Been going here for over 10 years. They're tacos are great especially their Pastor. Don't bother with their burritos, they are always very generous with the rice and very stingy with the meat, even if you ask for extra meat (and pay for it). I'm giving them two stars because they were saying some things in Spanish that they thought I didnt understand. Spanish was my first language. This is coming from me and I'm not a big fan of burritos in general. I did actually really enjoy this one -- I got the carne asada super taco and sliced in half was enough dinner for two. Also NOT disgustingly drippy and did NOT fall apart (my biggest pet peeve about burritos... that I feel like I took a shower in burrito when I'm done). Even though it's a super burrito and had "everything" in it, it didn't feel heavy or overseasoned, and the beef was delicious. And the chips were free with two kinds of salsa (the verde was good). Fast service for takeout. Parking is a bit of an issue, from the looks of the "lot" they weren't expecting more than 5 guests at a time, even though there's plenty of seating. read more

Good food! My boyfriend and I got 7 tacos and one Horchata for $11.45. Great price. We sat down, grabbed some chips, and before we knew it, our food was at our table. That's right. They walk your food over to you. Everything was tasty, even the Horchata. The chips are FREE. We were able to fill up on 2 baskets of chips and our tacos. We didn't even need beans and rice today. We go here often. Really good food, guys behind the counter are friendly and v good prices. Chili verde is my go dish. Nice kick and they give a larger portion. The parking does suck here. I can't imagine what it is like when it's busy. The prices are decent. I got the nachos, but I don't like their chips, they are like the kind you can buy at Safeway. When I first moved to San Carlos, I did not have pots and pans so I had to venture out to find some eats. The first place I stumbled upon was El Charrito. I ordered a wet super chicken burrito and was not disappointed. In fact, I found the salsa and burrito itself to be very flavorable. Parking is slim and the chips are hard. Toss a chip in the yummy salsas and you should be able to get past the hard chips :P To this day, this is my favorite place to grab a bite in the area. A mixed experience for our group. I had the tilapia platter with rice, refried beans, salad, and corn tortillas. The dish was great though the tortillas were bland and too soft. Others had various burritos and said they were alright, but nothing out of the ordinary. All in all a decent dinner for us, but not good enough to make a repeat visit. I've been going to El Charrito with my family since I was little and I've always loved it! They already know our orders - even when calling to pick up - which makes it feel so nice that they remember their clients. They're always so friendly and get our orders right. Several things to know when you stop by: Small parking lot (maybe 6 sports); small outdoor patio (enough for 8 guests total; tasty food. Breakfast burrito was excellent. I just wish there was potatoes or rice is the mix. Regardless. It's was very tasty. My wife had the shrimp super burrito and her only complaint was there was too small of shrimp, but she did devour her burrito. I can see myself coming back on a weekend to enjoy a beer and breakfast burrito again. These guys deserve business....let's make it happen! read more

El Charrito is my favorite place for burritos. It's cheap, with a steak super burrito costing about $8 and a veggie super burrito around $6. Plus, an unlimited salsa & chips bar. You have to get the green tomatillo salsa - it's tangy and a little spicy and one of my favorites. The burritos themselves are flavorful and super filling. Sometimes one burrito can serve as 2 meals. It's definitely a good value for a meal, especially with the chips and salsa on the side. It's fairly small inside, and it has a parking lot with about 5 spaces, so I tend to just come here for takeout. Service is quick and they take credit card!! This is our neighborhood Mexican joint and I like it very much! You get free chips and salsa so no complaints there! The only reason it loses a star is because the tacos and burritos are not the most authentic. I also feel like there's not enough meat in the burritos. It tasted mostly of tortilla. However, service is good, food is generally good, the place is good overall. I always walk over from my place, but if you were to drive, parking sucks! Yum. Been wanting to try the various taquerias in San Carlos. Couldn't park at the one across El Camino on Holly, so tried here. It was good. Very busy but very reasonable wait for food. Everything was home made including the taquitos and the shell for the taco salad, even the chips. Would have been nice to have some beers on tap but they had a good selection of bottled. read more

