Eggys is a great little diner with a great back story! The food is great, there are American and Mexican options and a bar, would be a great spot for brunch! They seem like they're usually pretty busy so try to go early. The service was amazing. Out of all the places we tried during our visit to Chicago, Eggys had the quickest service and was one of the only restaurants we visited that actually got both our orders correct. Came here for breakfast because it had good reviews on yelp. Honestly, i don't know why they're rated so high. The food was OK and the service was mediocre. We were seated in the middle of the dining room when there were clearly booths on the outskirts. There was only two of us so i dont understand this placement. Strike one. We were then approached by our waiter and kindly asked for another minute. He gave us 15-20minutes. Even when we tried to make eye contact with him, he hid in the back. We tried asking help from someone else, no one else would help. Strike two. A million years later we finally got our food. We ordered the Crab Benedict and a short stack of pancakes. The crab portion tasted decent but was very salty, the english muffin beneath was really hard possibly because it was over toasted? There's not much to say about the pancakes. Here visiting from out of state and decided to yelp breakfast places. This place came up with great reviews and close by our hotel. Love the decor and vibe in Eggy's. We were sat promptly and greeted right away by our server David. He was very friendly and never made us feel rushed. We ordered the Biscuit Benedict and BYO omelette. Back home eggs benedict are usually served on English muffins, what an amazing taste to put them on biscuits. Heavenly!!! Excellent choice for breakfast/brunch. FYI this place is super hard to find if ya ask me! It is in an office park/building and you more or less have to take stairs/elevators and corridors to find it! The staff is very accommodating and the food was fantastic! (The Milk Shakes were just okay). Updating Yelp reviews with the new rating scale. I have been to Eggy's quite a bit as my marathon training running group meets up there after runs occasionally. With COVID-19, they have a large patio area in a vacant lot, which is great. Also, there are movies played at that location at night for the community. I really enjoy Eggy's, especially their skillets and omelettes. Their portion sizes are huge, which makes it a great value. Prices are average for Chicago at about $10-$15/entree. Their Bloody Mary's are spicy and solid. I don't think they have a full bar, but I know you can get Bloody Mary's, mimosas, and beer. Service has only been ok and nothing memorable. They tend to forget about you until you ask for the check. So that could be an improvement. Lastly, their wait times are never as bad as Wildberry's right down the street as they cater more toward the Lakeshore East community. Eggy's is not as good as Wildberry's, but the long wait times are a huge problem at Wildberry's as tourists flock to it. Overall, Eggy's is a solid breakfast place to avoid the crowds! read more

Skillets here are absolutely delicious, and the portion sizes are generous. They have extended hours now which is nice if you're fiending for a healthy protein filled meal at 6 pm. Hard to find but totally worth it. Our Uber driver even asked us if he should wait (we had 2 kids with us). Even though it was hard to find the place was packed. I ordered Eggy's Benedict cause I mean waffles with maple glazed pork?? Sadly it sounded better than it was. The pork was bland (but dry) and I had to add salt and ask for maple syrup myself. The waffle was soggy by the time I got to it so it was quite mushy. Potatoes lacked flavor big time! Only 2 out of that whole pile we're good - savory and sweet with a good crispy skin. Sunday morning you would expect it to be busy. When we checked online the the wait said 40 min so we got on the list and headed over. Even being on the wait list we waited an additional 50 minutes once we got there. Food was good and fast once we got seated. The major issue was the hosts attitude towards the patrons. She seemed to have control issues and was incompetent at managing the tables by guest group size. Our experience was acceptable but anticlimactic. The thing that offended me the most was how she treated a couple coming in after the rush. They asked to not be seated at the front because of the draft. The hostess acted like she was super offended and made a big deal that they would need to wait another 20 minutes basically back to the end of the line if the wanted to get a different table than what she had picked for them. That's my two cents for what it's worth. Go there if time is not an issue at all and you don't mind snippy staff. read more

WAIT TIME: We Checked In online and picked this place based on the waitlist convenience. (My Fav!) When we checked in the app originally said it's a 14-30 minute wait but unfortunately we are still waiting with two parties ahead of us. My Sister ended up getting a few small sides, and the hasbrowns are actually not shredded potatoes (they're like potato wedges) and they're BOMB.
