The service is slow and they aren't very customer oriented. I told the young lady who checked me out that it was my first time and asked what do the bagels come with? She seemed confused so I just got a breakfast bagel sandwich by itself. She didn't mention I could have made it a meal with a "twice baked" hash brown and coffee or juice for $2.99. They need to train the people here to be a bit more upbeat and helpful. I love trying different spots for breakfast, but I probably won't be back. I stopped by in the morning about 7am. They were extremely slow and while I stood and waited at the register with a sign that says "order here" I wasnt even acknowledged until about 10 minutes when a line formed behind me.I was told to move to the other register where you pay and then stood there for another several minutes until my order was taken. I ordered a bagel dog and a pumpkin muffin.I waited at least 15 minutes for my to go order that I seriously thought they forgot.When i got to work i pulled out the muffin which was upside down at the bottom of the bag so all of the icing was stuck to the bottom of the wrapper.How extremely annoying especially when they are pricey. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese online. When I got my bagel, there was very little cream cheese on it. I took it up to the counter to ask for more cream cheese. Somebody behind the counter loudly said "If she wants a new bagel I'll make it. Why did she bring it up here?" I explained that I didn't want a new bagel. I wanted more cream cheese. Luckily, James, who knows me, filled a container without fuss and gave me some cream cheese. It was very embarrassing to be berated like that by somebody who wouldn't even look at me or talk to me. I have also seen the manager and other staff, not Lisa or James, Twerking behind the counter where small children could see them. I have also noticed a deterioration of the building. There is mold around the vents, and the soda machine. The Open sign is broken. The paint outside is peeling and last week the AC didn't work for a whole week. In Houston it is already getting up into the 90's and very humid. I have been coming to this Einstein's every day almost for almost 5 years and regularly before that for as long as I can remember. I am very disappointed. First, I rarely come to Einstein's unless it's to buy a box of bagels for work. I made the decision to stop here for breakfast before work. I ordered the Ham & Swiss Bagel with one egg on a plain bagel. Now, the sign says that this is $4.99. The lady behind the counter explained that they no longer have a button for it, so she would have to enter it in differently. I did not know this would dramatically change the price. Now mind you, I also purchased a Coke. When I go to pay it wound up being $10 and change for my $4.99 bagel and soda. If you aren't going to offer something anymore for the price stated, then don't advertise it. I have attached a picture of the sign that is displaying the "untrue" price. I felt that the bagels were expensive. I felt that the service was not caring, except for the cashier who we paid to and maybe, I said maybe the order taker. I felt that the tables were dirty I felt that parking is a hassle, but hey it's Kirby I felt that they do, although have an interesting menu Here's what I know: --yes, it was expensive for freaking bagels --the garlic bagel was sure enough true enough for the taste --no onion bagels --strawberry cream cheese on the honey whole wheat was oh so cloud nine good, with the exception of a little toughness --they do not have a good diversity on their bagels, not too many different kinds --the pizza bagel taste good, but to my preference, not so much on garlic --the fruit cup is larger than the fruit bowl and I still got charged more money than what the menu listed. --the fruit in the fruit cup tasted nasty, and old. --no bagel dog at the time which when I went was two weekends ago =( --I asked for two other things, that I don't remember and they didn't have....which I know that doesn't really help you guys out, but I'm too lazy to backspace so just disregard this long statement, please. Yep....that's the deal...but they do have sandwiches too in bagels. I would like to return if the counter people were more nice and the fruit were more fresh, and the price of that wasn't off. As unlikely as it may sound, Einstein Bros serves excellent, underrated coffee. And the best part: the cup is bottomless, which means we can have ALL the refills! :D We tried the vanilla hazelnut and autumn roast coffees - both of which were delicious and smelled amazing. And of course, it goes perfectly with a freshly toasted bagel and cream cheese. The biggest downside for this location is the poor parking lot design. One of the worst I've seen in Houston. read more

Pretty solid bagels, probably the best that you can really find around the Houston area (food chain wise). My favorite thing to get is a fruity bagel (like cranberry or blueberry) with honey almond smear. It's absolutely fantastic! The food is pretty great if you're a bagel person in the morning and especially if you want to get a bagel sandwich. However, the reason why I give this location 3 stars is that it's typically very crowded during peak bagel hours a,k.a brunch/breakfast time, especially on Sundays. This means that the limited parking is completely packed and that the wait for a simple bagel is about 10-15 minutes; pretty ridiculous wait time for slapping some smear on a bagel and putting it in a toaster. If you're wanting a fairly quick, delicious breakfast then try going elsewhere or only visit here during the weekday mornings. read more

