Easter morning. The most pitiful example of food service. Ever. Took our order with complete disregard for preferences. Asked for eggs dry, brought out slimy eggs atop what could have been yummy sausage and potatoes. Not once did he come by to check on our meal, despite the fact mine was uneaten. After finally getting his attention from the herd of wait staff that were ignoring tables, he tossed our credit card onto the table without a thank you. Fantastic food. Often crowded, you might have to wait. My favorite place in the "New East Side." (Wildberry is great, but pricey and a tad overrated, imho.). Good coffee. Great pancakes. And they now serve alcohol! For best portions, go omelette or skillet. Green eggs and ham are amazing. The Eggy's special is a wonderful classic breakfast. Poor customer service. We live in the neighborhood and eat here often. This time We were told it would be a 30 minute wait because there were 7 parties ahead of us on the "no wait" app who weren't even there yet. So they were holding the tables for when they show up versus seating customers who are there and ready to eat. I will not return because of this. Hopefully management will learn that customers in the door are more important than those waiting to arrive. read more

Great place for breakfast in a more residential neighborhood. the food was good the wait wasn't horrible 45 min for 11am on Memorial day. My husband had the chicken and waffles which included a whole half chicken. The coleslaw side was also excellent. I had chocolate chip pancakes- duh- I am a fatty who cannot resist chocolate, ESPECIALLY on vacation. Only caveat? No iced lattes- boo. The wait was frustrating since I had been on the waitlist before I showed up but the food was worth it. We had the breakfast poutine and the crunchy Nutella French toast. The breakfast poutine was so filling we probably could've just split that! I'm glad we got the French toast because it was so tasty. It was a little on the sweet side but it was really tasty. Fantastic service and excellent meal. I only got the green eggs and ham but based on that dish alone, I am so glad I tried this place. My waitress was extremely friendly and attentive, and didn't make us feel bad that my companion wasn't ordering food. I also didn't want ham in my dish (despite the clever name, but I worry how salty ham can be), and she was happy to substitute any type of meat they offered, so I chose bacon. Incredible flavor and I LOVE the concept of grits as the base with two eggs your way, and meat on type with this sauce that made you want to lick the plate. We found this diner by chance, it was just behind where we were staying in The Loop. We went there for breakfast on the second day (we tried to go on the fourth too, but it was so busy there was a 45 minute wait!). The food was incredible, and the service was awesome too. What was even more impressive was the gluten free options which we really didn't expect. Price wise it was very reasonable too! Not typical diner food by any means. Breakfast tacos. Country Benedict. Tons of omelets. When I looked around most people seem to be having an omelet. They looked good. I actually ordered a more traditional eggs with biscuits and gravy. It was good. Bring at the counter I had to ask for refills and for my check as the guy behind the counter was busy making milkshakes. I almost ordered one myself.. What a great breakfast place. When I'm in town I usually go to Yolk, but I decided to branch out and discovered Eggys online. It's in a cool, hidden location, way down a flight of steps from Wacker Drive, tucked away in a part of town that feels like it's at the bottom of a deep valley, with tall buildings on all sides and a small park in the center. The first day I had the American Skillet. It was loaded with sausages and delicious. I had it with a pancake instead of toast, and it was pretty filling. The coffee was great as well. I came back the next day for the Colorado omelet, just because it sounded so unique, with turkey, avocado, salsa and mozzarella. It was very good, and tasted different than any omelet I've ever eaten. On Wed. and Thurs. mornings, the place was not packed, so I was seated right away. The waiters were all nice and attentive.
