology - nothing. I persisted in calling them teething troubles. Then I went in for lunch recently and two people in our party never received the bread that comes with the order of eggs. Our waiter had disappeared. At the end of the meal I finally asked someone to call our waiter and asked him why he had not given us the bread. He apologized and then disappeared again. I looked for him again - by this time we were all standing and ready to leave and I wanted to pay the bill. He handed me a full fare bill. Seriously? You give me half the meal and charge me full price? When I objected - they called out the manager - I complained about the service and she told us we were not obliged to eat at her restaurant. Oh - thats right. Thanks for telling me that! She did not charge us for the meal but did it so ungraciously that I was tempted to throw some money at her face. Goodbye Eggy - I guess there may be a few people like us who will be naive enough to return to you again but this is a restaurant that has apparently decided it wants to fail. Too bad. We have eaten at Eggy's 15+ times since it opened. It is just across the park from us and that makes it a walking distance. That said, we would not have gone back if the food had not been worth eating. Their food is excellent! We have never had a less than excellent order and many have been truly outstanding. It is comfort food in the true since of the word. They know how to poach an egg, they will modify an order to please you, they have creative dishes. An excellent place for breakfast, brunch, lunch. Too bad they are not open later in the day. They can be crowded during rush hours but most of the time seating is pretty easy. Wonderful, attentive staff! First visit today. We waited 45 minutes which wasn't a problem as we had planned on it (St. Patty's Day Saturday, after all!) I had the Denver omelette and my brother had the Gyro omelette. My brother loved the Greek omelette, and mine was delicious as well. Potatoes were prepared as other reviewers said in that they are very tender inside, and really crispy on the outside. Not greasy at all! But, I would have wanted more spices. Or "some" flavor. I would say this about the omelette, too. I don't like complicated food, but I think some flavor was needed. Bread was fresh, and portions were really large, but not obnoxious. Service was outstanding! I'll be back! We were originally going to go to Wildberry, but couldn't stomach the 1.5 hour wait. Google told us about Eggy's Diner. I was sceptical about the name. Sceptical no more, I tried the verb omlette based on all the reviews and it was delicious. I ordered blueberry pancakes as my side. They had fresh blueberries on the top and inside. Really delicious. They serve intelligentsia coffee. It was more than I could eat, but I wanted to eat it all. I went at the crack of dawn to Wildberry to see what I missed.
