I got to check out El Santo on a Saturday night and it was packed! The decor is on point, i think they did a great job accommodating limited space, and the result is a cozy, fun environment. They have an 'El Chapo' doll, luchadores masks, candles, and many other mexican classics. The menu is a bit limited, however they do have a good selection of mexican beer- wish they had 'Indio'. The food was OK, i was looking forward to tacos al pastor, but they seemed to be pulled pork covered with all pastor sauce. Not really what i expected. Also tried the beef flautas- delish! We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this place while in the search for a good taco Tuesday deal. I had been wanting to try something new outside of our normal spots and the combo of the aesthetics of this place and sign outside reading $3 tacos $5 margaritas really intrigued us. There wasn't a lot of seating inside but luckily we arrived prior to the rush; however, on our way out there was no seating. The taco Tuesday sign is a joke because 1 taco is $3 for the "special" but a normal order is 2 and cost $7. I guess a dollar is better than nothing. When we approached the counter to order, one of the cashiers was very rude. She did not acknowledge us although no one else was in the place. She finally looked at us and rolled her eyes when we tried to order as well as when someone asked what would she recommend. We finally had to place orders with another lady at the counter. The food came out really quickly and was full of flavor. Our favorites were the shrimp, carne asada and short rib. The did mess up our order but we weren't too concerned with going up to correct it because of the attitudes behind the counter. We explored the salsa bar and there were so many options from salsa verde to diablo. The guacamole was disgusting! The appearance itself looked like it came out of a frozen bag and then defrosted in water. It wasn't the correct green, almost looked lime and was extremely watery. We couldn't even eat it! Decor: A1 Burrito: AMAZING tacos: eh It's a small place so don't come with a massive group. The cashier girls kind of have an attitude but they're nice once you start talking to them. Much needed taco spot on 8th Street "Calle ocho" They really took the time to perfect their menu. I have tried mostly all their tacos and I can say they are dead on with tastes and flavors. My favorite thus far is the "mojito pork". At 5 dollars for 2 tacos you can't go wrong. El santo has some cool decor and very well designed. Check out my pics for an idea. The place has a really fun ambience and I definitely recommend stopping by and getting some fun pictures of all their decor. It has a lot of Mexican-influences decor and it's very very colorful and provocative at the same time. We got vegetarian tacos and chips and guacamole. They have tons of salsa options which was great. The tacos were pretty good but not spectacular. And the chips and guacamole did the job but didn't stand out either. The catch phrases on all the walls make for a great conversation starter. Our experience: Tuesday night, which is when we went, is happy hour night with $3 dollar tacos and happy hour drinks. The service was excellent, friendly staff with great recommendations. Our server Eriktz P., was so excellent. He was attentive, never missing a beat and accommodating is considering we where there with our 2yr. He even managed to struck up great conversation with us. When this place first opened I gave it glowing reviews. Everything has changed since then. First, they basically doubled their prices. At first you'd get 2 tacos with each order. Now you get one for nearly the same price as two before. What a deal. Second they changed their menu and deleted some of their best tacos (which by coincidence used more expensive ingredients) so now they just have the basic stuff you find anywhere else. Finally, the PRETEND to be a Primecard restaurant which gives you a 35‰ discount. They participate to attract people but EVERY SINGLE TIME I'VE Gone they come up with some excuse as to why "the Primecard is not working" or the "machine is down" or even the latest and greatest excuse that in order to get the Primecard discount you had to "be a member of the restaurant first" and when you ask how to become a member they say "oh you have to do it with the hostess who is not here now." One of the most instagram-able places I've ever walked into. The theme and decor is super cool with plenty of details all over to keep you entertained. It's a cool concept and they really knocked it out of the park with the decor. It's a tiny place with maybe 4 high tops and along he wall seating. The cashiers weren't rude, they were nice either. Very blah.. The menu is great they have a good variety of tacos. This is more of a fast food joint than anything else. The food itself is just ok. They sound amazing on the menu, they even look good but there's just something missing in translation. Looks like they invested more in the ambiance and decor than the quality of food. They have a club of sorts / maybe a speakeasy in the works next door with looks interesting. They deserve a 2.5 We ate: QUESO - it's a little different than other places. It was thicker than other places that's it's more runny. I also think it was thick because it wasn't heated up enough CAMARÓN - did not like at all, they use these tiny canned shrimp CARNE ASADA - the best of the three, steak had good seasoning and toppings complimented well AL PASTOR - this my personal favorite taco so I always order it if they have it in the menu but they make it with a pineapple sauce that was not my favorite but still good. read more

A (relatively) small, casual Mexican eatery in Little Havana, El Santo Taqueria certainly has the neighborhood beat in Instagram-worthy decor. Pay at the counter, then grab a seat.  El Santo has Jarritos and refreshing frozen drinks. In addition, they offer a range of standard dishes including quesadillas, tacos, burritos, guacamole, and churros. If you're looking for extra flavor there is also a salsa bar. The food is decent, but I think my biggest issue is that it seems more about the trendy look than quality or authenticity. I wish they would make their own chips rather than using the generic and bland tri-colors. So delicious!!!! This place is worth traveling to little Havanna for. These are the best tacos I have had since visiting Miami. The theme of the restaurant is pretty awesome and very well thought out. They are open during this time for indoor and outdoor dining. Have not been here for the food. Went to El Santo Saturday night to celebrate my friends birthday. What was supposed to be a fun night ended up with the birthday boy having to go to the ER. It seems that there was some kind of misunderstanding when he was trying to use the bathroom which ended up with him being unnecessarily beat up badly by 5 of the bouncers. Regardless of what happened, the level of violence was cruel and uncalled for. There is always a fight whenever my friends and I go to this place, I saw the way the bouncers handled the situation and when my friend was on the ground it looked like they were purposely kicking and hurting him. What happened Saturday was extremely horrible and traumatizing. The security guards are there to keep the environment safe, not to attack customers. This restaurant is full of flavor and filled with culture! Each order did not disappoint, let me tell you! The beef gorditas were phenomenal. The tortilla was just right, and with the right texture, it didn't feel like it was leftover from two days ago when my mother made them. They were fresh, and the beef was mouth-watering. Was in Miami for a layover. Looked up points of interest for Little Havana and Calle Ocho piqued my interest. It's an awesome one way road with lounges, bars, cigar bars, restaurants, stores. We needed to order some food for the airport and decide to stop here and order some tacos/burritos (you know, easy to eat on the run food). The food here is awesome. Ordered: a one pound burrito, a skinny burrito, a carne asada quesadilla and an asada bowl (the bowl is $6 and it comes with rice, half an avocado, 4 pieces of fried plantain, beans, a good portion of meat and grilled onion. In my opinion, this bowl is worth $15.00. The burritos and quesadilla was also very good. The meats were tasty and tender. Veggies were fresh and crunchy. The food was so good the we considered risking missing our flight to get more. Will certainly be back. read more
