Super cute spot and delicious food ! The tacos and enchiladas were very good. Would definitely come back

We tried El Antojo Poblano because a friendly Yelp!er suggested it along with Buendia Cafe, La Chaiteria, and Del Cielo Tamales. We work and don't have time or budget for very expensive leisure breakfast/lunch places. But we were intrigued by El Antojo Poblano: it's close to where we live, has stellar reviews, and serves southern Mexican dishes rarely seen in American restaurants. We really wanted to like the place. And we didn't exactly dislike it. But $46.28 later for two entrees and no drinks (including a mystery 50 cent "service charge"), I'm not sure we'll be back. The decor is nice and the bespoke dishware and basketry couldn't be cuter. But the place is already clattery loud. And that was made worse by a nice lady on a bad PA doing her best rendition of Mexican (I think) songs. Bottom line: this wasn't the place for an intimate conversation. For all the diners at 6pm-ish on a Friday, there were only two people working as servers. And the young woman who waited on us seemed to be doing 90 percent of the work. The net result was a 15 minute wait for our check after we were well ready to go. Which is never a fun way to end a meal. read more

Great tacos ahogades and enchiladas suizas! First visit and I'm hooked - had the coco flan for dessert and it was a perfect ending to the meal. Will definitely return to try out other appetizers and dishes. The seating is comfortable and everything was spotless. I've been a fan of El Antojo Poblano since they started as a food truck. Analy and her family are amazing people- so kind, hardworking and passionate. When I first met here, she told me her dream was to have a brick and mortar restaurant and she achieved it! The food truck was super charming with lovely tables and flowers on them, and the restaurant is just as cute. The food is traditional to her home of Puebla, Mexico. The mole is fantastic and made authentically. The flautas are another favorite of mine and the gorditas too. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Don't expect Sonoran style Mexican here. This is a different style and so delicious. A must try. read more

Heavenly Tacos. I have been here minimum 50 times. I come back every time for the unbelievably tasty tacos. My favorite are the chicken tinga, carne asada, adobada and chicharron. These are some of the best tacos you'll ever taste, no matter where you've been. The price is unbeatable, the staff is always friendly, the interior of the restaurant creates a happy environment and the food comes out quick. Honorable mention to the owners who recognize people and frequent tables to make sure everything is good. This is the best Mexican/Taco restaurant in the world. read more

Last night I had dinner at El Antojo Poblano. This restaurant was obviously planned for the long term Mexican plates bearing the name, El Antojo Poblano. On perusing the menu, the Enchiladas Suizas immediately caught my eye. They are a favorite since I first enjoyed them at the Hotel Playa Mazatlan in 1968. Well, I ordered the Enchiladas Suiza and they were the absolute best I have had since 1968. I will be returning to this W. St Mary's Rd restaurant again soon and highly recommend that you give their wonderful non-Sonoran Mexican food a try. read more

Always on the lookout for good mole and doing errands nearby, husband and I stopped in 4:30 or 5 in the afternoon. Our waiter was the grandson of the lady who makes the mole and freeze dries it in I think he said Puebla, Mexico. Absolutely distinctively delicious! Hubby had a chimichanga smothered in salsa verde that he enjoyed also! Beautifully decorated w bright colors of Mexico and a large foto of Popocatépetl. Owners have applied for liquor license so cold cerveza and margaritas to enjoy with your meal are coming. We will be back! read more

Well I had to go back and try something different the Enchiladas so delicious & the green salsa was on point very tasty with a small kick. 2nd time I complimented my meal con una Agua Fresca ( Jamaica) very consisted with taste they must be using the natural hibiscus and making it there! I had to try Taco de chicharrón, I'm sorry but I was a bit disappointed the texture was too rubbery and I couldn't say much for the salsa but it was ok! I definitely took in the decor, loved the colors and authenticity of the pictures. One thing I might request is maybe some help with the service. Overall I will definitely go back and try something different. read more

I got the mole enchiladas, my wife the chili relleno combo. The salsa with the opening chips was delicious, just the right heat and cilantro flavor. The poblano mole, their signature dish, was tasty, spicy and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon and a smoky finish. My wife noted that the relleno had a nice egg batter and cheesy without being at all greasy. We had the chocolate flan for dessert. An interesting confection of moist chocolate cake topped with an ample layer of vanilla flan! Yum We will be back, as this could become our new favorite! read more

We had never been or heard of this place before! We stopped in and were greeted by friendly staff. They had the best cafe de la olla that I've ever tasted. The colors inside the restaurant were beautiful and made me feel like I was back in Mexico with the decor and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the Chilaquiles divorciados which includes green and red sauce with a side of beans and potatoes and I got mine with over medium eggs. Everything was so flavorful. Including the salsa and chips. Because of the plate size being small, everything was brought out separately. Which then i just put everything on to one plate. Other than that, everything was definitely flavorful and I will be coming back for more! read more

I'm a sucker for a great mole dish and this place delivered with the Enmoladas de Pollo! My fiancé enjoyed the Cemita, a pretty unique and tasty sandwich! The best mole I have ever had. Was not crowded so service was good. Clean. Easy parking.

My wife and I visited today at about 2 pm for a late lunch I ordered Chicken Flautas plate and she ordered the Enchiladas Suizas plate with beef and green sauce, the food was excellent full of flavor. Service was great very polite, knowledgeable and hospitable as our server even brought us a sample of molé sauce to try which we will order on our next visit. The restaurant is very clean and has great seating along with a great decor. read more

I was driving through town and stopper here because of the reviews. It did not disappoint! The menu had numerous items that strayed from general Mexican menus in most places. And I tried one of them. It was so good, I had the Huaraches with pollo asada and it was absolutely delicious, others had the Tacos Ahogados also delicious. I will definitely return and try another dish. The only thing that kept this restaurant from being rated a negative 1 was the server, so I give this place a 0. Our server was independently operating the entire front of the restaurant...so props to her for keeping it professional and not being overwhelmed with the influx of the lunch rush. The chips were okay and that pico de gallo must've been mixed in a pool because it was watered down and not even hot. When my wife received her Tacos Ahogados it was served in a bowl being drowned in green sauce and lettuce. We were about to perform CPR on those tacos if she hadn't saved them from that tiny green pool. I ordered the Chile Poblano Relleno and sad to say my meal suffered the same consequences as my wife's Tacos. They got my order wrong but fixed it immediately...kudos to that, my Relleno was drowning in a bland canned tomato sauce, batter was okay, cheese inside Poblano was uncooked and chewy, confused to why the refried beans are prepared in a separate bowl and not served on the same plate. I regret saving my appetite all day for this meal and should've settled for someplace else, save your money and skip this place. Sad to say if the food doesn't change this restaurant will be drowning out as well. read more

Went for weekday lunch. At our table 2 had the green enchiladas...sauce was too tart. I had the pork in green chili sauce. Little plate had about 4 hunks of pork with almost half fat n gristle. Street tacos incredibly delicious. They offer different types of meat options that I have not seen before like chicken tinga and adobada (my favorite). The servers are kind and attentive. What a great find! My family stopped in for lunch before a U of A basketball game. We ordered as much as we possibly could, since it all sounded so good. Literally everything was good, but the standouts were the cemita sandwich (which they have won awards for) and the chalupas poblanas, which are half red sauce, half green sauce - the green sauce in particular was out of this world. The tacos ahogados were also great, and I think they were in that same green sauce. Honestly the only dish that didn't blow me away was their signature chicken mole dish. It was good, but not as good as everything else. Regardless, if I find myself in Tucson again, I'll be back! read more
