    Lomo Saltado

This was my first time trying authentic lomo saltado and it was delicious! Mario's Peruvian & Seafood restaurant brings a very homey vibe, from the interior design to the excellent customer service. The dish is filled and definitely good for two people, unless you're really hungry or just a big fan of lomo saltado. There is a great balance in the amount of meat, fries and rice. The meat was very tender. The sauce was great, even if it was only the sauce and rice left. The dish was just full of flavor. Definitely worth it, highly recommend!

This was my second time trying Mario's - first time we picked it up and this time I dined in. The food is absolutely delicious and so flavorful. They do not mess around with their portion sizes! I got the lomo saltado and that could literally be split between three people. The meat was juicy and tender and the fries and onions and tomatoes were cooked very well. The rice was also well prepared. Even though I don't really drink soda, I had to get the traditional Peruvian Inca soda which pairs so nicely with the food. They also start you off with the fresh yummy bread and butter. The staff is very sweet and the service is really good. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. They have a parking lot that is shared with the other business in the strip mall. The place is popular and will get busy on Fridays and weekends especially. But worth the wait.

Always a great option for the best Peruvian food you can get. There's usually a wait but it's worth it!

TL;DR: Steak Lomo Saltado is excellent. Beef fried rice was so flavorful. Food is great, worth the wait. We have been here before but I never left a review. This place deserves a great review. We got here in a Sunday night at 7pm and they close at 8pm. Quite a few people ahead of us and all the tables were full and it seemed like many of them were still getting their food. Plan ahead to go well before they close. Of course we went with our favorite: Steak Lomo Saltado. Always sooooo good. Some reviewers did say that the steak pieces are tough and dry and I can see that. But we have never had that problem. The french fries, onions and steak all pan fried together was soft and juicy. With the side of rice it's a large plate of food. Excellent! We decided to try the Beef Fried Rice this time. Kind of an Asian style pan fried rice with the same steak pieces. Some green onion and eggs and the fact that it was moist and mixed with a juice made it surprisingly good. So surprised that this dish was so good. The reason why I said go well before they close is because when we and another three person group for seated, the waitress said that they don't have anymore steak. So anything but steak and shrimp dishes are available. All of us were so disappointed. The waitress said she will check one time and asked what we were going to order. Between the two tables, we're going to order two Steak Lomo Saltado and one beef fried rice. She came back and said they have just enough steak for those three dishes. Tragedy averted, dinner turned out great but if you are going and intend to or a steak dish, make sure you go well before they close. But overall this is still our favorite Peruvian spot.

This place has been on my to go list for awhile & glad I finally got the opportunity to try it out! WAIT/PARKING: Because it's such a popular spot, be prepared to wait... for a bit. I waited an hour just for single seating on a Saturday night. They get PACKED. It's a tiny plaza & a small restaurant. The parking lot is tough because it's small & limited spots shared with the other businesses in the same plaza. I'd recommend street parking & walking a little in the residential neighborhood. Like anywhere in LA be wary of all the parking signs to avoid a ticket. SERVICE: Great staff, it always amazes me how they can juggle so many tables & orders!! The lady that took my order was quick & efficient. Was about 10-15 min wait in between ordering & getting my food, which isn't bad on a Saturday night when the place is packed to the brim with large parties. The waitresses were friendly & accommodating! FOOD: Ordered the ceviche de pescado & lomo saltado ! Great size portions, I came starving but ended up with leftovers for the next day. Ceviche was nice & tart, & love how they stacked up on the red onions. I thought it was interesting that they added celery(?) - it was my first time having Peruvian ceviche with a decent amount of celery in it. Classic potato on the side though I do wish it was sweet potato instead! Lomo is a must try at Mario's. Great portion of meat & I liked how saucy it was. Again love the amount of onions I got too. I recommend drenching the lomo in the spicy green sauce for even more flavor. Overall I'd eat here again. Maybe just take out though because the wait was kinda nuts. But they can't help that they're just that popular!!

Came here for the first time and wow the mixto ceviche is so refreshing!! Also lomo saltado is so comforting to eat. This was my first time trying the noodles with chicken and I love the flavor. It's very light and filling. The portion here are huge! Def Sharable with family and friends. The service was great it felt like I was going into a family house.

Amazing warm bread with butter to start. The ceviche was refreshing, light, and fresh! The lomo saltado is definitely a classic staple to LA. The noodle were also really good especially with their green hot sauce. I will say the workers did not seem the most hospitable in that when we asked to be recommended the most popular dishes we were brushed off and they consistently told us that they would provide Togo boxes when ready while we were still eating but definitely worth visiting once!

