El pastor & el camerones tacos
    Taylor M.

I'm honestly shocked this place doesn't have a higher overall rating. We've been coming to El Camino for years now and it's one of the first places we take friends and family who come from out of town to visit. The food is such a great value for what you're getting and the drinks are reasonable, too. The food consistently delivers - the el lote absolutely knocks it out of the park every time (and I'd argue it's one of the things that has us going back time and time again over other taco joints in the area). The place has a really cool atmosphere inside as well as a cute outdoor patio area. The staff is always friendly but service is a bit slower. Like so many other restaurants right now, they're quite understaffed. Our last few visits there was only one waitress on the floor and one person back in the kitchen. Please be kind to your servers, guys! They're doing the best they can. I promise the food is worth the wait!

We were looking for a new restaurant to try In these Covid times that offered outside dining and what we viewed as good safety measures in these trying times of the virus. El Camino fit the bill as it is conveniently located on Orchard Lake Rd in Keego Harbor with a terrace area for outside dining and decent separation between the tables. The staff all wear masks and gloves where the food is served using plastic cups and disposable plates which is taking safety to a level I had not seen at other sit down restaurants. Relative to the food, for starters we had the chips and salsa which were fresh made. For entrees, I had the beef bowl which was comprised of rice, black beans, shredded cheese, lettuce, Pico and of course the beef. This entree was a bit pedestrian in taste for me and was just OK in my opinion. My wife had the Chicken Asada Tacos that came on corn tortillas with marinated pulled chicken, avocado, Pico, cotisa cheese and salsa verde. Overall she was very pleased with the ingredients and flavor of the taco's and gave it high marks. Lastly we washed the food down with the house margaritas where they were quite generous with the Respoda tequila which fits my definition of a good margarita (big thumbs up!). Relatve to the restaurant environment, it is a bit on the rustic side where the attention is clearly more on the food versus the decor. The service was super friendly and prompt with good follow-up during the course of the meal. Overall I give this establishment 3.5 stars as I think they are somewhere in between OK and good and it largely depends on what you order. I spend a month each year in Puerto Vallarta and like to eat in Mexico Village in Detroit where the bar is set high for what I would call good/authentic Mexican. Having said all that, the selection of top end Mexican restaurants in the greater West Bloomfield is very limited and if you are not willing to travel far than this is a great dining option for this area.

    Inside is ok.

Another place is over the top with their prices. Little snotty tacos that they charge almost five bucks for each. Would pay $3.75 maybe but these prices are getting a little carried away. Yeah the al pastor Taco sounds good (slow roasted pork, fresh avocado mousse, pineapple, pickled onion cilantro and cotija cheese) they give you two shells to compensate for the small amount of ingredients and meat, just not worth it. The menu is really small and what you do get the choices are expensive. And chips aren't complimentary you pay six bucks for those but the sauces they came with were pretty decent. The waitress was nothing to write home about either, they seem pretty dazed and confused, never came back to asked how the food was and then when the water ran dry never refilled the glasses. When the $32 bill came we put a $50 down and she/they asked us if we needed change. I was like yeah! Whatever this place is off the list, l won't be back. You might like the expensive prices and over the top Mexican fake interior, but I'll pass.

I came here about three weeks ago and once my friend and I sat down, he immediately wanted to leave. He said he smelled dirty water and it freaked him out, although I smelt nothing. Anyways, we left. We decided to give it another try last week. We ordered beers, but their cocktail menu was amazing and I would definitely go back just for drinks. Now to the food.... Chips and salsa aren't complimentary. We saw everyone with them so when we asked for some before our meals, we weren't informed they were $6. The chips come with three salsas - a mild (very fruity and sweet, I think mangos and pineapples were involved in that and I didn't like it), a salsa verde, and a hot (which would be like a mild to me but didn't have much flavor). The tacos were good and fairly priced. Although at other Mexican restaurants, tacos are maybe a dollar cheaper each, but nonetheless, they were good and pretty filling. Two filled me up. The elote bowl was amazing but not $7 amazing. I would have gotten just elote for $5 instead. But next time. My friend said his chicken burrito was ok but wouldn't get it again. He said it was lacking a flavor. However, it came with an avocado and corn guacamole that was amazing. I would totally just have that dip with chips. Our server was nice. The dress code is super casual and none of the servers or hostesses were dressed up for work, some in yoga pants, and others in jeans. Overall, it was meh. But the chips and salsa not being complimentary makes me not want to go back. Oh, and for some reason, according to Yelp, they have a 44% on their health score (which always concerns me LOL).

