A nice change from the usual pub fare. Craft beers and interesting takes on burger and pub fare make this a great choice for lunch or early dinner. Parking is a little tough and you can roll right past the place if you're paying to traffic, which can be quite heavy given the area, but it's worth finding! read more

EGP was AMAZING. We started with the EGP platter (pretzel, cheesesteak rolls, and mac n cheese balls). All which were so good and hard to choose which was my favorite!!! The French Onion Dip sandwich was so juicy and really reminiscent of the soup. There were even cheese covered croutons under the sandwich. I really enjoyed their homemade condiments (garlic aioli and bacon ranch) to pair with their fries! Lastly, we had the banana bread fosters dessert which was banana bread that was fried to perfection and topped with a classic banana fosters sauce! It is a must! Our server Maria made great recommendation and was super friendly and attentive! Loved the whole experience!! read more

was going to try this place for my son's 35th birthday celebration. my family's lived in oceanside most of my life. signage was so poor drove by it 3-4 times before actually found it. got out of the truck to hear some terrible -- and loud -- cover band playing . . . the singer said: the more you drink the better we sound . . . totally turned off. didn't even bother going in the first reaction was THAT bad . . . this is how you lose customers before you even give yourself a shot . . . figured if that's how you do business, why bother . . . ended up at a pub in rockville centre and had a far better time than we might've here . . . read more

Five stars still after years of coming here. I am extremely picky and have very high standards when it comes to ingredients and the preparation of my food. It's clear that after a few years, EGP was able to build a brand around just that. Not many establishments can say they've branded themselves. Usually it's the same old "sandwich house" or "fusion wine bar" but EGP is different. The owner is so involved with the business and making sure all patrons are beyond satisfied with their experiences, it's what adds value to customer experiences here. Customer service is fantastic and all servers/bartenders are beyond friendly. Tons of my friends always recommend coming here as a top five choice. Great beer/wine/cocktails too, it's a prime spot to have a quick meal/drink or a full party sit down. Did I mention there's nothing quite like this place? Keep up the great work guys! read more

I love the menu. It's an interesting variety of flavorful and unique choices. I don't feel this place is comparable to other "burger joints" or pub food menus, as they do have healthy options. The service is great. However on a busy day you could be waiting a looong time to be seated, and it can get really loud. I recommend The Skinny Chick it was delicious! read more

Went to brunch with some of the boys and this was the place that was picked. We had to move the reservation back and they were very accommodating to our party of 8. The establishment was nice and the food was amazing. I got the country fried steak and I'd recommend it. The portions were fair and I left feeling satisfied. The bottomless drinks were not bottomless though and the refills were slow. Otherwise the service was pretty good. I would go again read more

We eat at eat 2x a month and it is always excellent. Tonight got the butchers choice which was a pork chop with a special gravy and mashed squash that was outstanding. I was stationed in a pig farming village in Germany where the pork was fresh and amazing and this was better than anything we ever ate with our neighbors. Run don't walk to EAT! Super delicious offerings from a varied menu. It was hard to choose but I settled on the philly cheesesteak eggrolls - yum! Guest had a burger with bacon jam, tomato jam, frizzled onions and cheese on a pretzel roll - with a giant portion of sweet potato fries that were cooked perfectly. It was lunch, so we stuck to iced tea and soda but there was a modest crowd at the bar on this Thursday afternoon. Great waiter - Neil - efficient, warm and accurate. Cannot wait to return. And I realized this location used to be Jake Russell's - the Dad of a HS friend. Small world and extra points for nostalgia. Space is lovely, roomy, clean and felt safe even in the time of this crazy pandemic. Thank you EGP! read more

I have never gone here & not had a great time. The food is absolutely incredible. For example, if I was on Death Row and had to choose my last meal, I'd choose EGP's lobster mac, buffacue wings and a cold Victory Golden Monkey. The bartending team is always friendly, funny, and entertaining. They offer great happy hour and Sunday football specials. During the summer, the outside section is tons of fun and I highly recommend it. Some nights will include a live band which is usually pretty good. If you've never been here, you're missing out. I've been coming here for years now, and have yet to review it, but I figured it was time to share my affinity for this fine establishment. read more

