The main room plays a mix of Spanish music, including Bachata, merengue, cumbias, and reggaeton, with an occasional hip hop track thrown in. The second room seems to stick mostly to reggaeton and hip hop. Live bands rotate every week and play on both Fridays and Saturdays. Both halls feature large bars. There is plenty of seating available if you are purchasing alcohol. If you are not drinking, you cannot sit down for free; you have to pay for a table. The staff is friendly. Drinks run between $8 and $15 for alcoholic options, and water is $4. A notable thing here is that a lot of people come specifically to dance--I saw women coming alone and positioning themselves near the dance floor. The crowd felt like it was generally mid-20s and above. The overall atmosphere with other patrons was friendly and not combative. My one gripe is that the music can be very, very loud. For parking, it's $10 in the back lot and $20 if you park in the front.

I had a Cuba Libre and it tasted bottom shelf spirit as well as the cola itself. First time going and my friends standing at bar were asked to dance several times. Reserve prior if u want a table. Mix of dj and live band who played salsa and merengue mostly. I heard the DJ play salsa, merengue and bachata before live band started. The restroom has several stalls and is kept clean. A lady sitting inside provides the hand towels to dry your hands. Tips appreciated. Valet parking only- $10 behind building and $20 in parking lot. Entrance charge definitely on a Saturday.

Haven't been posting as much as I usually do... yelp is not as fun this year, BUT I will still post…read moreonce in a while on the new, fun places I visit! If youre an 80s and 90s FREAK you will love Barbarellas. Of course parking is crazy in this area and can cost as much as $20 so I would take an Uber from wherever you are. The dance floor is full of life. Young and old, colorful, vibrant personalities of all shapes, sizes and depths come here to let loose and just have FUN! A night very much needed on my end. Every one is care free and dancing the night away. My feet were so swollen after a fun filled night here that I could hardly walk the next day. Just think, a night filled with Madonna, Duran Duran, Kate Bush "Running up that Hill"! Yesssss! Good drinks, great people and no one to judge you. Highly recommend coming here for a fun night of dancing with friends. Thanks Barbarellas for yet another fun night in the books!:)

The drinks are severely overpriced for what you get. The bar tenders are decent but the bouncers…read moreare terrible. Every time I have been with friends someone gets kicked out for a dumb reason and yesterday I was kicked out 30 minutes from close because I sat down on a bench outside and used my inhaler for my ASTHMA literally a life saving device, after being in the pit for over 30 minutes. He even knocked it out of my hand and I had to use my phone as a flashlight to find the pod while he stood over me and wouldn't let me go back inside to even find my dd or let my friend go into to find him. The staff is ableist and not understanding in the slightest and won't listen to reason even when you're even a little intoxicated. One of my other friends got kicked out one time for tripping. So I would only go here if you have no intention of having any type of human needs. I would also like to point out there was someone on the patio literally passed out on the patio that they deemed allowed to stay. I'm extremely disappointed in the staff for turning one of my favorite places in Houston into the worst experience I've ever had with a staff member at a bar or a club.

Love this place. Ended up spending New Year's Eve here last night and honestly couldn't have picked…read morea better spot. The energy was high, the dance floor stayed packed, and the vibe felt exactly like what you want going into a new year--fun, welcoming, and alive. It's one of those places where you can show up as yourself, dance without judgment, and just be in the moment. The crowd was a great mix of people, everyone in a good mood, and it felt like one big shared celebration rather than just another night out. Always a solid choice, especially for a night like NYE.

At first glance the club looks exactly the same as it was before for anybody who used to come here in the 90's. Again, I'm pretty sure everybody working there is still the same too but probably using larger fonts on their phones like I am. The club has always been super diverse from the young people just starting out their journey into "clubbing" to old people enjoying the music they grew up with. Hell, there was even an old lady with a walker there this time. You don't see that in the Midtown clubs. There is also a noticeable improvement on the sound system. I'm not an audiophile so I don't know the finer points of what makes things sound good but the music just sounded crisp and you can hear all the details. They also have a really good light system with laser beams and LEDs all over the place but it's not over-done. The bathrooms....yeah they're the same. nasty nasty wet floors. A few notes, as it turned out, the cover charge is now $10 instead of $5 in the old days but the door guy told me that if you guy before 10pm, it's still 5...I was there like 10 minutes too late so it would have been nice of him to forgive that extra 10 minutes alas, it is what it is and maybe in 14 years I'll actually ask around first! I kid...On the plus side, they had happy hour till 10:30 PM and drinks were like around $2? so it kind of made up for it. I'm not going to lie, I had a blast even though the AC was not keeping up with the crowd. I'll try to make it here more often now.