NEW HIDDEN FEES! SCAM!! BEWARE!!!! Been coming here Forever. Never again. They have raised their prices so much and when you order to go they charge you a secret 3$fee on top of it and don't tell you. I said excuse me since when is it 30$ for one shrimp Saltado? She gave me The price and then I asked so where did the other charges come from? She then told me they charge a 3$ fee for using your "credit card" which is actually ILLEGAL. When you start running scams like this on your longtime customers or even any customer in general it is the beginning of the end for You. Disgusting and unethical behavior. 30$ for French fries with 4 pieces of shrimp. Evil

This has always been our go to Peruvian food since 2018! Its one of those hole in the wall places. Almost everything we'rentried here is very good but our most favorite is the Lomo Saltado. Whenever we are in downtown or anywhere close we always try to go and eat here. The staff here are really nice, very attentive and friendly. Be warn though, this place gets really busy especially in peak hours so be patient but I can assure you it's worth the wait!!

Always great food at Mario's. Haven't been back in years so I'm glad it's still the same that I remembered. The green sauce is what really makes it stand out imo. Parking can get a bit tricky so just be prepared for that. In the past the place would get so packed during lunch but when I went on Tuesday it wasn't nearly as packed. All in all still a solid choice for Peruvian.

Chicharron chicken and 2 lomo saltados
    Ada L.

People who complain about cleanliness or service must not be LA locals. This place is genuinely the best Peruvian you can get in LA. Don't expect fancy amenities; When going to Marios, you are truly only going for the food. Their chicharron chicken is the most juicy and crispy fried chicken I've ever had, and their Lomo Saltado is genuinely the best Ive ever tasted. Having been to so many Peruvian places in LA, I promise you this is the best. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the food has never disappointed. Portions are as big as ever by the way! Lomo could be split 2 ways for two full adult meals.

Hot take, certain Peruvian dishes like lomo saltado, pollo Ala brasa, bistec Ala pobre, or any comfort meals type dish made in US Peruvian restaurants especially in SoCal and specifically at Mario's is a tad better than the ones I've tried I Peru(says the guy who's only been to Peru once) Parking sucks it's LA, lots of people parking on red curbs willing to risk it for Mario's. Saw lots of people chowing down on Mario's take out in their car. Took about 20min to get through the line, I've seen much longer for dinner. I've been frequenting Mario's for 15+ years and it always hits the spot. Starting with their spicy Aji sauce over the bread(wish they had butter but honestly the green sauce totally stands alone. I went with the steak Lomo Saltado with fried egg(extra). The dish is has a unique and amazing blend of Asian and Latin flavors: filled with umami, sweet, spicy, and the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness from the tomatoes. The beef was nicely done with a great sear on the outside but still not over done and left amazingly tender. Fries had a nice crisp on the exterior and fluffy on the Interior. I asked for an over medium egg cuz who doesn't want more yolky umami? Bonus, the serving size is huge! come and share or order your own for leftovers the next day(tip: the flavor stays the same but texturally not the same) All in all an amazing meal at Mario's come get you some Peruvian food here asap! I need to go back to Peru if you've been lmk bout your go to joints in Lima Cusco or where ever!

Tallarin saltado de pollo (chicken), lomo saltado (beef), Inka Cola (yellow soda)
    Lita C.

We ordered the tallarin saltado de pollo and lomo saltado, and both came in generous portions. Coming from a Peruvian household, I've had my fair share of lomos, and this one was solid and flavorful. A pleasant surprise was the saltado de pollo. The chicken was cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. Pair both with ají verde (green sauce); it elevates the flavors. Parking is limited, so plan ahead. They did not have chicha morada, but they do carry Inca Kola, which is always a plus.

Did the business change their number?i am calling and i get an operator

I tried calling and received the same operator message. I know that the business is still open, so it might be the case that they disconnected the line or changed their number.

    Do they sell cuy?

    No, they do not.

Are they actually open?? I keep calling to order ahead and nobody answer?

Yes, they are open for pick up and delivery. If they don't answer, I suggest visiting INTI up the block. They are also great!

What are their COVID hours? I'm trying to calling but their line is always busy

Not sure if their hours, but what I do know since they are super busy with take out orders, you have to go there then place tour order and wait for the food. I tried calling but no answer, but my son on Mother's Day ordered when he got there but…

    Are they. Open?

Yes but take out only, you can only order when you get there, be prepared to wait for 1-2 hours for your food. We tried calling it In, but to no avail.

Are they open for take out?

They're closed due to covid. I keep driving by to check lol

Are they doing any takeout right now?? April 6th 2020

I don't think so. We've been calling and driving by. Seems closed.

Is this place still open for take out during this pandemic?

Does anyone know if they are open right now for takeout?

Yes they are open for takeout. Just ordered (Saturday 4/25)

Has anyone order food for take out during the last week/stay at home orders?

We ordered it on Mother's Day for take out only!

Are they still open during this stay at home order?

I drove by yesterday (Saturday) around 11:30am and it was closed... Not sure about the weekdays.

    Do they deliver?

    They don't deliver

    Do they cater?

Yes, best Peruvian food in LA.

Are they open during Labor Day?

    Don't really know 😎

Do they have any vegetarian dishes?

Yes but not many. You can make the tallarines saltados vegetarian (it's pasta)...the chaufa (fried rice) vegetarian. Some of the appetizers might be...I don't fully remember.

Did this joint move or are they remodeling?

Marios hasn't moved, still at the same place, they remodeled
