The first thing I noticed walking in was the ambiance. Nice decor with a city hotspot feel. We had a teen and tween with us and both found something on the menu. Most of us ordered bowls with sesame sauce which were delicious. We each ordered different meats with our bowls and no complaints. My son had a crispy chicken sandwich which he devoured and my daughter had a quesadilla which they prepared especially for her without any sauce. Everything was tasty. We had a problem with our order when my daughter found a small piece of plastic wrapper in her food. We told our waiter and he immediately informed management. The manager came over and offered a new plate but my daughter was fine having the current plate. So instead, she comped her meal and gave her a choice of dessert with a gigantic milk. Despite the minor glitch, this place deserves 5 stars for the way they handled this issue. We feel they went above and beyond to remedy the situation. If only all restaurant management were like this. If we are ever in Chicago again, we will be back.

The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. It is a must visit - if only all hotel restaurants were this good. We had a late dinner reservation on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was almost emptied out. So that made for a lovely, semi-private dining experience. Selecting a wine was dicey, as earlier that week flooding had damaged the cellar (!), but our server, Alex, was very helpful and worked with us to find something to my liking. We landed on a 2015 Cornas which was showing beautifully and matched perfectly with our meal. Alex did a fantastic job taking care of us during the wine reconnaissance and throughout the meal. Speaking of which, we started with the deviled eggs, which were amazing. An elegant balance of cream and salt from the caviar. For my entree, i had the venison. It was a seared filet on I believe a sweet potato puree, and it was rich and tender. Order it rare, if its on the menu. Kelly had the filet, also rare, and found it to be superior to most Chicago steak house filets. Our side was the divinely creamy Aligot mashed potatoes. Don't skip on these! For dessert, there was a decadent, gout-tempting chocolate mousse preparation. Served tableside, its all you think you can eat. I had a heaping serving, ate some, took the rest home. Kelly had the (also) Decadent Chocolate Cake, which too was superb. Cocktails were excellent, as is the bourbon selection. Service was impeccable. Our dinner was long and leisurely, and we look forward to returning.

When you first walk in, you have to take the elevator up to the third floor, where a hostess was waiting at a golden black themed restaurant. This place is extremely ornate and luxurious as you walk in and greeted by a full air bar where all the liquor is positioned up in a translucent brass cabinet. Walking a little bit further into the restaurant, you see all of the chairs decorated with a gold studded Maroon leather. The tall ceilings give way to a illuminated faux skylight. The seating designs are minimal designed. We thought we were walking into a brunch menu but they had transitioned to lunch and re-ordered the lobster roll as well as the asparagus tip and almond pasta and the sweet potato fries.

Unfortunately the rest of my food and my dining partners' food did not arrive until at least 10 minutes later. I can understand that mixups happen, but I was annoyed because I could see that the rest of our dishes were sitting under the heating lamp but no one delivered them to our table for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, 2 tables near us who had arrived significantly after us, had already received all of their food and started eating. When I received my beef and gravy pie, it was dried out (having ordered this the past 2 visits, I knew it wasn't right). Based on this recent experience, I don't think I'd return.

The waitress Mellisa V. apologized and said this was the first time this happened that someone cleared the table before we were ready. We did not even get the check yet. The waitress went to back to see if she could find our food. The problem I have with this is that the person that busted the table our change purse was still on thprobably put our stuff in with dirty dishes and other stuff. Melissa made my friend a new salad and said she found mine. I don't know if it was in the trash or what. Once it leaves the table and went in the buse tub it should not be given to the consumer.I called back that Sat. spoke with someone and she said she would send a gift card . I never heard anything.

