The long awaited opening of El Guero #2 is done, sorta. First target was August, second target was October, actual Grand Opening is 15 November. They are in the middle of a soft opening right now at 3055 E Fairview Ave, Meridian. Get your Mariscos on, soon before the currently 3/4 busy location gets packed. I totally recommend the Mojarra Frita and the quesobirria tacos made with chicken.

It was my very first time here. The place is nice it has an open setting. The bathrooms are clean. Our server was nice polite and she answered our questions to the best of her knowledge. The presentation of the food is great. I had the shrimp cocktail and it was good I had to add chille to give it more flavor. The Medusa it's actually pretty good my daughter loved it. The carne asada plate was delicious the meat was tender and very good flavor. The big shrimp that is covered in some red spicy sauce was too spicy for me. I had a mi chelada with a modelo and I loved it a bit pricey but it was good. Over all we all enjoyed our food and each other and the drinks were pretty good.

Food was good but service could've been a lot better. The pricing was on the higher end so yeah. The shrimp plate had more onions than shrimp...a bit unfortunate. Will we come back? Not sure.

Our server, MJ, did a really great job taking care of us. She was nice, friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our daughter had the Unicorn sushi roll with a side of edamame, my wife had a bowl of clam chowder and the shrimp scampi, and I had the fish and chips (cod; they also offer salmon and halibut, but the halibut, which I would have liked, was double the price at $38). For dessert, we shared the key lime pie. My wife said the clam chowder was OK, but more potatoes than clams. She did like her scampi. Our daughter liked the sushi roll. And, I liked the beer battered cod with the tartar sauce, and their fries were nicely seasoned and fairly crispy ( a little crispier would have been nice). The key lime pie had a rougher texture; I like it more creamy. Still good, though. I liked the exterior of the building. Red brick, arched windows that have a Mediterranean feel, and an exterior staircase that gives a bit of an industrial vibe. I thought it would be a little more upscale inside, but it is more basic wood tables and booths. There is a patio area, and it looks like there is an upstairs patio or dining area as well. All in all, a good first experience. We will definitely return.

Of course they had an extensive wine menu, but even though we were both underage there were many options for us. My girls strawberry lemonade was pretty tasty. We made a reservation, so we were seated pretty quickly. The folks were so nice, the ambiance was pretty chill, having dairy queen as a general date spot this was a wonderful treat for us both. We ordered an appetizer of cheese bread. I thought it was pretty good quality, a little high price, bur I expected that because it's a higher end restaurant. Our entree's took a bit of time, but it was to be expected the place wasn't empty. I think we waited somewhere between 15 to 30 minutes after we finished our bread. But when they came, it was worth the wait. I ordered a 14 oz new york strip. My family raises their own beef, so steak is nothing new to us. It was so good, I took a piece home to share with my family, and everyone agreed, it was fantastic. My girl had the rotisserie chicken, falling off the bone delicious, Colonel Sanders needs to step up his game. Another thing I can say, I find usually in high end restaurants I find myself still hungry afterwords, not here, I was completely satisfied with my meal. We ordered dessert, it was the vanilla bean something or other, don't eat fancy so I don't quite know these things. Here comes my only complaint, the sugar coating tasted a bit like burnt coffee, but was still delicious and we ate the whole thing. Before she brought it out, our server asked about the occasion. She took a picture of us with our dessert, which had writing in strawberry sauce, "happy anniversary". Like I said, we don't eat fancy often, especially because we feel unwelcome in many places with as young as we are (18 and 19), but this place made both me and my girl feel special, thank you land and ocean. I cut our faces out for privacy, she took a good picture don't worry about that.

There wasn't a full bar but I enjoyed the wine ( Pinot noir) I had. Others in my group had beer. The servers were delightful, attentive, accommodating and fun to interact with. My go-to would blow him away each time he came through town. Red Fort, we both agreed - meh. The three in the group had our mains but shared a little sample with each other. Vegetable pakora prepared as a 1970s/80s-style fritter, interesting. When you need a chutney to carry the preparation, as opposed to accent, then it's 50 Rupi street cart food. Lamb coconut kurma - If I would have ordered this, I would have sent it back and tried again. Bland and lacking flavor. Lamb at least wasn't super over-cooked. The medium spice was pretty spot-on. My main was the lamb mushroom. Again, lamb wasn't over-cooked, which is nice. Tasted like New Zealand lamb, but I didn't ask. Good mushroom flavor, but I couldn't quite tell if they were canned to start. There was so little in between brightness/acidity of the tomatoes and earthy mushroom and lamb, it was a disappointment. Ginger and caramelized onion is supposed to be the bridge, and I probably would have added a bit of pan toasted coriander and cumin to make just okay - to great. Of the dishes, the chicken makhani was actually the best because it met the mark on what you would expect. Probably a tad "buttery" versus tomato acidity and onion for balance. Again, lacking the middle part of the pallet, but that's why I don't usually order butter chicken. And on the tongue, the sauce did taste like industrial clarified butter product from a 2-gallon jug. I really enjoyed the garlic naan. Rice was a tad wet so it didn't really absorb the sauce of the dishes. I liked the setup of the restaurant with a balance of inside and outside seating. Service was 3 stars, made even more amusing that the woman that did help us a bit over the dinner started off by saying "I won't be your server because she is busy doing something else right now, but I can get your drink order." My go-to Indian restaurant closed. I guess if I get a strong hankering, I would go back here. But just understand it will be like "Indian elements" thrown together to order rather than cuisine where every mouthful is a 30-second dance on your tongue because the spices are toasted and the base sauces are slow-cooked that from morning.
