My husband and I are moving near the area, and looked on Yelp for most reviewed Mexican restaurant. The pictures of the food sold us, and we decided to give it a try. Service 10/10! We were greeted by a friendly host, Arturo, who seated us and was so welcoming! I told him it was my first time and saw the Yelp reviews. He gave my husband and I recommendations on popular items from the menu and his personal favorite(s). I took his recommendation, chicken enchiladas verdes. DELICIOUS! Our waiter (please forgive me, I can't remember your name) also friendly and personable. Ordered a tray of their Chili Rellenos to go. When we served them I noticed they were hard to cut. Typically you should be able to cut them with a fork, not this batch, apparently they didn't cook the chilies prior to stuffing them. So you're basically eating RAW stuffed chilies with all the seeds. Was sick all night vomiting horrible. Additionally- after I posted the review, talked to my daughter she also was vomiting after eating it. Tried calling to speak to manager and they hang up on you. read more

The carne asada plate is a garnish of beef. The rice is day old double boiled, spoiled rice. Rice grows harmful bacteria when eaten the next day. El farolito sells day old spoiled rice. Rice beans and tortilla is all you get the meat portions are tiny garnishes. Each person in our group ended up with different levels of food poisoning immediately after eating here. I was so excited to have dinner here. It had been years and I remember those amazing beans! The service was a little below average, but the kid was so nice and I felt like he was new, so you have to allow for that. I was so surprised at how empty the place was. I remembered it always bustling with a waiting line. Still a light, friendly atmosphere. We ordered a ground beef taco with double beans, no rice. One bite of the taco and no lore. Horrible. It was so greasy and warm. The meat was lacking the taste of being freshly cooked and the amount of dripping grease was odd. The beans were covered with so much cheese it congealed into a removable lump and they clacked that flavor that made them so distinct. They are now very ordinary. As a server if I saw one e bite and my customer declined the to go box, I would investigate further, but he had no interest. So, basically after eating here for over 12 years I'm actually done. The food and drinks here are so good! Drinks are also surprisingly cheap -- they have beers and wines for $5, margaritas for $7-8, and well drinks for $7-8 as well. They give you unlimited chips & salsa. I got the veggie burrito and it was really good. We also got the guacamole which was very flavorful. I'll definitely be back again. Be prepared to wait since it's a pretty popular restaurant and you can only put your name down in person. This restaurant has been on my bookmarked for years, finally made the time to come check it out. I was not disappointed. The best mexican restaurant I've had in OC in a while. I believed I ordered either the Carne Asada plate or the steak picado. Regardless, it was so gooooood. It was a combination of jalapeno, onion, steak, mexican rice, and beans. Very authentic and fresh. Tortilla's were a perfect addition the meal. I would highly recommend this dish for meat lovers. My fiancè ordered the taquito plate with rice and beans. She's hispanic and she absolutely enjoyed her meal. After many years of me taking her to MY favorite mexican spots, this one had her approval haha. I went a several times on Taco Tuesday and El Farolito on Harbor Blvd in Fullerton does not disappoint. The food was great, margaritas perfect and the added ambience and camaraderie further enhanced my enjoyment. I also thoroughly enjoyed the location of downtown Fullerton with so many people strolling on Harbor Blvd. The restaurant has all glass windows adding to my" people watching"pleasure. I had the pleasure of finally being able to eat at this restaurant. Previous experience was eating the leftovers my wife's boss had catered for a luncheon. Even the left overs tasted amazing so i couldn't wait to actually sit down and have it served hot and fresh. Let me tell you it doesn't disappoint, from the fresh made tortilla chips to the fiery hot (spicy) salsa for the chips my palette was ready for what's to come. Service was great and the food came out pretty quick, i love their re-edited beans with cheese sprinkled on top and then blasted in heat so the cheese develops this beautiful crust. I ordered the carnitas platter and good lord it was delicious, everything was what i expected it to be and more. If you're in the downtown Placentia area it is worth the wait. read more