The food and drinks are delicious! We love El Camino! The Elote bowl, the churros, quesadillas, margaritas and guacamole are our favorites! We have had every kind of quesadilla!! Even the chips are delicious. Everything is full of flavor and cooked to perfection!! One week we ate here three times! The churros come with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Is there such a thing as craft Mexican food because I feel like there's a bunch fantastic options now in the most random of places. This cute little spot is the newest one I'm trying and it's fantastic. From the moment you open the luchidor decorated door, your eyes are feasting on a mishmash of knickknacks (that was fun to say). Need a velvet Elvis painting? Check. A custom bicycle with a gold chain on the wall? Check. A giant Buffalo head, a row of skateboards, and crazy fancy decorated toilets? Check, check, check. Now on to the food. We started with the chips and salsa sample. The chips were very obvious homemade and they we're amazing. Crisp, still a little oily, and matched perfectly with the salsa. Tip: mix the hot and sweet salsa together, it really is the perfectly balanaced creation. The tacos were in between $3-$4 each and you have to order at least 2. Folded into the traditional tortillas, my veggie tacos were surprisingly flavorful and delicious. Granted, anyone who has ever read any of my previous reviews knows that I am terribly biased in favor for anything that has cilantro. I also split a cheese quesadilla, which was good but nothing special. I would have loved to try the elote, but just didn't want to eat corn off the cob in front of people, but believe me I was eyeing it pretty hard. Our server was so nice and attentive. Really enjoyed my visit. Want to come back and try the tequila flight and some other tacos. I would recommend this spot.

I've been coming here since 2020 and was so excited to finally bring my husband in only to find that a burrito I had specially ordered (it was unheard of here at the time) in 2020 now being listed as their special of the day. I was bragging to my husband about how good the burrito was and how it wouldn't be on the menu when we went in so he'd have to special order it, then the second we walked in it was on their specials board. What a sweet moment. He said the burrito was INCREDIBLE. I ordered the tacos and couldn't shut up, they were so dang good, pricey but good.

Checked out a new to me place, tucked away in a small strip mall. I had been by it many tiimes and wanted to stop in; I mean who doesn't get excited by a sign that says tacos in the window? Started out with the first margarita that caught my eye, which was a mango flavored one. It was absolutely delicious! Then I noticed there was a margarita flight, which I definitely needed to try. It was delivered on a small skate board for an added cute appearance. I ordered the elote bowl as an appetizer. It was absolutely fantastic with none of the mess of eating it on the cob! I also got the carne asada tacos which were also very delicious. It was pretty busy for a small place and I think the waitstaff was spread a little thin but they were attentive enough. I would definitely try this place out. I can't wait to be back for those margaritas!

Aside from the main entree's they also offer a selection of Tapas and salad selections For my first meal here I got their custom blend cheese burger that had caramelized onions, house made pickles, lettuce, tomato and a house sauce with fries. The burger was very tasty cooked to perfection with a medium doneness (no over cooking here unless you ask for it) where the sauce and pickles gave it a unique flavor profile that I liked. Fries were crunchy and nicely done as well. For my drink I ordered a house Margarita from their tequila inspired craft cocktail menu. The Margarita was very smooth and quite tasty and very reasonably priced at $10. MY only gripe with the drink is it was made with Reposadao tequila where my personal tastes trend towards a brighter Margarita and Blanco tequila. Having said that I could drink this Margarita all day long! Relative to staff and facility, the restaurant is definately on the rustic side where it could probably use an update on the ceramic floors and tables/chairs. It's not bad but it would add greater appeal if they invested a little more money on the interior in my opinion. Staff was super friendly and I enjoyed my conversation with my waitress who also served as the bartender. Overall the uniqueness of this menu and how good the taco menu looked will definately bring me back in the near future as I need to give those guys a try as well. It's one space divided into 2 restaurants, Goomah, the Italian restaurant, and Live Bait, a seafood restaurant. We were given menus for both, though. We ordered a margherita pizza and added mushrooms to it and an antipasto salad. Both were delicious! The salami on the salad was shredded and fried, almost like meat croutons. They used thin slices of Parmesan cheese, and there were red peppers and possibly pimentos, as well as green olives. I hate olives, but my sister ate them. She said there were more olives than she usually sees in salad. The pizza had a thin but nicely crispy crust. All of the toppings were evenly placed on the pizza. Our server, Emily, was very friendly and efficient. There were only a few filled tables, so she took a little time to chat with us, which was nice. Our only real criticism was that, judging by the decor, they don't know what they want to be. There's a collection of rolling pins on one wall, a bank of t.v. sets on another wall as well as at the bar, what looks like a climbing wall (but I'm sure it's not) on another wall, the half walls have designs that look like graffiti, and the restaurant's name is in lights on the ceiling. All of this while Frank Sinatra and other Italian music plays in the background. But, restaurants are mainly about food, and theirs is very good. I am sure that we will be back!