EAT GASTROPUB has been bookmarked from me for a while now and I was excited to finally get a chance to come here but idk if the hype was built up or I just wasn't impressed.. When you walk in the bar is right there. If you keep walking they have a semi-large dining area for people looking for that restaurant experience. Upon arrival I was looking for a hostess but a guy jumped up from the bar table and told us to walk to the back. We were seated and given menus to look over. I decided to try a couple of appetizers so I can get a range of items I was interested in. They are very pricey because I ordered the EGP platter and it was $28 and only had a pretzel, cheesesteak egg rolls and buffalo chicken egg rolls. The egg rolls were obviously cut in half so you're really getting two each on a huge plate with cute presentation to make it seem like you're getting a lot. Such a rip off. I also ordered the buffaque wings which are self explanatory-- a mix of buffalo and barbecue sauce. These I liked. They were crisp and covered in the right amount of sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac & that I could've lived without. Not enough lobster and I wasn't a fan of the cheeses used. Waste of $14. Everything on the kids menu is $10 but I'll say that it might be worth it. Upon ordering I was upset with the price because kids menu items are never usually priced at $10 but the burger came at it was very large. I shared it with my daughter and it was really good. Pretzel bun and you could tell that it was fresh and homemade and I loved that. I liked the fries too because they were crispy but not too crunchy and fresh as well. The service was subpar. The waitress was a nice girl but I was seated next to a table where the waitresses kept coming to to hang out or eat their lunch and I didn't like the fact that all I could hear while trying to enjoy my meal was them talking so loudly. They didn't seem to be paying attention to their tables and I just am not a fan of that. I'm iffy about returning. I had an ok experience. I might come back to try other items on the menu but then again I might not. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't what I was expecting either. Damn me for having high expectations! read more

EAT has became one of my favorite spots on the south shore. First off, EAT has an awesome selection of craft beers with several local offerings. The tap list is right up there with the Black Sheep Ale House. The Black Sheep offers cask ales and a detailed beer menu, so I prefer the beer experience at Black Sheep. EAT sets itself apart with its food menu. The appetizers, salads, and burgers are creative. It's not the same old menu you find at most bars. The house special EAT burger I had was delicious. The pretzel was outstanding. The tomato sauce and cheese provided elements of creaminess and savory along with a hint of herbs. The fried onions gave it a nice crunch. The French fries were super crispy. The burger made for a delicious compliment to my beer. The service is friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. The atmosphere is laid back with some games playing on tv along with alt rock jams playing in the background. read more

First time at EAT Gastropub Cool decor, very modern. Attentive wait staff and timely service. The menu was typical pub fare, with custom spins on traditional meals. We ordered the pretzel tower which was pretty good and presumably home made, comes with an incredible cheese dip too! For dinner I picked the weirdest/most untraditional burger I could find. That was the EAT burger: -homemade patty -bacon jam -tomato jam -fondue cheese -crispy onions -pretzel bun Definitely a flavor party in my mouth. There was really nothing I didn't like about the burger to be honest. Cooked right and the flavors completed each other. (They also have a killer spread of homemade aioli's that come with the burger) Only negative I could say was that it was messy, but then again is that really all that bad? read more