Very nice people and a good location not too too far from from the freeway. The food was good except the shrimp burrito had several shrimp with some of the shell still on them. If I'm in the neighborhood I take a chance on this place again because the food was pretty good. I would just check the shrimp carefully before I ate them. read more

Just went for my first time today and the parking situation here is rough, so I had to park a few blocks away... only to walk up to a line out the door. (gasp!) Anyway, a group of 5 of us at work ordered various burritos / tortas. I personally got the carne asada super burrito which I thought was crazy good. I just wish it could have swam in more salsa (see below). I'd say the only negative thing that happened was that our two orders of "chips and salsa" yielded us two tiny little two-tablespoon salsa tubs. When I went to grab additional salsa, they stopped me and said "no, there's salsa in the bag". So I trustingly left it as it was. So while $7 goes a lot further here than anywhere else in the area, make sure you work in some extra time for parking / waiting in line and definitely make sure they're not cheaping you out of the salsa we all truly deserve. read more

Went here for tacos. Figured I had driven past it a few times, I would try it. I went in and wanted 6 al pastor tacos. The guy recommended them when I asked what was 'best'. He directed me to the cashier and said something in Spanish, then the cashier told me that it was a .75 cent charge extra for something and I was hunger and said whatever so I payed 17$ for 6 tacos. I ate them and they were good, nothing wrong there. However, I got food poisoning and felt extremely sick for the next 3 hours. It was the only food I had eaten since 2pm and I got dinner around 8pm. Haven't been in here for more than a year. Family and I came here for lunch on a Sunday after one of my daughter's activities. As other reviews have noted, very small parking lot, easy to get in, but hard to get out. Inside the restaurant, there are 2 dining rooms, with about 5 tables each. After you look through the menu posted on the wall, you order at the register, pay, and wait for your order to arrive. Here's what we ordered: -3 small flour cheese quesadillas: Must have been good. My older daughter finished them up and ate some of my tortillas that came with my order. -3 tacos: 2 beef, 1 carnitas. My wife said they were very tasty. Had a bite of her carnitas taco, and it was good. Carnitas had the nice caramelized ends, and seasoned just right. -Ham and scrambled egg with frijoles and rice: Youngest had this. Pretty large portion of scrambled eggs with pieces of bacon. It was OK, but had to remember, breakfast is not a specialty here. -Birria (goat stew): I originally wanted menudo (tripe soup. No not the boy group from Puerto Rico). Came with 8 corn tortillas, chopped onions, cilantro, and 2 wedges of lime. Nice, rich taste of mild red pepper in the stew. The meat itself was mild, a bit on the gamey side. Nice good chunks of meat with bone still attached. Only complaint is that I would have like more onions and cilantro for the soup, and to wrap with the meat and the tortilla. Overall, this place is OK, but there lots of choices in Redwood City, just go down south on El Camino Real. Prices are reasonable. read more

Went here for lunch today to meet up with a friend. He lives nearby so he recommended this restaurant. I ordered #24 Two Super Fish Tacos. I'm not sure what makes it super but that's what my friend ordered as well. Anyway we loaded up on the free chips and salsa. The chips were kinda of a disappointment, its like the bottom of a tostitos bag when all you're left with are 1/2, 1/4, 1/6, etc size chips. Anyway I grabbed a bunch of chips and the red and verde salsa. Salsa was actually not too bad, except I quickly ran out of appropriate size chips to dip them with. So we go grab a table and sit down. About 5 minutes later we get our order, the super fish tacos came with rice, beans, and the two super fish tacos. The tacos were tasty but I've been spoiled by wahoo's so it was just ok. The fish was breaded and seemed like they were deep fried but was a good combination with the lettuce and salsa I poured on top. Overall a good place to grab lunch. Parking was very easy when I got there but upon leaving it was a PITA. People on Holly wont @#%#@ let me back up (dude I will wave). One of the Charrito employees saw me and actually came onto Holly and held up traffic for us so I can back up. It was pretty cool but not enough to get another star from me! I've had the carne asada burrito and the chicken flautas from here. Both were excellent. This is waaay better than say El Farlitos, and the free chips are super delicious along. Green salsa was great, red salsa could have been a little bit better. But for being right down the street from my house, The taste is more than satisfactory and I will be a regular here. read more
