Food was very good. Service was good, but they had a large table that ordered just before us, so they said it would be a while. We ordered an appetizer, a salad, and then main courses. We specified what was a main course, and what we wanted to receive first. Unfortunately, we waited WELL over an hour for our food, and then our main courses came out less than five minutes after our appetizers and salad. Even with a large party there, it should not have taken over an hour to make and serve a Mexican shrimp cocktail, a cheese, crisp, a taco plate, and some Molé. The waitress was very friendly and the food, with the exception of the shrimp cocktail which was very bland, was quite enjoyable. We will give them another try in the future. read more

Just got back from El Cisne for the LAST time! A group of us had eaten there before and the food was not bad. HOWEVER, the service was atrocious! It was busy, but that would be no excuse for the owner to be very, very rude. We were a nice quiet table of five middle-aged women sitting in the middle of the smallish restaurant. We waited some time to get served but were chatting and not annoyed yet. By the time we finished our dinner, we had not gotten drink refills and our server did not come to our table even once to check on us. We finally asked for the check and OVER 30 minutes later, we spoke with the owner and he came to our table to say he was sorry but they were really busy. I told him (kindly - not mad) that we waited longer for our check than it took us to eat our food. He replied with a VERY rude "Well, I am TRYING to apologize! I told you we are very busy!" At that point we waited another 5-10 minutes to get our checks and for the server to run them. I always tip very well because I know how hard the work is. However, this time I must say I tipped nothing because they did nothing for us. None of us will be going back to that restaurant ever. read more

We came here with friends and the service was extremely slow even though there were hardly any people dining here. Our server tried to make up for it by trying his best to be a comedian. While he was really nice, our experience still fell way short due to waiting 15-20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, 20+ minutes for our cheese crisp to arrive and then waiting another 45-50 minutes for our food to arrive. The food was mediocre at best. I don't remember what we had and I looked up the menu before writing this review which generally jogs my memory - nada. All I remember is everything that we ate was bland, below average food. I hate leaving a restaurant and feeling like I just wasted my time and calories. My wife really wanted to try this place out because we wanted to try something new. Way dark you can hardly see anything walking around. This places owner must be cold all the time because when I walked in it felt warm. Had a swampy feel in terms of temperature. Food in my opinion was not worth whatever my wife paid. Portions were small (or just right to me); usually we get a to go box but I managed to eat everything on my plate so I was full. Im giving kudos to our waiter who gave us chilled glasses with ice (they don't do soda fountains) which to me was very impressive. The service was decent. The bathrooms seemed clean and they had high quality napkins to dry your hands so to me thats a plus when you know most guys don't wash their hands and you have to open the door. Anyhoos, the parking lot is ancient and the restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with concrete islands galore that insanely zig zag so be careful when walking around from where you park. Overall I really wasn't impressed with this place and my birria enchiladas weren't all that great. It wasn't gross, but you'll never hear me say "we gotta go back to el cisnes"...better off going to blanco tacos or just taco bell. They need cold A/C in that joint and better tasting food. The portions weren't that big of a deal and I would continue with the bar style drink service. Salsa was ok (too much garlic but taste wise not that bad) but served in tiny bowl for a 2 year old that's suppose to be for a table of 4. Also I would recommend larger portions so people at least think they're getting their money's worth. I mean how much does it really cost to make that enchilada fill up the entire plate? Incredibly inconsistent food, which is overpriced, and you don't always receive what you pay for as stated in the menu. They need to also watch a specific male server who will overcharge you for your order- like grossly! So again we come for a visit. The salsa is great no doubt about that. Their sides are amazing guacamole rice soup. But their meets in dishes are flavorless and the fajita meats see dry and over cooked. The shrimp was good though. And the biggest turn off at a Mexican food place is stale old tortillas. Seriously!? Just no. Throw them out if u can't keep them fresh don't serve them to ur customers!! Tasted like a fridge and crumbled when I opened it up....serious turn off. What used to be an excellent dinner has overrun its value. Food is still good, but prices are ridiculous. $20 for a Cadillac Margarita??

We ate dinner inside in March, 2021. They were very busy with at least two parties, one of at least fourteen guests back by the kitchen. Another of ten or so business men in suits. Almost all the other tables were full. There was not enough wait staff! We did not order special drinks or appetizers, yet it was ninety minutes before our dinners arrived, lukewarm. My fish tacos were nonetheless very good, though not hot. My husband's dinner was so-so. Our waitress and the young man filling water glasses were very pleasant, even though they were running their legs off the entire 2-1/2 hours we were there. However the darkness of the decor and dinginess of the restaurant kept overwhelming the food and spoiled my appetite. It may have been clean, but the brown rugs, floor tile with dirty looking grout lines and sad decor were dingy and look way past their prime, look dingy and depressing. The owners should look at some other other Mexican restaurants and take inspiration from their happy colors and bright decor. I hope they redecorate the place sometime. With it always full and not enough waiters, it must be profitable, even though the country just went through the COVID-19 business and the ridiculous rules closing restaurants. Until someone tells me they redecorated or made the dining room way more inviting looking, we won't be doing any dine-in there, even though it is only three miles from our home. read more

This is a restaurant I've been intending to try for ages. I just always seemed to forget it was there. I stopped in for lunch with my wife today. First impression was that it's an upscale, nicely decorated restaurant with a very professional staff. The chips and salsa were excellent, with chips that were real fried tortilla, not Tostito-type commercial ones. I ordered a carne asada burro, enchilada style with whole black beans -- refried are available as well. My wife ordered fish tacos with the whole black beans. After purchasing a certificate from Dining Advantage for a 25%off entire bill, no exclusions other than Dine In only, we decided to have lunch on a Friday afternoon. Food was good and we had a couple of Margaritas and my hubby had 2 beers. The total bill was 95$, I hand over the coupon to Nancy the manager and she came back with a 10$ discount!!! She did not even bring me the itemized bill after the discount she applied. When I complained as to why she did not apply the 25% of the entire bill, she proceeds to tell me it only applies to food. Now remember, before you purchase a certificate, it states whether or not it excludes alcoholic beverages and no where did it state that. Nancy stated she was not going to honor it and my total bill was $85. Instead of manager Nancy try to remedy the situation in order to not lose customers, she did the opposite. I live near by and finally decided to give this place a try. The staff is very friendly which was good and why I give it 2 stars. The food was not so good. I had the mole Oaxaceño. The mole sauce was decent but the chicken was very rubbery and dry, as if it had been boiled for too long. My friend had fajitas and he struggles to cut through the steak as it was also very tough.