EGP Gastropub - Gastropubs Near Me - Oceanside, New York

Last night we visited #5 of our 9 restaurant Newsday top 100 bucket list; EAT Gastropub. All I can say is the food is sensational, and for us the service provided by Brianna was great. We really enjoyed ourselves and that's what it's all about. From an ambiance standpoint, the pub is warm and nicely dividend with a bar area, an inside restaurant, a sort of a sunroom-like dining area and an outdoor seating area for the summer. Out behind the restaurant there is also a nice patio with couches and chairs in case you have to wait for a table. But there is a lot of seating for a pub which is great. We started with the Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls, which were crunchy and tangy and served in a slurry of bleu cheese sauce that was nice and tangy. The presentation was neat and the flavors were excellent. For our entree's my wife asked if they could re-create their Grilled Cheese Meatloaf sandwich (See picture) and they said no problem. It's off the menu but they still serve their Meatloaf T.V. Dinner, so making the sandwich was easy. The sandwich comes with an abundance of melted cheese (white cheddar maybe?) and the meatloaf has great flavor with plenty of herbs and spices to wake up the house ground beef. The grilled Pullman bread is thick cut like Texas toast and is so crunchy it give the sandwich excellent texture. My son ordered the 50/50 burger (See Picture), and here is where we start to get into 5-star territory. The 50/50 burger has a meat patty that is 50% house ground beef (who does that?) and 50% house ground bacon (really, who DOES that?). The combination gives you a meaty flavor, but the bacon adds a slight salty-sweetness that is totally unique in a burger, One note, order it cooked medium-plus because the bacon is ground raw and you want to make sure it's cooked all the way through. Don't worry about the burger getting dry, the bacon also keeps juices running throughout the patty and onto your plate. Keep your napkin handy! Then they add some white cheddar cheese and these amazing fried potato sticks that add flavor and crunch to the burger. Top it off with an uber-fresh toasted brioche bun and this burger is a winner! I ordered the Daily Special Burger (check out THAT picture!). Hang on for this ride! I substituted the house ground burger with the 50/50 burger because I HAD to try that blend. Then they added the white cheddar cheese, and then it got funky. They add homemade cheese fondue (because you can never have too much cheese), tomato jam (better than ketchup any day), bacon jam which I could eat by itself with a spoon, and crispy fried onions. Top it off with that uber-fresh brioche bun and we are talking about a truly special Special Burger! My 5-star criteria is when I get something I can't get anywhere else. That is really hard to do with a burger, but EAT Gastropub pulled it off. If you can believe it, we still decided to share a dessert and we opted for the Cookie Sunday (See picture) even though it was Saturday. If you look at the picture, this pie-sized cookie is really more like a chocolate chip pancake; warm, soft and gooey. The vanilla ice cream was also soft so it didn't mangle the cookie, but instead sort of melted into it. Add sprinkles, white chocolate shavings and whipped cream and you have a dessert that was plenty enough for three people. EAT Gastropub is great and was well worth our 30-minute drive to get there. One suggestion: As the reputation increases more people are going to be visiting, and the signage is very hard to see from the street. They might want to consider something a little more visible. But otherwise, EAT is a great place to eat, and we will certainly look for opportunities to return. read more

EGP never fails to be amazing every single time. Service, food, atmosphere, all 10/10. Great staff. Always a family favorite

Imagine, it's a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so my wife and I decide to take a walk in the neighborhood. And as we are walking up Long Beach Road in Oceanside, I see EGP Gastropub. I tell her that I read some nice reviews of it on Yelp, and suggest we give it a try. Now, it's around 4pm, and when we enter we can see that the place is not crowded. A few guys at the bar, and a few people at the bar-tables. As we enter the dining area, we can see the place is 95% empty. As the hostess comes over, I tell her that we want to sit outside (this is being written during COVID days, and part of the attraction is their outdoor seating.) The outdoor area was TOTALLY empty, not a single customer sitting there. For some reason, she hems and haws, and then tells us, "well, I can seat you there, but we have people coming and you have to be out by 6:30." I replied that it was only 4pm, between mealtimes and we really just wanted some drinks." "Well, you have to be out of here by 6:30!" "Look at us, do we seriously look like people that would be drinking for 2 and a half hours????" She went off, and as minutes went by without her return, we strolled over to the outdoor area. A waitress came by and was also less than gracious. I replied with, "Yes, I know you have reservations. We just want a couple of drinks." "Oh, you have to order food, it's the new law." "We'll order some food" I said, "we aren't really hungry at this hour, but we'll get some appetizers." "Oh no. You have to order a meal for each person having a drink. It's the law." We know the new law, and that isn't what it says. It even allows people to split an appetizer, as long as there's a reasonable amount of food for each drinker. But at this point, frankly, we had had it. TWO STAFF members being not only ungracious, but frankly, really strange. We looked at each other and, as one does with one's partner, knew what the other was thinking. We turned and left. NEVER TO RETURN. We walked up the block, entered another nice restaurant with outdoor seating. We were treated with perfect politeness, ordered our drinks, and food, and had a lovely Sunday afternoon. read more

