We're still undecided about this place. It should be our kind of place. We like Mexican, we like new places, we like stuff in our town. However, the two times we have had food from here we were left unimpressed. The nachos were lacking we thought. My wife's taco salad was disappointing. It was a taco shell (expected) with a garden salad inside. That's not typically what a taco salad is. I had quesadillas. They were nothing to look at. They tasted okay, but it wasn't something I would return to have. I am sure we will try this place again, but we need it to deliver a good meal for us this time. read more

Food is always fresh. I usually have the chicken taco salad. The guacamole is really good with chunks of avocado. The crab soup is also pretty special with crab and mushrooms. Definitely our goto place!! read more

Make sure you have a reservation, because this place is TINY but so, so good. Both my husband and I are gluten/wheat free (he has celiac, I have a wheat allergy) and haven't had issues with our meals either time we have eaten there. My husband and I have gotten red and green enchilada platters and shared because both are so good. Tamales are different than I'm used to - wrapped in banana leaves, not corn husks - but amazing. This place is awesome. Small little Mexican restaurant in Millville, NJ with outstanding food and service. I can't believe it has taken this long to visit. We will definitely be back. The owner came out to make sure everything was good and that we were happy. We had the appetizer with chicken quesadilla, nachos, and something else that was absolutely delicious. Guacamole was a nice experience we went on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy and I think that it took away from our service. I think our waiter did a good job the guacamole was top notch and they make it right in front of you. We ordered another appetizer with smothered nachos and quesadillas. Best guacamole around, the rest we didn't care for. If you call it steak, it should be steak, not course ground hamburger. That's what's served as steak Sopes. I special ordered a roasted pork burrito, again the meat was ground and didn't have any pork flavor, only a sweet pineapple (ish) tomatoes sauce clove flavor that I just couldn't eat. To the waiters credit he did offer to get me something different but I didn't have much faith in the food at that point. The rice is so so and the beans are good. I did suggest they warn people about the pork, it must be an acquired taste. Not for us! We have eaten at Many Mexican restaurants and this one was disappointing. read more

Visited this place yesterday with my wife and 2 kids (9&3y) while driving through Millville. We had a wonderful authentic Mexican meal in a nice family setting and with excellent service. Tableside guacamole was excellently prepared and did more than justice to the name of the restaurant. Lots of appetizers to choose from (we loved the street corn and tamales). Also the soup was also delicious. Great portion sizes (leftovers were happily eaten for lunch the next day). As transplants from Southern Arizona to South Jersey, this was the experience we have been looking for and will definitely be frequenting in the future! read more

I've been to El Guacamole few times, so this review is due! Everything we ordered on this weekend visit was delicious: the freshly made guacamole, the tamales, the chicken tinga quesadilla and the enchiladas with this yummy mole sauce! I live in NYC and had my share of mexican cuisine, so I can say this small restaurant in Millville has the one of the BEST mexican dishes I ever ate. Skip the bad reviews bellow. This place is charming, the people working there are friendly and attentive. And the service was fast and fluid, even with the restaurant filled to capacity - we got seated within 5 minutes of our arrival, without having a reservation. Lots of free parking in front and around the block. Highly recommended! I can't wait to eat there next time I visit my Millville family. read more

I'm not sure if it's where I'm from or what but this does NOT taste like the Mexican food I'm use to I'm from southeast Texas relocated from Harvey the dip for the chips is just hot no flavor. The burrito comes with a salad or fries not rice and beans? The Queso with chorizo was horrible and greasy. This was my second time at El Guacamole while visiting family. The guacamole is made table side so you know it is fresh. Service is always very friendly and they are willing to explain any dish if need be. You must get the chicken tinga quesadilla. This is the best quesadilla I have ever had. Seriously! Well after a botched trip to a chain franchise restaurant we decided to try El Guacamole. Small place, but wow it was a great time. Very cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. The entrees can be a little pricey for the portion size as compared to what you might get at a chain restaurant but the fresh ingredients and menu options make it well worth it. We decided to eat at this establishment based on the many positive reviews, but what we discovered was this was NOT Mexican food. The first thing we noticed was that they served french fries as a side or accompaniment, that is more of a El Salvadorian or Peruvian thing, not Mexican. We ordered their Guacamole, it not only lacked salt, but was flavorless. Our entrees came and they were bland and possessed no seasoning or spice whatsoever. I am speculating that they cater to a nursing home palate, because this is the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. read more

