My coworker recommended this spot for lunch, and I was impressed! It's a fast-casual Mexican spot comparable to Chipotle, however, I definitely love El Fuego a lot more! I got the burrito bowl where I opted for their steak, Spanish rice, yellow onions, cilantro, black beans, jalapeños, and guac on top. It was the perfect mixture and I even had leftovers for a snack the next day! My only ding would be the price as my burrito bowl with guac ended up costing over $18 which is a bit pricey for lunch.

Love this place, the staff is super friendly and the option to customize your order ensures you get exactly what you want. We ordered the el fuego burrito, carne asada quesadilla, and carne asada fries - would definitely order again! Love that they are open on some weekends, specifically on busy sac weekends like Sac Anime and Chalk It Up! Great seating inside and option to sit outside too!

El Fuego Express- located on J street across from the Sheraton hotel. Figured I would try it out. I got the chicken wrap. Which was delicious. It had a chipotle sauce that was so good, chicken, tomotoes, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, pico! It was also huge! Will definitely come back to try a breakfast burrito!

El Fuego Express is one of my regular spots for lunch due to the convenient location in the heart of downtown Sacramento. This location provided ample seating both indoor and outdoor and is a great option if you want quick flavorful meal. Orders are "chipotle style" where you can select your choice of meat, beans, rice and extras to prepare your order exact to your desire. I normally opt for the two taco combo plate and quality has always been consistently good and the staff is always very friendly. Has a complimentary salsa bar is always clean refilled frequently and has a fountain drink machine with all the extra combinations for your soft drink preference (ie Cherry + Vanilla Pepsi) Check it out!

Stopped by for a quick lunch and I really enjoyed my bowl. The portion size was perfect and the flavor was perfect. I love that they have a self serve salsa bar! Service was fast and super friendly. A great spot for a quick bite with a decent amount of seating inside. I would definitely go back.

Service and food were incredible. Went here because it was across from my hotel and the good reviews. Probably the best burrito I've ever had. For real this place is fire. I did the Cali Burrito with Guac. I have to be careful what I eat and the woman at the counter was very patient and helpful so not sure what the last review was about. I was here at 2pm. 100% recommended.

I got the 2 taco combo plate with one chicken taco and one asada taco with cilantro, onion, and mild salsa. The food was high quality and they were generous with portions. They grill the meat outside the restaurant and the inside of the restaurant was very clean. They have lots of tables and the service was fast and friendly. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch during the week if you are downtown.

Would love to have a better experience to rate, but I came in at 2:45 and they said they were closed. I asked when they closed, and they replied at 3. Ok, and it's before 3....So I looked at her and she just kind of shrugged. If that's the policy that's fine, just done have 3 as the time posted. Super frustrating when I got ready and headed out specifically to this place because of the positive Yelp reviews.

My friend and I shared the Carne Asada Fries. It was huge. Every bite was so delicious. A new favorite lunch spot.

Service was fast and easy, everything inside was clean and nice but I didn't find the food to be very flavorful. It looked so good and even now looking at my picture it looks delicious but I didn't love it. Might have to try it again because I see lots of positive reviews.

Sheesh tell em to bring out thee whole ocean. The restaurant is very clean and nice. Their choice of music is amazing and reminds me of my grandmas house. O how I miss my abuelita. Anyways service is great and very polite. I don't usually give tips but this place wholeheartedly deserved it. THE FOOD WAS ULTIMATE BUSSSS. My Barrito only had a few seconds of life before BOOM gone. Overall I recommend this place and believe that this is the best Mexican food in sac!!!!!!!!

Food is great, highly recommend their breakfast burritos. Also, their tacos are really good as well. Salsas are nice and spicy.

We finally had time off again on a Sunday to come and enjoy thier yummy Sunday Brunch…read more Everything tasted amazing! Wish I could eat more I would of tried more dishes. Last time we were there I thought I was able to get just plain tortillas from the tortillas lady spot. But she looked confused then I asked for a few flour tortillas. She asked what meat I wanted to make street tacos. That's fine the pork tasted very good. But I like plain tortillas with the eggs and other dishes. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I guess next time we will ask the server. We started with the omelets this time. Very good and well made. We tried many things, hard to take pictures. It was very busy and carrying a plate didn't work well when taking pictures.

The portions have been cut in 1/2 for a lot of menu items here over the last 5 years namely the chimichangas but seems like everything else too. The chimichangas used to be twice the size they are now and were loaded with cheese. Now they have no cheese and 1/2 the filling so there mostly flour tortilla now. Very disappointing and the plates they use now are smaller, they used to serve the food on these huge platters. Anyway went there last night (1st time in 3 years) and this is the plate I got. The 2 chimichangas are now the same size as the tamale on the other side of the plate. The service was terrible too. We did not get our food until almost an hour and by the time the food showed up we were full from the chips and bean dip and salsa wich by the way we had to wave them down several times as we seemed invisible to refill the chips and our drinks. We wont be going back again for probably another 3 years. I highly recommend Felipe's in Citrus heights on Auburn blvd. Way better value and the food quality is on par with el tapatio but with five star service!

The restaurant had great energy and a fun, buzzy atmosphere. The crowd was a lively mix of people from the Capitol, couples enjoying date night and moviegoers grabbing dinner before or after a show. We ordered the carnitas and carne asada. Both plates were generous and full of flavor. The carnitas were tender and practically fell apart with a fork, and the carne asada was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the service was lacking during our visit. One of our meals was forgotten and we had to flag down the server to let him know. Our server also wasn't around very often, so it was difficult to get refills or ask for anything we needed. When we requested a specific number of to-go boxes, we weren't given enough and had to get up and ask for additional boxes ourselves. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but I took away 1 star for the lack of service. The service could definitely use some improvement, especially since it wasn't busy when we went. With more attentive service, this could have been a much better dining experience.

I hadn't been in a few years…read moreand had really been craving their food, so when we had tickets to a show this past week I wanted to take my girlfriend there beforehand. It's always been a busy place and sometimes hard to get into before a show, but the service was always great. This time we sat outside, which actually had a really nice view of the Golden 1 entrance. Our waiter was really nice and courteous, but it was pretty obvious he was doing the job of about three people. He did the best he could and stayed friendly the whole time, but when you're spread that thin it's hard to stay on top of drinks, food coming out, checking on tables, etc. We didn't really hold that against him because it seemed much more like a staffing issue than anything he was doing wrong. One of the things I've always liked about Polanco is their carafe of Palomas. We ordered one at the bar and then another at the table. When we got the bill, we noticed an extra charge for four cups. After looking at it again, we realized that after paying $48 for a carafe, you're also being charged for the cups you drink it out of. That is honestly one of the most ridiculous charges I've ever seen at a restaurant. I've always really liked this place, so it was disappointing. Being short staffed is one thing, but that's a management issue, not the waiter's fault. Charging people extra for cups after they just bought a $48 carafe of cocktails is just wild. This review does not refer to their food, ambiance, decor or staff. Unfortunately this has to do with under staffing (managing issue) and now charging for CUPS