The first time I came here, I didn't realize they had a huge outdoor section! (Unless that recently opened). We thought it was strange there were open tables yet they told us there was a 15 min wait- when it turned into more like a half hour wait we asked what's up..they said they were only seating however many people their servers and kitchen could accommodate. No biggie, we had drinks at the bar which passed the time. Service was great once we got seated. I got the Mac n cheese burger, and usually I can't finish a burger but I finished evvvvery bite of this one!!! Enjoyed the fries with the dipping sauces on the table again. Too bad fall is here and I need to wait until next spring to eat in their outdoor garden again - but I'll be back to eat inside soon! read more

EGP Gastropub - Mac n' cheeseburger - Gastropubs Near Me - Oceanside, New York

This has got to be one of my favorite places to eat on LI. It's an experience in itself. Friends and I used to meet here for Netflix club ( like a book club, but with Netflix movies) and sit at the bar which was great. But I've also had table service too. I enjoy both- because the craft beer selection paired with the food (and even the plates your stuff comes on and presentation of it!) is fantastic. The appetizers are all good- I especially love the Mac n cheese spheres. But go slow, or plan to share because the appetizers are filling! And you will want room for the burgers. Holy shit, the 50:50 burger is a thing I dream about. If you are looking for a unique & delicious eating experience I recommend coming here. even if you are just looking to have a few beers, the bar is great too and there are a lot of local beers on tap which I appreciate. read more

My friend and I had come here over a year ago and werent thrilled. Not bad but not great. I had been seeing pictures of their chicken sandwich on instagram and needed to try it. To drink, i had a margarita which tasted okay but had way too much ice and too little drink for $12. We shared the buffacue wings as an app and they were 10 out of 10. I hate bbq sauce but the mix with the buffalo sauce was just right. The wings had a ton of meat on them and were really crispy. I had the crispy chicken sandwich which was ahhhmazing. I wasn't sure how i felt about cheese fondue on it but it was perfect and not too overwhelming. My friend had a cheeseburger on 2 grilled cheese and welllll who doesn't like grilled cheese.. We went all in and had the cookie sundae for dessert and i do not regret that decision. Soooo good. Will definitely be back! read more

Every bite was really really delicious. The chicken wings were juicy and flavored perfectly. We shared everything at the table so I had bites of dick tacos, two different salads and some chicken pot pie. It is definitely a pricier place. For $7 we got the smallest side order of fries I've ever had. However they were delicious. The have a giant Shiner Bock Bottle on the wall but when I asked for a Shiner Bock they said they didn't have Ilit. I thought that was kinda weird. For dessert we had the sampler. It was differnt types of chocolatey goodness. The best moment was when nobody was sure whether the ball ok the platter was edible. It was very hard. After a few differnt attempts to open it and a heated discussion about it being edible someone finally just manned up and took a hard bite. Turned out it was chocolate :) Overall I would come back again most definitely. Just know it's not a cheap meal! read more