We could have stood by the door and waited some more. But the service and food were very good! Our server was Jose, who was excellent while checking on us several times to make sure everything was good. The vanilla latte that he recommended was delicious! I ordered the 3 Egg Ham 'n Cheese Omelet with mushrooms and my daughter had the Eggs Benedict. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned correctly. Yummy! For dessert, we shared the delicious Cinnamon Roll Waffle, made perfectly, of course. We were surprised when we received our check, which was $92 for breakfast plus 20% tip. Anywhere else It would be around $65 but we were here on vacation. We were in Chicago for another 5 days but we did not come back here. There were many other breakfast places on the Riverfront that were equally good and much less expensive. My rating was 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

I need to update my review. A) I went for the dinner service the pasta was WONDERFUL B) The pasta was the smallest priciest dish of pasta I have ever had in my entire life (and I generally enjoy pasta at pretty high end/pricey places) The portion was the SO SMALL and at $18 a pop - - - was a complete rip off. I was shocked at the portion size -- it was a side dish at BEST! Honestly at BEST. C) The service was so stripped down, with inexperienced waitstaff, that dawdled the absolute VAST majority of the time. Every table was looking around looking for their server. I watched our food be plated and served up in the window, while our server kinda aimlessly walked around the room ignoring everyone. Then sat down to prep silverware and clean a few tables, as everyone stared at him wondering -- "what the hell are you doing right now?" D) The piece of coconut cake I ate - -had a STAPLE in it and it crunched on my tooth! I have had this cake before and enjoyed it, it does TASTE good SANS STAPLES. E) There is NO management here making sure the ship runs smooth or showing the servers how to prioritize duties - - serve the food, check on tables, prep the restaurant, replenish drinks, repeat, constantly. The second food is up stop everything else you are doing and go and get it. After (yes I timed it) 10 minutes of our food sitting in the window our brainless server went to get it. It was also fun watching him stand on the footstool to even SEE the food was there. So while I see improvements in the food...staples, bad service, and prices vs portions - leave me worried that Maison (run by the same people) will be filled with problems and basic restaurant operational problems. First time at this new breakfast place today. Nice people there I'll say that. Everyone is very pleasant and they obviously LIKE to serve people. It's a new place, so some of the kinks will surely be worked out if managed correctly. I had the "Peter and The Wolf" for breakfast, a nice dish of homemade pastrami hash with two eggs and toast. This is a nice variation on the typical corned beef hash, and homemade, but was lacking just a bit in the spice department. I think they're going for a "let the flavors speak for themselves" kind of approach which is fine, but I was hoping for a little zing or another aspect of the dish to make it more interesting and flavorful. Maybe some more veggies in it and a little spice? Still very very good, though! I also sampled the fried cheese curds which were out of this world. Sweet and savory. My favorite! I also like the diversity of staff members there too. You've got the young waitstaff, a few old veterans and just a good mix of cultural diversity. Absolutely loved my visit to Eggy's Diner! Their Eggs Benedict was a standout; perfectly poached eggs with pulled pork that was truly chef's kiss. You know I love a good eggs benny. The potatoes were also a highlight: so unique and exactly how I like them. I'm a big fan of chunky breakfast potatoes, and these definitely delivered. Their omelette was pretty decent too, and the pancakes just hit the spot: simple, satisfying, and exactly what you want from a good breakfast. The London Fog was another hit and paired perfectly with the meal. Service was swift and quick, and they were always checking in on the food. It wasn't too busy early in the morning, which made for a smooth visit. The ambiance was perfect, got seated right away, and the free WiFi was a nice bonus. This has terrible service. 2+ hour wait for brunch. Server continued to leave us alone no updates when others that had come in after us were being served. Server not watching outside tables finally had to ask to be seated inside. Won't be back. Update: The manager made his apologies to me on Yelp. Here is the thing: I've never written a yelp review before, this experience was so bad (service and attitude to service) that I felt compelled to do so. If you look through the reviews you will see a ton with the same experience and the manager apologizing. Talk and the written word for that matter are very very cheap. Perhaps Eggy's can survive on orders from the building they are in. But my guess is it will not survive. if you're looking for a destination in Loring park go elsewhere. Eggy's Diner hits different when you're craving a hearty brunch in the city. We went with the Eggy's Breakfast Sandwich, and it was stacked--bacon, greens, red onion jam, and that herb aioli on a toasted bun? Fire. The Country Fries Skillet was a beast: crispy fries, fried chicken, mushrooms, onions, all smothered in sausage gravy with sunny side eggs on top--total comfort food vibes. Added a side of pancakes and they were fluffy and buttery, just how grandma used to make 'em. To wash it all down, Tried the Chocolatini--dessert in a glass, rich and smooth with a kick. Service was chill and the retro diner feel made it feel like a neighborhood spot, even though it's tucked downtown. Ate a great breakfast at this spot. We arrived around 9. Walking in we found the place packed with tables lined close together. After waiting about 8-10 minutes we were seated next to a family and a young couple. I ordered the Denver Omelet and my husband ordered a breakfast bowl. Both were so delicious. We also ordered oj and a screwdriver. After 1 sip I knew the oj was freshly squeezed. Overall 3 drinks plus food cost around $50. The reason I didn't give this place a 5 star is because the tables are very close together. We could hear both conversations happening around us. So be aware of that. read more