Whenever, I order in this restaurant, I am satisfied with the food I purchase. The coffee and bagels are great along with trying new items sometimes. On this particular occasion I ordered a Twice-baked hash brown similar to a muffin shape, on-the-go. In looking at the menu too abruptly, I really wanted the hash brown bagel. Being a foodie and wanting something for breakfast, this was my choice. The Twice-baked hash brown with cheese seemed like an interesting selection. But, it came squeezed together in a brown wrapper as though, I should eat it with a fork as opposed to being muffin shaped. It was very hot and the cheese was melted, but not held together, for lifting and biting. I asked for a fork while pondering what was happening inside the paper. I thought, "Is this what I actually ordered? As I tasted the potato, cheese, in the heated wrapped paper. I assumed okay, but still pondered. Even someone at the register seemed hurried. In the midst of COVID-19 and no sitting yet, I left dismayed with not being able to sit inside, but this had to be alright due to the world's health issues. I Just want to say, I understand adjustments during the pandemic, but I should have said, "Is this how this is made squeezed together and exchange the hash brown for the hash brown bagel." The other bagel I initially ordered was alright, as usual. With times like these, I want to make sure I understand restaurants new strains and complications, but be aware of kindly letting them know when something does not appear to be equivalent to what is seen and described on the menu. The bagels are great but I wanted to commend the people working there in this review. They are always warm and welcoming, but today especially impressed me. I came in for a few bagels, but one must have gotten left out of the bag. I was still in the parking lot when I saw a guy run out of the shop looking for someone, followed by a woman helping him look. To add to it, it was raining outside. I really wish I had gotten their names to recognize them specifically because they went above and beyond to make sure I got my bagel. I thought it was really nice that they made that effort to find me, especially while raining! To Einstein's management--please consider adding a spot to tip on the receipt print outs. Even before the above mentioned events happened, I asked the man at the register how I could tip (since it's 2021 and no one carries cash anymore) and unfortunately there wasn't a way. read more

Then when a man entered they looked up and asked me for my order. After I ordered the man ordered. The good and the bad: Good = our orders were prepared correctly and there was a large variety of bagels available at 10:00 am. Bad = worst costumer service I have ever encountered at an Einstein Bros. location. Staff needs to be trained to be friendly and courteous to customers. Staff act as if we are greatly inconveniencing them when customers ask a question or place an order. The set-up is confusing, as there are 2 cash registers and sometimes out order and pay at the left, sometimes you order and pay at the right, and sometimes you order and pay at either station. The set-up appears to be at the whim of staff, and no matter the set--up for the day, staff seems to take pleasure in making you feel embarrassed by telling you that you are in the wrong line. There are no signs to advise you as to where to order. On this visit, a woman was dragging full bags of trash around the restaurant. The floor was really wet near the entrance, with a warning sign. We never saw anyone attempt to mop up the wet floor in the hour that we spent ordering and eating. The woman behind the counter (standing idle) refused to take my order, directing me to the cashier who was assisting another customer. Why couldn't she take my order and begin prepping my sandwich while I pay the cashier? I just had to wait that much longer for my order while she stood idle. I will drive further to another place for breakfast that come here again. read more

Tried this place for my first time today. A coworker of mine insisted on buying me lunch, so I couldn't refuse the offer. I ordered the Nova Lox, and it was great! I asked for the bagel to be toasted, but it wasn't (reason for the 4 stars). The cashier was nice, and I got my meal pretty quickly. They have a huge variety of different sandwiches to try, so I'll be back to try others! read more

When I asked how I'd know when my food was ready the lady at the register said they'd call my name and I told her they didn't ask my name and she said ' they will find out ' after 10 minutes and asking agin I was told the order had been sitting on top of the counter for a while, as she rolled her eyes at me. Something happened to me when living in NYC... I became a bagel connoisseur. A REAL bagel is boiled briefly before baking. This is what gives it a crunchy, shiny exterior, and a dense, doughy interior. This process takes time.... Here's where what some refer to as a "fagel" comes in: A non-traditional bagel that is injected with steam while baking in order to get a similar product in less time. The result is a bagel with a crust not nearly as hard as an NY bagel and an interior far less doughy. Which one do you think einsteins pumps out? Yep, you guessed it. The fagel. BUT, when I am in need of a bagel and don't feel like driving to Ess-a-bagel on 21st and 1st Avenue, I come here! Fake or not, they are pretty darn good. My favorites are the cinammon raison and the everything with cream cheese. They also have wonderful blueberry muffins and great coffee. Why one star? I bring breakfast to work a few times a month. I'm not sure if this is a constant problem or I just have bad luck but at 8:15 AM on Fridays the service could not be worse. I have left with completely wrong orders, missing items, and a frown on my face one to many times. Saying "sorry" for making a customer wait 20 minutes for a "HATE TO WAIT bucket" is just not acceptable. I hope a manager reads this and makes some positive changes bc these fagels, although nothing like NYC's, are pretty darn good. P.S. an authentic bagel is made at The Hot Bagel Shop on shepherd... taste the difference for yourself!! read more

