We just were looking for any place open at 8 pm and ran into El Asadero. Well I am extremely thankful we did. The owner was very friendly and took pride in explaining the quality he expects from the meat he serves. He serves USDA organic meat. If he doesn't have what he is looking for he won't cook it for his customers. The amount of meat he puts in the tacos is generous and the taste was great! We tried pastor, chicken, tongue and beef. All delicious. The salsas were also a notch above. We ran into this place but it will now be our go to place :) read more

Made a pit stop here, we were really hungry. I got a plate that came with rice and beans... I was excited to put a spooonful of rice in my mouth, gross, the rice was OLD, as if they pulled it out of a plastic Tupperware and heated it in the microwave...... also, the food was very greasy, and tasted very stale. My friend and I were on the search for some birria tacos and popped in here. We've both tried it once before and remembered it being good! This time did not disappoint either! When I think of having a "Taco Man" come, this is the first place I'm think of! They've catered a few of our family parties and I absolutely LOVE them!! The meats are perfectly cooked and never dried out. They have all the fixings to your hearts desire. The big winner is the QUESADILLA! I love love loveeee that this is an option. We just got 2 carne asada burritos, INSANELY good! Like other reviews mention, the carne asada is SO juicy and flavorful - honestly the best carne asada I've ever had. The burrito was huge, and did not take away from the quality. Wonderful quality tortilla, beans, rice, and all fillings so fresh and hot and tasty. I am obsessed with burritos, and this is one of the best ones I've ever had after living in LA, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura. We will be back, and bring all our friends and family! Thank you! I've been looking for really good pastor for sometime and so happy I finally tried this place. We got four different kinds of meat (pastor, carne asada, cabeza, chorizo, and carnitas) and they were all delicious. Al pastor and beef Barbacoa was tender, juicy, and tasty! Definitely one of the best al pastors on the avenue! The owner said that for the past 18 years he's bought entire organic cows and pigs and butchers them himself for all his meat. It was Christmas Eve afternoon and I was craving tacos. I started out from Main St. with visions of crispy beef tacos from Johnny's in my head. When I passed and they were closed I kept walking. I was on a mission and was going to walk the entire Avenue if necessary. The first place open was Asadero. It is a modest interior. With the doors wide open it was drafty and felt like a mini barn. I ordered asada and pastor tacos. I hadn't read any reviews so didn't know that pastor is their specialty. I actually enjoyed the asada more than the pastor. But I'm giving a one-star deduction for the salsa. If that wasn't Herdez salsa verde, it was a spot-on version. I expect something homemade from a taco joint. Maybe they were out of fresh salsa. The gentleman who prepared my food was friendly. It's just that salsa that left me with a conflicted taste in my mouth. read more

Was looking for a place on the Avenue. This wasn't it, but since I was too hungry already I stopped at this Mexican food place in a festively painted pre-fab building. The menu is muy typico Mexican fare including al pastor. Definitely a meat eaters spot as the name would suggest. We were party of 5 - two of us vegan. I ordered a veggie burrito off menu and they seemed puzzled at first but got it. My kids each had burritos - a Californian & Carnitas. They were good but not amazing. My son said all the Carnitas were at the bottom of burrito not evenly distributed. The "jamaica and Tamarindo" were just not! More accurately should've said "drink" like Tampico. It was like sno-cone syrup straight up. Anyway to sum up, the vibe was OK, the owners nice, but overall .... meh. read more

Came in today for a beer, a sope de asada, taco de lengua and taco al pastor. Came in and it was pretty cold inside because the doors were open so i closed one. Very clean and cool mexican decor inside. There was plenty of parking right in front. Greeted by the guy behind the counter who was very friendly and cracking jokes in spanish. I placed my order with him and he told me to pay at the end. Not even 5 minutes later my food came out. It was good tacos and sope, not the best, but perty good. The lengua didn't have much flavor so i added salt, lemon and the green salsa which helped. The red salsa was better tasting, more authentic and not very spicy. The al pastor had a bit more flavor. The sope was good, but beans were not refried. You could tell they had barely made it though. Asada meat wasn't that juicy or flavorful either but the salsa helped. They have licuados inside and aguas frescas which i might try next time! read more
