I love supporting local business and especially New bakery style treats that I haven't tried before. I decided to try the moist cake and I apologize for not knowing the name, but to me it reminds me of a tres leches but not as sweet which I prefer. The cake has a nice nutty flavor, and I love how the texture crumbles on my pallet. Very good dessert. I also tried the other baked item. I love the sweet fruit inside believe it's guava, but I could be wrong but now I'm hooked on trying new types of foods. The baked item is crumbly flaky fresh.

This place is an absolute gem. It's a small, cozy, beautifully authentic spot full of character, warmth, and soul. The cappuccino is outstanding--rich, perfectly balanced, and made with so much care. You can taste the quality in every sip. The pastries are fresh, delicious, and truly traditional, the kind that instantly comfort you and make you want to slow down and savor the moment. I also absolutely love the decoration--every detail is so well thought out, colorful, and charming. It truly adds to the Cuban vibe and makes the experience even more special. What really makes this place stand out are the owners. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can feel the love they put into everything. It's the kind of place you don't just visit once--you keep coming back because it feels like home. Authentic Cuban flavors, amazing coffee, beautiful décor, and wonderful people. Highly recommended

The ropa viaja was flavorful, portions were filling, tostones were crispy and based on this meal I would totally come back but my husband got the lechon Asado. It was very dry and lacked flavor. Okay Cuban Food in Pflugerville…read more Tropicana sets the standard for Cuban food in this town. I have not been to Havana on South Congress in years. Back in the day, Havana impressed as well. What about Chicho's? It won't thrill you. It won't kill you. * * * a) The menu at Chicho's is small. The menu at Tropicana is infinite. Chicho's is mostly a sandwich place. But they have some plates. Tropicana has everything. b) Servings at Chicho's are small. Small servings? At a Cuban restaurant? Yes - Miami has some Cuban restaurants with small servings too. But Cuban is where you often go when you are looking for some serious bellybusting. Havana Harry's is the model for ... your appetizer, your main course and your dessert are EACH as filling as a Thanksgiving Dinner. That is three Thanksgiving Dinners. The pork chop I got at Chicho's was cut thin. How thin was your pork chop, Samuel C? Funny you should ask, Yelp Reader. It was maybe a thickness of three on a delicatessen slicer. Probably closer to two. It was like eating a slice of ham out of an Oscar Mayer ham for little kids's lunch pack. It was nicely sauteed and had a sweet sauce. (Shades of the Oscar Mayer ham again). I ate my ration. There was an ice cream scoop's worth of congris. It was first rate congris ... the best thing on the plate. I was sad when my ice cream scoop's worth was gone. There were four maduros which counts as a legal but unimpressive serving. They were standard. There was a miniscoop of salad - but you know the salad you get as a side garnish in Mexican and Cuban restaurants. You don't eat it and it is no loss. * * * The other downside was the strawberry juice drink con leche. It was a standard industrialized strawberry pulp pack for drinks Which is par for the course when you order these things. Either something was funny with the strawberry pulp or something was wrong with the milk. 85 percent of the sips were okay. 15 percent were - wait a minute - something is wrong. The wrongness was inconsistent enough that I did not want to complain to management. But the more I reflect on it - the more I am sure I would not order another juice drink for a beverage. * * * Overall, my basic dishes were good enough that I could see eating there again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But Pflugerville is full of amazing places ... And there is some great Yelp reviewing to be done in that town. And if I am hungering for Cuban ... there is always Tropicana. * * * Actually ... If I am hungering for Cuban ... There is always Miami. Eat at the best Cuban places in Miami And you will be so happy you will never want to eat again. Plus you will be so full it will be physically impossible for you to eat again. Ever. * * * No Cuban restaurant in Austin takes you to that extreme of happiness. But Tropicana does a good job of getting you 2/3 of the way there.

I came back and waited about a minutes before I was acknowledged, I was sat and the waitress was attentive. I wanted to try the arepita appetizer which is normally served with shredded beef/pork or chicken on the side- to get a side of plantains instead of meat, it was going to add 3$ to the 14$ appetizer so I just opted to omit the meat all together and still had to pay the $14 ...which I don't feel is appropriate- people always wanna add money to sub a veggie for meat but never reduce the price when just removing the meat all together. Anyways, Ordered my food which was out promptly, the veggie bowl was delicious as always and the arepita appetizer (no meat) was good- reminded me of a fried potatoe cake, I used the arepitas as a vessel for my veggie bowl ! I brought the remainder of my bowl home where I bit into something very hard , once pulling it out of my mouth I discovered some beef snuck it's way into my dish- disappointing forsure but it is the first time out of about 10 times this has happened here. Prices have gone up over the last few years my veggie bowl was 18$.

We celebrated my dear friend Christina's birthday here, and everything was on point from start to finish. Let's talk food first, because whew. The Verdes--three chicken enchiladas smothered in green tomatillo sauce, topped with queso fresco and fresh cilantro--were flavorful, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Served with Spanish rice and pinto beans, and every bite showed care and consistency. The Red Snapper Tacos were fresh, light, and delicious. Three generous tacos with pickled slaw and chipotle ranch, paired with refried pinto beans and Spanish rice. You could taste the freshness, and nothing was overpowered or heavy--just done right. The Churrasco Típico? A full plate of joy. A 10-oz top sirloin cooked beautifully, Spanish rice, black bean soup, fried plantain, yuca, and chimichurri sauce that tied it all together. Hearty, flavorful, and satisfying without being overwhelming. And the birthday girl was treated to a complimentary slice of flan--creamy, Spanish-style custard with vanilla and egg. I've had flan before, but this one? Top-tier. Smooth, rich, not too sweet... absolutely perfect. Beyond the food, the service was excellent--our server and the bartenders were attentive, friendly, and clearly knew what they were doing. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and yes--the bathrooms passed the test (and that matters). Even better, Christina brought her daughter Gracie, and the baby enjoyed herself too--always a win. Great food, great service, clean space, joyful atmosphere. This was a night well spent, and we'll absolutely be back.