The food is good. The service at this location, however is horrendous. I stop here at least once a week on my way into work. Every single time I have had an exceptionally long wait for 1 single bagel and a cup of coffee. The staff is nice enough, but they are slow as molasses. Either they need more staff, or they just need to learn how to manage a crowd better. Expect to wait at least 15 mins for an order....today was the worse--I had to wait 20 mins for my simple order! I was livid! I hate to pass on these guys and find another place to spend my breakfast dollar, but I just may have to do that if they don't pick up the pace. read more

As someone who grew up on bagels, esp. from New York, I always have a soft spot for them. The search for a decent bagel here in Houston is in full force. I've had Einstein bagels before but never had the experience of walking into the shop. One day I was in the mood for an everything bagel and while driving down Kirby, decided to drop by and pick one up. First off the parking lot is small and was full when I got there which is never a great way to start off my experience, but to be fair it was a Saturday morning. Anytime I walk into a new restaurant or store I kind of scope it out first. Where do I order, where do I pay, is there seating, or how graphically designed is the menu. Is it easy to read and helpful or does it make me want to poke my eyes out and run. So I go up to the order area and here is where the rating starts to drop. I gave my order to the gentleman and really got a cold stare/response. Very unwelcoming. Look I realize you probably don't like the job you have, I get that...trust me, but at the same time you should be thankful to have one. It wasn't just this person but also at the other counter where I paid. In a place that seemed to have 10 people working right behind the counter I only wonder if maybe they could switch positions to have someone a little more friendly. I don't need or want someone to act like my new best friend but to show some emotion or acknowledgement would be nice. I've worked in customer service and half assing it works if you want it too...I didn't even get that. But enough about them how are the bagels? Not bad. I don't drool over them like I would back home but in a pinch they do the job. The secret to my continual consumption of these bagels is to have someone else go buy them for me. read more

I am still reeling over an incident at this location some weeks ago. Occasionally I will stop at this location as it is near my job, and I will pick up a bagel thin breakfast sandwich. It is usually pretty busy in the mornings, but sometimes I really hate stopping because I have had to wait at the counter several times for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. I have dealt with it until this particular time: I went in on my way to work, I waited in line for almost 10 min. When I finally get to the counter, the girls take off: one goes off to the back and the other heads in the opposite direction. I wait there for like 3 min and then some lady walks in the door that is apparently someone who comes in a lot. She starts talking about how late she is to work and needs her usual box; they totally bypass me (WTF?!?!?! I'm trying to get to work too) and get her all situated and taken care of!!! I was SO incredibly livid at this time, but it didn't seem to phase them because I seriously think noone there really gives a crap, freaking lazy people. Needless to say, I finally get tended to, grab my sandwich and left. I have not been back since and sincerely don't plan on it ever. It's a good thing I wasn't needing boxes of bagels for our office because I might've gotten to work empty handed waiting on them SO long. Thankfully, I found another Einstein much closer which I plan to visit; cross my fingers that visit goes well for me. read more

My family and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We weren't in a rush, but with kids it's hard to stay in a restaurant for long. The wait here was pretty ridiculous. There were 6 employees behind the counter but everything was very slow. Many customers were standing around waiting and all were complaining how long it took. The food was pretty standard given that it's a franchise, but the aspects of the preparation that the employees did control were not very well done - eg how much to toast, spreading of cream cheese. Simple tasks but they didn't do it well. Einsteins is generally pretty reliable but this location is not a good example. Also the bathrooms were dirty. read more

Lack of Einstein's at this location! We ordered 2 protein bagels with egg and cheese after repeating 3 times while enduring death looks from the cashier. Person making the food wanted us to hold her hand through it all asking us how many beads of pepper per bagel. What came out were raisin bagels perfectly toasted to chip your tooth on. Totally disgusted by the lack of professionalism this establishment displayed from its workers. I once would frequent this establishment because it was close to where I lived. After moving out of state for years and coming back I decided this morning (May 29th 2016 at 8:30 a.m.) that I would try my go to "Power Protein Bagel w/peanut butter". There were 2 young African American ladies cashiering. Upon ordering I was asked my name, which is Turquoise and was laughed at in my face by the cashier. She went on to ask, "is that really your name?" and I politely said yes. They both continued to smile and giggle about it. I'm sure they might have been in their early 20's and being that I'm 33 years of age I let them slide. I believe that this is a reflection of poor management skills and should be looked into. Customer service is a must and should be valued at all times when dealing with customers. I don't think that I will visit this location ever again being that I drove all the way from W. Lake Houston Pkwy to be laughed at. So if you can check your record sheets and see who's time stamped for their shift within that 8-9 o'clock time frame, please give them a lesson in common courtesy. Now, I'm wishing I had a receipt to see her names or at least paid attention to their name tags because I'm sure their names probably were interesting ones as well. read more
