I've been coming to El Camino Tires in Stockton for over 5 years and always trusted them. The original guys were honest and treated me with respect, which is why this was my go-to spot. Unfortunately, there's a new employee now, and my last visit was completely different. I was sold an air filter that did NOT need to be replaced. I have experience around car shops, so I know better--I was just exhausted and didn't catch it in the moment. This felt dishonest and like I was taken advantage of. As a single mom, that's extremely upsetting. It's not about the money--it's the principle. I know some shops operate like this, but businesses that treat customers this way won't flourish. I had a $99 oil change done at El Camino tire shop on a Saturday for my BMW. However, the shop forgot to tighten the screws, and by Monday, all the oil had leaked out. If it was possible to give them -1 stars, I'll do it. I went to get two brand new tires without any scratches on my rims and when I got my tires back, my rims were all scratched up. I talked to Abel and he took responsibility of scratching the rims up and said that they were going to fix it. The day after that he called me and blamed ME for scratching up the rims and bringing them already scratched, yet he had already took responsibility of scratching them up. That is so unprofessional and disappointing, I DO NOT recommend anyone going to this place. They are unprofessional, irresponsible, and cannot do their job right. Came here (from manteca by the way) a month ago for an alignment. Was told i also needed to replace a few parts (for $550). I ended up dropping the car off, only for them to tell me 7 hours later that they couldn't take out a few BOLTS therefore couldn't fix the car at all. They looked at my car a month ago and i had not driven it AT ALL prior to me taking it recently. So you mean to tell me you couldn't have told me that when you first looked at the car? I ended up taking my car to another shop in my city and they told me that el camino was 1. not only trying to give me the cheapest parts, but 2. they were the wrong parts. Horrible service. needed my rotors resurfaced for my car, ended up taking 3 and half hours to do it. First time they resurfaced it, did a horrible job, rotors were cut uneven and had multiple rough patches. Had to get them redone, 2nd time, manager and possible owner of the shop decided to be rude and argue that the rotors were warped and some other excuses. Never coming back here again. Can tell they dont even know what the hell they are doing. Trash. read more

This was my 1st time at this store as i get my oil changes at the one on Wilson Way. There was a small wait which is no big deal. As soon as I get home & off my car I notice oil on the outside of my car. So I lift the hood & there is spilt oil under my hood as well. Very sloppy job, I was mad that there was oil on my paint. They should of cleaned up what was spilt. The oil filter had a puddle of loose oil sitting next to it as well. Will never go back there! read more

Thought I'd try this place for service. Arrived just after 3PM...and was told there were a couple cars ahead of me, but there were restaurants around and to go eat at one. So I walked across the street and ordered some food...then the phone ran and I was informed that there were actually more cars ahead of me and they couldn't do my car that day before they closed! I heard the staff say in spanish there were only 2 cars ahead of me, but all of a sudden, there were more....I let the guy know I heard the spanish conversations...but he didn't seem to care. Too late now, the food was ordered. Came back the next day...great, no cars in line! I approached the service desk and they said I'd have to go over to their other facility way across town. Needless to say, I didn't waste my time driving across town and went somewhere else. I couldn't recommend this place at all. If they are willing to lie before they even started my service, who knows what kind of lies would have came out once they touched the vehicle.Good luck if you try this place. By the way, I read the other reviews and can tell you that one of them is from a friend of one of the workers there...don't believe me, check out the reviews and then go see what's parked in their parking lot. Response to Owner: First of all, I think it is great Abel that you take the time to review write ups your customers post here. But you too have now fallen victim of reacting to false information from your service advisers. First, I never claimed I drilled my strut tower...I said it was done by Pepboys. Regardless, I was never informed that they thought it would take extra time due to this...so again, bad customer service...and bad employee for now putting you in this position. But in all fairness, I gave your business a second chance (I don't think many would have, but I did) and returned the next day. So to this point, why would I return to the same facility if your service adviser felt I should go to your other facility...why...because I was never told to use the other facility. Neither was I advised that the other facility had better techs or that my alignment would be tougher