Where to begin.. Why can't I find this place by just typing 'eat' ? The gastropub needs to be on the search in order for my little yelp app to find it. Other than that... This place was interesting . Came with the crowd that eats a bit late.. I thought for a Friday night it would have been a bit busier but it was what it was . The menu is broken up into a bunch of different sections from small bites to burgers.. Salads... Mac and cheese.. Etc. I asked the waitress what were her recommendations and she rattled off the daily specials and said the philly egg rolls.. And Mac and cheese balls were especially good.. However choosing not to opt in her choices I went with the duck mini tacos since I just try and dare to be different. Prepared In a timely manner they are quite mini! So mini they are a one bite wonder. 85% duck 10% pear? 5% sauce . All in all not bad but a little underwhelming. Would of been better if it came with a little serving of a slaw or just something to add on. For one of my first restaurant meals on Long Island it's pretty much priced like Manhattan. I guess my view can't be totally swayed since I didn't even try one of their fifty fifty burgers even though it sounds like something that might give me a heart attack. 50% ground bacon and 50% ground sirloin. Take a moment to mull that over .... Good but not overly impressed . read more

I went here on a Monday evening when the place I originally wanted to go to was closed, as so many restaurants seem to be on Mondays. EAT Gastropub was recommended by my future son-in-law, who knows how much I love good food at interesting restaurants. This place is all about comfort - both in food and decor, seating and serving. The staff was friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. The food! So very clever and creative, fun and delicious. Most ingredients are locally-sourced, with a list of providers so you'll know where they came from. Presentation is Guy Fieri-worthy, and totally whets the appetite. One bite of each dish, and the taste confirms the presentation. Bonus - their food is all fresh and non-GMO. Check out their menu at http://eatgastro.com/eat-menu/ to get an idea of what they offer. We went with the Philly Cheesesteak Egg-rolls - how could you not? - and an order of House-Made Bacon, smoked and sliced on premises. Both were delicious. My daughter and her fiancé grabbed their Frico Burger (wrapped in crispy Asiago cheese and served on a pretzel roll) so fast I din't have a chance to photograph it! I ordered the ridiculous Cure-All bacon double cheeseburger - two bacon-covered ground beef patties nested between two grilled-cheese sandwiches made with what some would call Texas Toast. I say ridiculous because, well, you can't eat the whole thing and it's hard to get in your mouth. I cut mine in half and took half home, which I just re-heated and ate as I sat down to write this review. I paired it with a Fried Mac N Cheese Cake, which thankfully my daughter and her fiancé split with me. Very rich, with a delicate crispy outer seasoned wrapping (think crab cake) and a delectable sauce. A beer flight was the perfect complement to all this great food, chosen from a nice selection of 24 very decent craft brews, all on tap. When we were finished eating, the waitress came with dessert menus! Hahahaha - fat chance! (Pun intended) - where am I going to put dessert after a meal like this? I have to go back to try their Buffacue Wings, Mini Duck Tacos and Cheese Brat Sliders appetizers and their Eat Burger that comes with cheddar cheese, tomato jam, bacon jam (!), gorgonzola fondue and crispy onions on a pretzel roll. They also have a nice selection of Wieners, including a Macin Cheese Dog with crumbled bacon. O.M.G. Obviously, I can't say enough good things about this place. Oh - the prices are reasonable, too. Highly recommended by this foodie. read more

A lively addition to the Oceanside restaurant scene, EGP is best described as a hipster, trendy pub with a local feel. I went with a friend at around 7PM on a Saturday night. We were told there was a 15 minute wait and were seated promptly within that time. The restaurant has a small bar area which was packed with as large seating areas, one inside and one outside and heated. We split the pretzel appetizer, served with a traditional mustard sauce and a fondue sauce for dipping. The pretzel itself was large, warm, and very good, though a bit drier than I usually like. For my main course I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Served on a delicious 7 grain bread with russian dressing, and topped with delicious bacon and avocado, this was an overall delicious sandwich. The side of squash and zucchini were well-prepared, giving me a preview of the summer to come. My friend seemed very satisfied with his burger. Service was good throughout the evening with just a few minor mishaps (i.e. trying to take plate away while still eating) that did not detract at all from the meal. The ambiance was welcoming and happening for a Saturday night. I will definitely return and am excited to see such a great addition to Oceanside's restaurant scene! read more
