Listen. All day long I've been thinking about this burrito. All day long. I moved to the Bay Area and I miss this place, so when I was visiting I needed to make a stop. I pull into the driveway at 10:50- admittedly a little late. I've been doing homework all day and rushed out the door to get here before they close at 11. Because sweet Jesus I just want a super burrito. The lady in the drive through says "were closed." I said "wait...don't you close at 11?" She says "we close at 10:45." To add insult to injury, when I pull up to leave the drive through there's a car there getting food. I walked into the gas station to get actual gas a few minutes later and they're still fully operational, music playing and everything, just to make it even worse. I get hating your service job, I've been there. I get that I showed up ten minutes to closing and that's annoying. I get it. But don't LIE to me about closing time so you don't have to serve another customer. That's so lazy and gross and terrible business practice. El Grossioso Burrito would be a more appropriate name for this place. I would only suggest this place if nothing else is open and you are starving. I have had a few different items from this restaurant. The bean and cheese burrito is the worst I have ever had in my life. It is a tasteless slop of smashed pinto beans and cheese. The chile rellano is also gross, the chile was not tender and way too much sauce covers the whole thing. I should be able to see the chiles, it was like they were trying to hide it. We ordered several burritos for a door dash order, the order was confirmed, our dasher went to pick it up and all of a sudden the restaurant canceled our order with NO EXPLANATION. I will never go here again. That is so very unprofessional. Sorry you don't want any business, I guess with covid and all your business is self sufficient. Oh and they waited to cancel until it was too late to order elsewhere. Thanks for that. Now our unit of nurses will just have no dinner while we take care of YOUR family members and loved ones. SMH. I recently moved back to Redding after living in the Bay Area for 11 years and have been craving authentic Bay Area quality Mexican food. Let me tell you this little hole in the wall gas station food completely caught me by surprise and exceeded my expectations. The prices are unbeatable, the quantity is more than you would expect with what you pay. The meat to tortilla ratio is perfect. The burrito I had was the carne asada burrito and the meat went from end to end and it was so good and tender. Also the food was served with a smile. That might not mean much to some but to others a smile goes a long way. Will definitely be going again. read more

We really like this drive thru. You can go in too but we usually drive thru and run home. The carne asada burritos are ginormous. And delicious. With green verde sauce or red if you must. Churros are ok, carne asada is the best flavor and tender. In tacos, burritos or salad. Try it out. Beans and rice and all the other add ons have been good also. Yummy and fast. When I'm eating a delicious burrito, I'm focused. I'm in the zone. Like a soldier going into battle. It's all about the stance--head forward, shoulders hunched, a burrito in one hand, a container of spicy salsa in the other, and eyes focused on my meaty prize. It's about refining my skill of successfully shoving a massive burrito into my mouth without spilling a single drop on my shirt. So this burrito place is in a gas station eh? Well frankly, my dears, I don't give a dam because when it comes down to what I want, El Delicioso delivers. And that is a darn tootin' good burrito at a excellent price. Overall, I've tried the California burrito, the carnitas burrito, and the wet burrito. All of them were delicious and huge. The wet burritos used to be $3.99 but they recently raised it a dollar. Still a great deal because they are big and covered with gooey cheese and yummy red sauce. However, sometimes I find that they skimp on the meats and use more rice and beans in the wet burritos. They don't skimp on the meat for the carnitas burrito though. They offer a salsa bar with pico de gallo, green verde sauce, a couple of other red salsas, and the usual marinated veggies. They also have a drive-thru, if you would like to gorge in peace or if decide your burrito eating skills are not yet refined enough for the public eye. Based on price, I think El Delicioso beats out Los Gordos as my go-to burrito place (this is by Redding standards of course). If I want ambiance, I'll go to Puerto Vallarta. But when I want to satisfy my burrito hankerin's, you'll find me at El Delicioso. Just don't bother me while I'm in the zone. I have lived my adult life by three rules: Rule No. 1: You do not talk about fight club. Rule No. 2: Stay away from free rides in strange white vans Rule No. 3: Never eat from a restaurant located in a gas station. Thankfully El Delicioso Burrito has expanded my horizons on rule number 3! I had to give it a try after reading so many other reviews and decided to look past the 76 Gas Station exterior. I went with the combo number 8: Two Carne Asada tacos, beans and rice. Added a large horchata total came to $11.37. Well worth it! Food was delicious great serving size, quick and friendly service. To quote the husband it was scrum-didly-umptious! We were cruising through Redding on our drive from LA to Portland and got hungry and decided to look past the gas station exterior and were so glad we did. The hubs chose the Californian and I went with the vegetarian burrito minus cheese and sour cream. Mine was amazeballs, all the flavors were on point and they did not skimp on the guac. The hubs was "the perfect balance of meat and potatoes" he couldn't really taste the avocado though which was a bummer. Both burritos were good size we just wish they were rolled tighter as we were eating in the car. My horchata was delish too! Definitely worth the stop and just goes to show never judge a book by its cover. read more

I have tried this place twice. Once a year or so ago, and I it was alright, but just okay. Today our whole office ordered it, so I got to try it again. I ordered a meat-free breakfast burrito with only eggs, potatoes and cheese in it. There were a few chunks of bacon in my meat-free burrito. If this was an ingredient a customer requested not be added due to allergy, this could have been a big problem. Suffice to say, I am not happy at all, and will not be trying them again. read more

The masses are correct when they suggested the Redding Mix breakfast burrito. It's loaded and juiced up with sour cream and cheese. We must have waited 15 minutes for our food to be ready. It's slow going early in the morning but it was worth the wait. I'd like to see efficiency as a rated scale because on the ole' 1-10 scale with 10 being Ze German level of efficiency. I have had the torta adobada, and also the California burrito adobada. Both were incredibly delicious! I love al pastor, and the adobada is great here. I'm so happy they let me get the California burrito with adobada. I love that there is a drive thru! They're prices are also very decent. The tortas are only $5.60 and huge! The California burrito is $5.99 and also a great size. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because their tacos are way too expensive. $2.99 for a soft taco is absurd. My favorite place for authentic tacos with delicious rice and beans. Can't find tacos like this anywhere else. That Boeing said I didn't give 5 stars for one reason. I went last week for my fix and was sadly disappointed. It seems the portions have all SHRUNK!! It's so sad. Worst Mexican food I've probably ever eaten. Ordered carnitas and a ham quesidia. The carnitas was some crusty burnt pork that was little better than dog food. Horrible customer service. I pulled up to the drive thru to order and to my surprise noone answers me for 5 minutes of saying "hello". So I did what any sane person would do. I pull up to the window instead to order since noone is answering. A car is in front of me for 30minutes waiting apparently they had an issue (okay fine I'll let it go). As soon as I want to order they tell me they can't take it because they already have the order behind me ready? How hard is it to take the order on the window and pay there? Not my fault noone answers during business hours. Wasted 30 + min of my life and time for someone to tell me I can't order at the window. At least give me a solution or make it up to waiting customers for wasting time. read more

This menudo is not bad at all, DO try this authentic mexican soup. So far best I've had in Redding Ca. Comes in a small bowl with tortillas of your choice(corn or flour),cilantro, slice of lime and onion on the side. This is ONLY served SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS. It is pretty good for a drive through Mexican restaurant inside a gas station. The food is consistent, hot, and fast! The only thing that has ever annoyed me about this place is I always ask for extra salsa and they'll put one (maybe two) small cups of salsa in the bag.