than normal. I am curious, since my car was not examine whatsoever by your technician, how can you know with absolute certainty that my car would or would not be tougher? So again, you were lied to and are again defending an unsupported position. Once again, bad employee in my book. I have used numerous automotive services throughout the Stockton area (oil changes, tire purchases, parts, transmission work, towing, etc.) and you don't see any write ups on these places mostly because the service I received was just average and there were no problems experienced. But you are correct that I have had some negative reviews against other automotive service centers. My write ups are true and accurate recollections of the series of events and interactions that occurred. Next time anybody buys tires, make sure that your informed and make sure you ask questions about your size. Able it definitely would have helped if you were abit more professional and informative. I came all the way from Oakland after calling and informing the clerk(Able) the size of my tire at least 3x's and he quoted me a decent price but after I got there he tried to say that I said 275\40\ZR 20 when in fact I told him 275\40\ZR 19. I'm positive I told him the right size because I read it from the pad I wrote on after looking at it on my car. I'm 53yrs old and I don't have any signs of Alzheimer's yet or even dementia. But nevertheless I end up paying $130 more than the price he quoted FOR THE TIRE . Yeah he sold me a tire and it was the sum what right size but it wasn't LOW PROFILE like I wanted. I was definitely PISSED OFF 2 DAY'S LATER AFTER I looked at it and saw it wasn't a ZR. Juan called me back after I called and expressed my opinion about me coming all the way from Oakland and the price change and getting what i asked for . But bottom line, BUYER BEWARE educate yourself on anything that you going to spend your hard earned money on, and hopefully along the way the individuals you buy from are informative, and have integrity to be good business men and or women. I've been a customer here since 2011. The place has gone downhill. Long story short. They were great the first few years but since about 3-4 years ago- something happened. Change of ownership maybe. Last year I was sitting there waiting for my oil change. I was told my car was ready- but I never saw it move from the spot I parked it and when I went back to my car the drivers seat was in the same spot ( I'm only 5'1"). Went back inside and made them check with everybody to see who "worked" on my car. It was nobody so they took my car to be serviced. Most recently in August 2018, I went to have my oil change and was told I needed a new air filter. I consulted with my hubby and decided we'd change it ourselves. Since my oil change, my engine lights been on. My air tube was ripped in half and duct taped back together. I am no longer a customer of El Camino Tires. I wish I could sue them because I'm a heavy commuter and I've wasted lots of gas because ppl want to be lazy and deceitful. read more

! I'm so disappointed my husband has been a mechanic for a really long time and he asked if he could see when they aligned it and they gave him a bullshit excuse! Saying it's too dangerous!!!!! you need to learn customer service skills! I originally came in for an oil change and when I was driving off my car stopped on el dorado not even 200 ft away from the business. My car was perfectly fine before we brought it to the shop. Do not!!!! I repeat!!! Do not got to the one on pendleton pike in indianapolis. They will destroy you lugs on your rims. I took my car there to get a patch on my back tires. They hammered my lugs into rubble to get them off because the equipment they use to remove tires and rims are out dated . Not to mention. I had a set of 5 lugs. I went to el camino for tire changes and decided to get used tires. I understand that used tires are not the best, obviously because they are used, but that does not qualify them to have lack of quality when installing the wheel on the rim. I did not get more than 3 minutes away from el camino when I realized my car felt funny. When I stepped out I could not believe the atrocity that was in front of me. I saw my wheel barely hanging onto my rim, I was disgusted!So, I did what any person would do, called them back to fix the problem, but sadly they were closed and the answering machine was full. Came here for a Groupon deal and decided to give them a try. I got my brakes replaced and my tires rotated as well as an oil change. When I got my car back, I noticed that the brakes started to smoke up, I called the shop and they said it was normal because the brakes were new. The next day, my car had a knocking sound. It turns out the gear they had put on my brakes weren't tightened. I brought my car back again. Now it's the third day I have my car back and my car's alignment is off when I drive it on the freeway it pulls to the right. I will go to another shop! Also, my lugs were stripped!! Stay clear. I bought tires in September, fair price. The short story is I spent probably 20 minutes after they were installed trying to get them to inflate the tires