Honestly, it looked a little bland when it came out since it didn't come with pico/tomato or lettuce (which I could of requested) but it was SO delicious and full of flavor! In this depressed main Street town, this place shines like a beacon. Amazing food. Amazing service. We walked in and the place was buzzing. No tables and due to reservations, no tables for the rest of the night. Then the host told us we could sit outside at the single table outside, underneath the awning. We went for it and were not disappointed. The guacamole was great, the fajitas were great the mole enchiladas were great...even the suggestion to grab a 6 pack from the pub across the street (it's BYOB at El Guacamole) worked out and the wait staff happily opened our bottles. The special today was Mahi Mahi tacos, and the fish was fresh, tender, succulent, and carefully seasoned with just the right sauce and fresh cabbage, 3-opened face on flour or corn. It's always tough to give a proper star rating when you have a mixed experience. I will start with the good. The food is excellent. We were given chips and both salsa verde and what I believe was a smokey, ancho salsa for the table (free) once our drinks where brought. I had the chicken tacos and they where excellent. Great flavor and cooked to perfection. The side of rice was excellent as well, mixed green beans and corn being a please addition. The whole menu looks to be good, authentic Mexican fair. Overall the restaurant is small but nice. There are about 10-12 tables with seating for maybe 25 people. The decor is simple faux-southwest and pleasant. The restaurant is BYOB which I personally find a plus. But with the good comes the bad. After waiting just to order for 15 minutes the food took an additional 45 minutes to arrive. This being my lunch break resulted in having to request to have it all wrapped and taken to go since I was out of time. Huge negative. I realize they are new but during the lunch rush only having one person working as hostess, waitress, and runner is just not acceptable. When all is said and done I would both recommend (maybe call ahead if you're in a rush) and will definitely try again. I just hope they get their service improved as even a great Tasting meal is completely ruined by a long wait and inattentive service. read more

It is small & quaint but delivers exceptionally on FOOD choices & quality. The food is authentic Mexican & well presented and flavored. You walk in off the main street which is currently trying to get revitalized (doing a good job but city is definitely dragging its feet) and enter this small restaurant with about 50 seats, maybe less. The tables are tight but placed well as can be and offer a decent amount of privacy. It is very colorful decor and extremely friendly & accommodating at all times. It is obvious that it is family run & owned and the service reflects the fact that they care about their guest. We have tried several items and they are all flavored and spiced well. The prices are middle range and it is BYOB. A Great spot to go in & get some really good mexican/spanish food surrounded by a nice friendly atmosphere. read more

The food was delicious. Our party rated it 3.9 stars, and would have given four, but had a few reservations. First of all, the price of the guacamole was taped over on all the menus, but we were charged $10 for it on the bill. We were concerned about why there wasn't salt, pepper and hot sauce on the table and the waitstaff was rushing us through the meal, always wanting to take the plates away. This place is delicious! I love their tacos al pastor, nachos, and fried ice cream!! Their horchata was pretty good too, not the best I have had, but definitely decent! The service has been inconsistent, extremely good most times, but very disappointing on 3 occasions. I try to scope the wait staff so I can avoid the particular person with whom I have had issues. After the 3rd time, I verbalized my concerns to the owner who heard me, when on and on about how customer service is important to her, but made no attempt to rectify the issue. I was not requesting or expecting anything in return, but to not even ask how she could win my business or trust back, that's just not acceptable. But at least she listened. We shall see how the service is next time. It's just difficult to trust the people cooking or handling your food after you have had issues and had to verbalize them, which is why I usually don't complain. I almost didn't even want to post this because this place is so good and the service is so amazing that I don't want everyone to find out about it! It was so good we came in for dinner on Saturday and then again for lunch on Monday. The guacamole is amazing and they make it right at the table. Chips and salsa were also boss, and I am quite the connoisseur! Everyone in our party loved their meals and even though we were all stuffed, we ordered dessert because we couldn't stop eating! You can even byo tequila for margaritas! Our waiter, Antonio, even gave us a little cultural lesson on Dia de los muertos and we were given complimentary rice pudding for the occasion. Millville - who would have thought there would be so many restaurants and a cool little eclectic store on Main Street... That being said, El Guacamole started out wonderfully - two of us dined for lunch and ordered the guacamole ($9 - a bit pricey) but they make it at your table and the mahi mahi tacos ($19) which were very tasty and served with rice and refried beans. The food was quite good though a bit pricey for lunch. Jump ahead to the check - $4 "share" fee.... hmmmmm: 1 - When a lunch entrée is $19 and large enough for two, and the guacamole is $9, those two things are more than a sufficient lunch for two people and you should not charge a "share plate" fee... also, c'mon it is lunch, there should be NO shared plate fee at all unless someone comes in and shares one taco; 2 - If you do plan to charge a share plate fee, please tell me in advance or post it clearly on your menu (if it was on your menu, I did not see it); 3 - I have dined all over the world and have never been charged a share plate fee... the first share plate fee in Millville, New Jersey. lol Now $4 is not the end of the world, it is truly the principal and I will not return nor will my friend who to this day continues to tell people about the share plate fee. read more
