They custom designed my engagement and wedding rings. Starting with pictures of things I like, making 3D mock up for me to try on, and then bringing in diamonds to try in that model. They stand by their work and every time I go in they take my jewelry from me and clean it. This is also a family owned small business from right here in Houston. Marco made what should have been an enjoyable, exciting experience into one that was surprisingly frustrating. We made it clear from the start what we wanted (a simple gold ring with an olive green sapphire for her and a matching ring and inlaid stone for me) and our budget range. Marco consistently responded with the wrong material, suggestions outside our price range, or some other frustration. At the bottom is a link to our text history, first from my partner's number and then mine (the experience was making her stressed and she wanted me to take over). I've annotated it for easy consumption to show how we were constantly fighting an uphill battle trying to get him to listen to our needs/wants only to be ignored. We tried to remain pleasant and understanding throughout but it became harder and harder as it became obvious he wasn't interested in listening to us. So we decided to not pursue our rings with him further. We found it hard to trust something so special and important to someone who can't follow simple requirements. Or someone who kept giving us options outside of our price range, and who now wants us to trust their judgement and not give any further estimates (even if we brought in our own stones). Or someone who simply seemed disinterested in what we had to say. I confronted him with our texts, explained how we felt, and asked for at least a part of our $500 deposit back. He refused, and when I started to go over our texts to show why we felt justified in asking for our money back, he said the texts "make him look stupid". Well here are the texts for everyone to see his own words, you can make the call yourself. Other gems from our last meeting include him claiming his time is worth $450/hour (to explain keeping the whole deposit) and a "funny" anecdote where he initially estimated $2,500 to repair a ring and ended up charging $12,000 (to justify why he can't give estimates). I have our meeting recorded (single party consent state) if anyone is interested. As a small business owner myself, dealing with shifting and unknown requirements, I understand it's hard to give a price only for something unexpected to pop up, but what I don't understand is how you can treat a customer with such inattention and disregard and still feel justified in keeping any amount of money. I would be filled with shame if I treated a customer this way and then refused to empathize with their experience. Marco strikes me as someone who is excellent to work with if your visions and budget align, but he is disinterested in what you have to say or think if they don't and isn't capable of seeing things from any point of view but his own. I took a vintage ring, I found in my late husband's car that he hadn't given to me yet, to another jeweler to have a stone placed in it. This was very emotional and sentimental for me as it will be my right-hand ring. The other jeweler did a good job setting the stone however mashed the detail and actually gave it back to me with the metal cut and jagged. I took the ring to Marco and in less than a week, the ring was repaired and looked as if nothing had ever happened. Not only was his work fantastic, he was so kind to my three young daughters giving them candy and each a rose. This is my new jeweler from now on. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Eklektic Jewelry! I met with Marco Sr. in hopes of turning my late mother's wedding ring into my future engagement ring. Marco was empathetic, meticulous, and so helpful. He made sure I was happy with the work during every step of the process, and helped me choose every detail of the ring. He took the time to meet with me as many times as I needed (in person or via text), and I always left after a glass of wine/tequila and a rose-- you just can't get service like that anymore! My man proposed! But my engagement ring was 3 sizes bigger than my finger. I have been to a place before this to get it resized but they made my ring oval and it still didn't fit! Oh the horror! My heart was broken. But Mr. Marco fixed it and mended my heart! I am new to Texas and was in need of a few items of jewelry to have repaired. I called to make an appointment and I must say, this is a very professional and considerate business. They worked with me for a convenient time to come in, and even confirmed my appointment time through my phone. Upon entering this establishment, I was welcomed with warmth and offered something to drink. The owner/designer sat with me patiently as he reviewed my items that I needed to get fixed. I wanted to get my grandma's ring resized (up 2.5 sizes) and reinforced, as the band was rather thin and I'm hard on jewelry. As it was my grandma's, I did my research to find who would take delicate care of it. Both Marco Jr. and Sr. were a delight. Marco Jr. conducted the intake process, showed me how to look through the magnifying glass jewelers typically use, showed me where there was damage, and what he could do about it.
