The Tallarin Saltado and Chaufa Pollo have that fire taste to it as everything is stir fried to perfection! El Aji Cocina Peruana is slowly becoming one of my go-to spots when I'm craving a quick bite to eat without breaking the bank (because DTLA prices can be outrageous!) during my lunch break. Today was my second time ordering the lomo saltado through DoorDash, and it gets the job done. The fries were kinda on the plain side and definitely could've been crispier, but I'm sure they softened a bit during the short ride over from the restaurant. That said, the seasoned meat and veggies bring so much flavor that it all comes together. Everything arrived hot and fresh, which is always a major plus for delivery. For the price, their lomo saltado honestly beats a lot of the competition nearby. I'm even considering dining in next time to check out the service and atmosphere. Was in downtown Los Angeles taking care of some business and I found out there was a Peruvian place right down the street and I'm an avid fan of Peruvian food! I looked up their menu over my phone and saw that a standard plate was $13, I went and ordered over the phone , I ordered four different dishes, and the price came out to almost double than what I calculated. The food was really good, but their prices on their online menu is completely different than when you actually buy the food. That's a bummer. read more

I have not been to this place in person, but I've ordered on delivery apps a few times and it's always pretty good! Tallerin saltado is soo good and was pleasantly surprised by how freaking delicious the chicha morada is. I've also had the lomo saltado but it felt a lot saltier maybe because of the fries? Everything on the menu looks delicious though and for sure I'll be ordering again in the future. read more

Slowest establishment to make Lomo Saltado ever. It was not a busy day, and it took over 30 min to receive one dish. The Lomo itself was decent. Nothing amazingly special. The green sauce is pretty flavorful and spicy, which was enjoyable. I've also posted a picture of their new menu prices. read more

I've eaten here twice and each time the food was amazing! I've only had their lomo saltado but it's some of the best I've had! Good Peruvian food places around my house are far and while they are worth the drive sometimes you want something quick and delicious! That's what I get at this location. They get four stars only because I feel they can serve a little more meat in their portions. Paying $11 for a plate, yes it's downtown LA but a little more won't kill you. FYI: Cash and Debit only. However when you use debit it's kind of like a withdrawal. If your total is $13.05 you will withdrawal $20 and they give you change back it's weird but hey that's what we get for not carrying cash. Downtown parking always sucks but surprisingly I always find parking right across the food court. read more

Kind of impossible to find from the street, El Aji Cocina Peruana is located upstairs in the 4th floor open-air food court. Starting with the things I liked: Lomo Saltado was outstanding: crispy fries, juicy perfectly-cooked chunks of beef. I've had this dish a dozen times, both in Peru and the Los Angeles. Rarely is the main star of the dish (the beef!) so spot-on delicious. Very tasty!! Chicha Morada was delicious. I dunno if this was from a mix or homemade, but it hit the spot. Too many places don't even offer it! Trouble: Papas a la Huancaina: weird thing #1 was the potatoes being quite warm, almost hot. Weird thing #2 was the sauce being *really* cheesey. Actually, that sounds good, but it doesn't work. The potatoes should be served cold, the sauce more runny with really just a hint of cheesy-ness. Weird thing #3 was the Kalamata olive on top. Wrong flavor. I'm cool with people reinventing dishes and doing generally whatever the hell they please with the food they cook.... if it makes it better. This did not work. On the fence: Quatro de pollo (1/4 chicken, roasted): my wife insisted it was too dry. Seemed fine to me. Toss-up. :P I would go back for the Lomo Saltado, and probably the chicken as well. read more

The food is great, the owner very nice, the only complaint I have is the lady that takes the orders on the phone, when i tell her that I'm paying credit card, i can hear her mumbling, yesterday ( friday) I asked her for the yellow sauce instead of the green one and she told me that that one goes with the pollo a la brasa (when I asked the owner before, he usually sends me that one without problem) only, btw, the week before we order pollo and we didn't get the yellow sauce either. The girl needs to learn to give better customer service. read more

Omg, I love love this place so much. I buy food here for our office staff and clinic staff and everyone loves the food. All our get togethers we order the food from here. The owner is amazing and always makes the food yummy, even when he has sold out of chicken, he will go out and buy more chicken just to cook for us. His service is by far the best, he goes all out for his patrons. Please try the rotisserie chicken with fries and salad, you will not regret it. Everything on the menu is good by the way. Sometimes delivery takes over 30-40 minutes, (my work is a block away), sometimes the person on the phone rushes and doesn't write down the right unit#, sometimes the delivery guy gets lost(probably because of the aforementioned), and sometimes they forget the drinks(again, afrmntnd), but who cares. The food is on point. The lomo saltado and the chaufa have been consistently good. If in the area, try them out, they make really good food. read more

For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. If I'm in the area and craving their chicken, I'd absolutely return--just with different expectations regarding the seating situation and service.