Amazing Ambiance as we walked up and were greeted by warm heaters outside the restaurant, would be a perfect place for date night! Service was prompt and thoughtful, with an expansive menu of choices. Salsa and chips were provided which we could not get enough of!. The restaurant was clean and despite being busy, the staff was so hospitable and accommodating. The food was extremely fresh with generous portions and a very thorough drink menu! definitely our favorite Mexican restaurant in the OC! We always always order the Carne Asada plate because the meat is sooo tender and flavorful. It definitely hits the spot every time!! We also tried the tostada bowl because I was craving it and it was still delicious but I wish it had rice inside instead of just refried beans. Regardless, we ate everything and nothing was left on our plates. Also, the chips and salsa they offer for free are also stars of the show. The red salsa has a spicy kick to it, which is a nice variation from regular chips and salsa or chips and guac. We usually go during lunch or right before the dinner rush comes in because the wait times are LONG, so be prepared for that if you're coming during the weekend. read more

This place is so good! Been there twice. It's far from my house. But it has the best green enchilada sauce in the whole world!!

We consider ourselves fortunate to have been told to eat here by the front desk clerk at our hotel. There was a small crowd waiting to be seated when we arrived about 6pm on a Saturday evening. They had chairs lined up so you could sit while you waited. We only had to wait about 15 minutes before we were seated. The wait time went by quickly. My wife ordered the carnitas plate. I had a chicken enchilada with green sauce with a Chile rellano combo plate. The first bite of the enchilada was such a surprise - the texture of the tortilla was unlike any other enchilada I ever had. I will judge all future enchiladas by my experience here. The atmosphere, service, and food exceeded all of our needs. Looking forward to when we are in the area again to return. read more

It was super busy on a Wednesday night with a long wait- isn't that all you need to know to know whether a place is going to be good or not? They get an extra star on price. For the price you pay, the portions are very filling. My tween son who normally can eat a whole cow was stuffed. Carne asada: I've had better to be honest, the steak is very thin and I'm used to a much thicker carne asada. But it was chewy enough for my little one and flavor was good. Burrito special: pretty good and flavorful. Very filling. Steak picado: excellent- my favorite dish out of what we had at the table. Service is a little lacking. You want something? Better get your hands up and flag someone down. But other than that it's pretty quick and efficient. We ordered a margherita and it never came until the bill came out but they put it on the house bc of that which def made up for it. This will be my new go to place for Mexican. read more

Omy gosh one of my favorite spots for Mexican food. First thing is how delicious their chips and salsa are. SO GOOD. We have been eating here for years and dine in occasionally but we usually just get our regular dishes to go since there can often be quite a wait to eat in the restaurant. My favorite is always the carne asada plate. The portion of deliciously cooked meat and accompanying jalapenos, onions, and salsa is always generous. I have never been a fan of beans but I absolutely love the El Faralito beans. Whenever I eat at other Mexican restaurants, I always compare their carne asada and beans to El Faralito, but they are never as good as here. The chips are freshly made and the salsa is great and definitely on the hot side. If you get a container of salsa to go, it gets even hotter after a day or two. The staff is always great too. Even when I'm just picking up a to go order, whoever is at the register is always very friendly, asks how my day is going and if I have any fun plans. If you come here for the first time, I'm sure you will be returning often as we do. read more

We arrived 2:"0 and it's 3:29 and we still haven't been seated when we were told only 45 min wait. I do recommend arriving 2 hours before your wanting to eat. They have outside seating in a parking lot. The heaters aren't even on and don't work as we were waiting to be seated. Hostess said 45 min a hour later 30 min and so yah! Not good. The chips We're freshly made! Excellent! Salsa too spicy. The food was good Even though my tacos were broken and couldn't enjoy them without a fork. Everytime we are in the area to go to our other favorite Mexican restaurant next door, we see a lot of people waiting by this restaurant, we put our name down a couple of times but it was over an hour wait around 5 o'clock. Today we decided to come around 3:30 and we only waited about 5 minutes. The restaurant is very casual and authentic, the service was EXCELLENT. My husband and I both had the Carne Asada plate and chips and Mexican Guacamole and it was excellent. We loved the peppers and onions on the steak and the rice and beans were amazing.