I haven't been at Eggys Diner since october and oh'boy how I missed their delights! There's now a huge open patio available, to fit a good amount off people meanwhile still respecting social distancing. Our waitress kim was helpful and nice and we chose to order an American and Gyro skillet and they were just as good as before! Also for two people the price of 28.94 sounds fantastic. FYI this use to be a family restaurant, I find that all the waitresses had way to revealing short shorts. That is very unpleasant and disrespectful for family's with young kids.. read more

My wife and I decided to stop by at Eggys Diner today for some lunch, we were looking forward to sitting outside but we noticed the patio was a bit too busy for our comfort, the host suggested some tables that are right in front of the restaurant window (outside) Which was still a great idea so we decided to head over, although it took about 10 min before anyone acknowledged us. Once we ordered our food it was out quickly. Let me say the food was spot on! Everything was delicious and the complimentary cup of soup topped it off. We will definitely come back. read more

Just happened to be walking by it on our way to the Field Museum and were wondering where we would eat, so we stopped in. Quaint little place inside the Pittsfield building. We were greeted and seated promptly. Decent sized menu and they serve breakfast all day, so it worked out well for us. I'm not a breakfast person, so i ordered the Pastrami sandwich, but my daughter ordered pancakes w/strawberries and sausage. Food came up quickly and it was good. We ate every morsel on both of our plate. Service was good as well. We'd return.

The food was mediocre, presented without imagination or flavor. Our waitress was not well trained and came off as rude. And the restaurant preemptively added an 18% tip for our table of two, which was represented as customary since the pandemic. It is not, though we do expect the special 3% fee that many restaurants have added since the pandemic. Sorry, Sunny Side Up. If we give you another try, it will be a while.

Wonderful Breakfast…read more Sunny Side Up was incredible! The Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious--both were so well done and full of flavor. The side of breakfast potatoes could be seasoned a bit more, otherwise perfect. The pancakes were also perfect for the kids, which made it an especially great breakfast spot for our family. Everything felt welcoming and relaxed, and the staff was genuinely friendly and accommodating. Such a wonderful place for a delicious breakfast, especially if you're dining with kids. We'll definitely be back!

The biscuits and gravy were my favorite! The gravy was thick and tasty. Both had a ton of toppings and were typical brunch food. Only downside was our food was not warm. Overall this place is tasty if you're willing to wait! I always take friends and family that are visiting here and it never disappoints. The portions are large and worth the price. Our server was really nice and accommodating, knowing we were there to catch up after a while. She was always checking in on us. A bonus was the live entertainment! My only downside is that they had the windows and door open, so there were flies we had to fight off. I chose to sit inside for two reasons: to avoid bugs and the heat. Having the windows and doors open defeats the purpose of indoor dining. Overall, I'd like to check out their dinner menu, and I'm down to come here again!

ETA only has the breakfast service then the lobby cover the whole day till 11pm. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. My teen ordered the Chicago breakfast two times in a row. I switched between steak/egg and Parfait with croissants. Both were really good. For lunch or dinner, I recommend the lobster roll which was not too creamy but with the decent meat and mixed well with chopped celery and dill. Just the way I liked. Brussels sprouts with Shinto peppers was another my favorite. Just a good combination with an Asian sweet glaze over them. Services were really to the point. The manager was visiting every table to make sure folks are taken care of.

It was nice when greeted at the door and lead to a decent size dinning area with a full bar. While food overall isn't spectacular, it meets expectations and does the job before you go on with your day. We didn't have the chance to try dinner there but maybe next time.

I ordered a red wine and it was served warm. Not room temp, WARM. This place is way too inconsistent and we will not be returning.