correctly, then later discovered several loose lug nuts and a missing lug nut. They also could not figure how to reset the tire monitor system and basically suggested I live with it. Went back about the missing lug nut, they agreed to order it and call me when it came in. No call after several weeks, went back and it was there. Just returned for a rotation and to fix a leak. They rotated them but again, my tire monitor system is all jacked up, they cant reset it. I show a front and a rear tire as the two front tires. They said they patched the tire. Next morning I get in my truck and the tire had 1 pound of air pressure. They basically lied about fixing it. On top of that, the manager has less than desirable customer service skills. Guess that wasn't a short story , but my opinion is save yourself some hassle and look elsewhere. Well I was happy with it until I left the shop and lost my hubcap.. They failed to put them back on correctly and would not replace the one I lost. They were the ones that came with my car and its 10years old now. Never had a issue with them falling off before. I checked the other three and they were so loose I had to tighten them by hand. Poor follow up and lack of concern for their negligence means this will be the last time I get breaks here. Now I have to buy all four new hubcaps that won't even be factory. About two months ago I got a nail in my tire. I took it here and paid about $10 to get it repaired. Yesterday I got a nail in my tire and took it in at American Tire. They could not fix as El CAMINO Tire used a "Gas Station Plug" to fix. How does a reputable tire company use such a poor patch? They figured that if never find out. Well, I now have to purchase a NEW tire as they have ruined my other tire. Thanks for nothing El CAMINO Tire!! Brought my car in for an oil change. They left the air filter box partially unhooked and left a critical sensor on the box, unplugged. So got in my car, wrench icon was on on my dash. Drove around the block and the engine was running roughly at about half of its normal power. Never had the wrench icon come on in the entire history of ownership with not just this car but any! Went back in and discussed with the service writer and he stated they just changed the oil and nothing more. He thought the wrench came on due to the oil change. He attempted to turn off the sensor and it went off for about 5 mins. Panicking I headed over to another chain-store shop and the regular service writer opened the hood and immediatly spotted and corrected the negligence in about 10 seconds. I called in asking for a resurface on a pair of rotors. Since I was performing a brake job for a friend. I walked in I talked to the front desk guy who is probably the manager, who also dispatches the work. He was polite at first, and I told him "Hey, I called recently for a rotor resurfacing, this is the first time these rotors have been service, but let me know if these arent resurfacable." He replied "okay, they'll be done 30-45 mins." I walked back into the shop after the 45 mins, and considering that it was slow and there was not many cars in service. I brought the rotors back home only to find out they were not resurfaced properly, they were not smooth nor true surface. I have a background of 5 years in the automotive field, 3 years at Toyota, and another 2 years at Tesla as a service technician. I know a bad cut from a good cut, since I've made mistakes when I had first started. This mechanic looks like he had 20 years of experience above mine, and he dared to argue with me as a customer. Luckily I knew what I was looking at. So I brought it back politely saying " This was a bad resurface, and there is a lot of chatter marks on this rotor, you left a lip on the rotor, and a deep groove from the scratch cut." He replied "we'll do another run through." I waited an hour for them and no call back. So I called them, service writer replied rudely "Yea, they're done." I went back only to find disappointment. The resurface was rough in certain parts of the rotors, and other side was smooth. Which would cause a brake vibration. I told the service writer, that it was still bad. He said "I wont cut it again, these rotors were warped, and I'll only charge you half off." He was trying to charge me twice, and then I said "what're you going to do about my rotors, they're worse." He kept reitering himself about how he didn't want to cut it again. I replied "I don't want you to cut it again. Since you messed up for a second time. So what're you going to do about my rotors." The technician steps in and the conversation escalates. He replies rudely "I won't cut it again. They're as smooth as can be, when you cut rotors they're not supposed to be perfect." I told him "Do your really want to get into it with me? Give me my money back." Instead of trying to defuse a situation they agravated it, and I walked out as they were muttering words. I'll never go back to that shop due to their blatantly rude service writer, and washed up mechanic who I'm lead to believe is the owner of El Camino franchise. El Camino tires if you're reading this, take this with a grain of salt and just quit. read more
