Seems like this location has gone through some changes since my last review. I used to love coming here but the last 6 months the quality of the food has gone downhill. I like their sopes and wanted that plus two tacos. For a sope, two asada tacos and two drinks it was almost $22. For those prices, they can't even give you the pickled carrots that they used to give out. Every time I ask the lady behind the counter says "no more." I thought my sope was a tostada- I had to break the thing with my teeth to eat it. Crunchy sope? Yeah hard pass. Two little street tacos and they be stingy with the carne now. Like damn, I guess I'll be sticking to salsitas. Homemade sopes that are fresh and soft how they should be and free pickled carrots and frijoles de la olla. Wish my food looked like the pictures I took from the first time I went. What a comparison. read more

For being located in a conscience store, this place is amazing! The service and small seating area were great for being in a gas station. Kept clean, friendly, and pleasant it's a great spot to have some delicious food. The birria pizza was by far the star of the show! I had it for 2 days afterwards and every slice I heated up and ate was better than the last! Perfect balance of taste, perfect consomé. One of my favorite dishes ever. This is pretty comical. That you actually write that you went back through your video footage to see if the cook put in lettuce. Wow. All you have to do is look at my picture of the second burrito that I came back in for with lettuce in it. Don't gaslight your customers if they're so important to you. I was hesitant because it's in a gas station, but the reviews were pretty good! I went with the Quesabirrias and a side of rice. The birrias were amazing! And dipping it in the juice was amazing! I practically drank the juice when I was done! By far the Best quesabirrias I've had in Arizona! I'm excited to be in the area again and try their other options! This was my go to Mexican, for last year or so, best portions great price, loaded with meat and cheese, today 12-30-25 I go and it's 16.99 for a super nachos, way less toppings and meat, the people are nice, I always get it to go, but this is sad, wayyyy less and more expensive! Super disappointed in the reviews because I did not like the food at all. I had a chorizo burrito and for the price I will say it was a good size but that is all that was good. The chorizo was burnt and has no flavor there was no cheese or potato and the eggs was just one big roll and absolutely no seasoning. read more

We first tried El Gordo in San Leandro CA I had no idea they had one out here in AZ so when I found this hidden gem I just had to try it and MMM MMM MMM is it just amazing as the other location is. The most wicked food poison I've ever had in my life! I woke up and my son wanted this place for his birthday breakfast. We've eaten here in the past and it's okay. Nothing to write home about. It it was decent. Yesterday, I ordered a chorizo burrito and about 2 hours later I felt like my stomach was in knots! I jumped in the shower, ended up taking a quick bath, back to a shower, over to the toilet and back in the shower... I literally felt like my stomach was going to explode!! I did not want to go to the emergency room because they'll charge me $300 and I knew it was food poisoning. ACTIVE CHARCOAL totally helped. Although I still felt like death all night long, it worked! I wasn't going to review but I just woke up right now and still had some dry heaving going on and my stomach is super sensitive. I feel stupid because the reality is, it's a restaurant in a gas station. How many people are really coming in an out of this place. I'm sure they were like a chorizo burrito? Sure let me get that from the way back of the cabinet and slap it on the grill... who cares if it's been there for 2 months... so, shame on me. I will not be returning here. Nor will I recommend. Don't underestimate this place because it's next to a gas station! I was in the area temporarily and was legit one minute away from this spot and decided to try it on my last night. I ordered the street tacos which include guacamole and onions. I tried the carne asada (my favorite, super tender meat and enough flavoring), carnitas (okay, more so bland, but at least the carnitas was soft as pulled apart), pollo (least favorite). They have a little fridge that contained other salsas and the crema sauce which was bomb. Utensils and napkins were right around the corner, there were a few tables to sit and if you walk a few steps over the gas station is there lol. Super convenient! I thought it was quite egotistical to put a giant balloon outside the gas station but hindsight is 20/20. I sincerely apologize for having that thought, what was my brain thinking?! Burrito was filled to the brim, guac and sour cream went crazy. No unused tortillas at the bottom of the burrito, just a nice pool of carne asada oil. Shrimp was fresh, carne was tender and moist with nice bits of char for the texture variation. Included was a green and a red salsa. Red is for the spicy queen and kings but its fire fuego. I had to leave a review because this place checks all of boxes! I grew up in San Diego where taco shops were abundant and delicious and this place definitely reminds me of home. The carne asada and adobada meat are spot on and flavorful. We usually get carne asada fries, California burritos, or adobada (pork) street tacos. The service is quick which makes sense why it's inside of a gas station, a quick stop if you will. They can get your order ready in minutes and it's exactly how you've ordered it every time. The service is friendly and the man is front is always a pleasure. They're not stingy on the hot sauce which is also a huge plus, and the hot sauce is spicy which I love.
