If your walking by fast and your mask is pulled up too high grazing your eyeballs, pull that thing down(but keep it on)! Because you might walk right past this gem nestled on Crown Heights bustling Franklin Ave. It's super tiny, they only allow you to step in quickly to place your order and then once done they will bring it out to you. I wish I would've got the young lady's name who was working at the time, she was very helpful. After pacing Franklin Ave ravenously, we settled on grabbing a quick taco while waiting for a table at another not to be mentioned taco spot up the block. It was SO good that we almost forfeited our table to stand outside of El Barrio and crunch on crispy tacos all night. Now if you know tacos you also know that crispy tacos are extremely hard to find! It's more of a Tex-Mex thing and not many traditional restaurants carry it. In fact we would've done so but by the time that we went back to grab more tacos this place was closing. Surprised at the low-ish overall rating here--El Barrio has a huge menu of burritos and tacos for really good prices ($7-8 for a huge burrito plus chips/salsa or a (small) salad), and everything I've had here has been really tasty and noticeably fresh. I'm always suspicious about the seafood that this type of place might use, but the shrimp are unusually firm and fresh, unlike a lot of places where they seem to have just come out of the deep freezer. My go-to, however, is the blackened chicken, has a perfect amount of spice and jalapenos. Both the rice and black beans here are also above average in terms of flavor. Service is pretty quick (not as fast as Chipotle, but personally I find that somewhat reassuring), though the folks behind the counter were not particularly helpful the first time I walked in and was confronted with their gigantic menu. Basically no seating, except for the benches where you can wait for your order. Open pretty late. Great takeout spot! read more

I ordered the vegan impossible burrito. The impossible meat didn't taste like impossible meat so I'm not sure what it was. Overall it tasted like an expensive Taco Bell and I'm upset that I spent 16 dollars on that burrito. 2 stars only because it was delivered so quickly. read more

New to the neighborhood (and city) and El Barrio Burritos has been my go to restaurant. The prices are reasonable, Steven (the owner) very attentive to providing a great service, and the food is really good and filling. And if you're vegan/vegetarian, (like myself) there's a few lunch, dinner, and desert options. Unlike many restaurants that have a single vegan option. The available options at El Barrio Burritos is very much appreciated. They even have breakfast burritos. The current Yelp rating is way to low and undeserving. Recently moved to NY from CA and I've been on a serious hunt for a solid burrito here. I live in Crown Heights and have passed by this spot a couple times and was excited to try it. We ordered a veggie fajita burrito and grilled chicken bay burrito. The veggie burrito was good and had some flavor -- I'd potentially get it again. The chicken burrito, however, was lackluster. I ordered from El Barrio on Grubhub to try out something new in quarantine... so glad I did! My girlfriend and I shared the Guacamole on a recommendation, and it lived up to the hype. Usually delivered gauc leaves something to be desired, but this tasted fresh out of the mortar. My girlfriend loved her impossible burrito, (shes a new vegan and it satisfied her craving for her typical beef burrito). I got the surf n turf burrito bowl which was incredibly filling- the shrimp was fresh and the beef was perfectly cooked. For dessert we split the chocolate fudge cake, but we wish we had gotten two!! Ive ordered from them a few times. A fantastic burrito and their cheese sauce is OUT OF BOUNDS. This week I was not craving a burrito I was craving an El Barrio Burrito. It hits that TexMex/fast food burrito craving but with real ingredients. The pulled chicken is meaty and juicy while the refried beans have the perfect consistency to hold everything together. I always order an extra refried beans and tortilla for breakfast the next day. Also very transparent about additional ways to support the staff. read more

YES I SWEAR BY THIS PLACE. The staff is amazing! I got my burrito the other day and there was a cute little note on the napkin. All of the staff here deserve a raise, but especially the cute girl at the counter. She's so accommodating, patient, and kind, I can't recommend enough that you go there on a day she works. Despite being skeptical at first, I loved this place! I was in the neighborhood visiting family, and we all decided to go for a walk and order take out from whatever looked good. I heard someone mention the word burrito and I jumped on Yelp to see what was recommended. The photos don't lie, their food is delicious. I had the Cajun Chicken Burrito (minus the jalapenos) with black beans and it was phenomenal. My first bite was mostly all sauce and seemed disappointing, but a couple more bites and my attitude quickly changed. Even though their was enough food for two days, I scarfed the whole thing down. The healthiest portions of guac - ever. I ordered both the naked Cajun burrito and the steak quesa. The naked burrito is my fav and will always be my go to, every single time no matter.
