Honestly El Hefe used to be one of the best known places to go and visit upon coming to Arizona. My girlfriends and I decided to stop there for our Bestfriend's bachelorette party. There was a guy at the front who said his name was Shane and that he was the manager so we followed him inside. Upon him walking us to our table, he pinched one (Christine a girl with us) on her but cheeks, not once but two times. Finally she told us and we complained to one of the security guards, and he was extremely apologetic and said he just started managing here a few weeks ago I am so sorry. Then 15 minutes later "Shane" came from the back and said you ladies have to leave. If that is any reflection of how this establishment is ran, then they need to reevaluate who they put in charge. Great spot for a quick drink! My friend and I ordered the green tea shooters and they were solid. I also loved the ambiance of El Here. We were there towards 10PM so it definitely got a lot more crowded and our seats got taken away because they had to leave more room for people. The service was a little slow, but it makes sense for a very crowded Saturday night. Overall great vibes and music, and I would return again! read more

Came here on the Sunday before Labor Day. Although it was packed, we were able to quickly find a seat at the bar. The music was really good and definitely appealed to multiple crowds. I ordered a margarita and it was a really nice size for the price. We also ordered the chips with guac and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was good. The guac was just okay, felt it needed more salt and lime. Overall a good experience. I was expecting less fast service considering it was a holiday weekend so I'm glad things moved swiftly. read more

El Hefe went through a recent remodel. However, it's basically the same place with a slight refresh of the Mexican theme decor. Riot Entertainment Group owns El Jefe, Riot House, and DB's Whiskey Row. They are Old Town Entertainment District tract clubs/bars like suburban tract housing. Basically the same music and same interior layout with a different coat of paint and theme. If the line is moving slow to get in at one of them, just go to the one of the others for the basic same nightlife experience. I hit the Scottsdale Old Town clubs regularly. El Hefe isn't a bad club. It's just a generic club. It's popular and usually packed on weekends. read more

El Hefe is a nightclub that is in the bar District in downtown Scottsdale. I went for a night out, and it took forever to be able to get a drink from rude bartenders that if you do not tip them accordingly, expect to wait over an hour for your next drink. It's crowded as expected since it is a nightclub-bar. The music was good it has a little bit of a moldy smell but I imagine so many drinks have fallen on that floor and they don't keep it up because they don't have enough maintenance cleaning up floor so it's sticky. We ended up getting a table and I know normally you pay a lot more for a bottle you could buy at BevMo for a lot cheaper but it's ridiculous what they wanted for it. Parking is horrible over there make sure that you pay attention where you're going to park if you don't want to get towed I'm not blaming them on that because that's just City of Scottsdale not having enough parking in that area. Bathrooms can be kept a little bit better, wet floors with I hope it's water but it's probably bodily fluids and there's just a lady in there handing paper towels instead of cleaning earning a tip not just because she's handing your nap and she expects you to give her a tip. read more

I never went to El Hefe before it was remodeled, but it's recent makeover makes it one of the most welcoming of the nightclubs in Old Town Scottsdale's entertainment district. It looks and feels clean and modern, with giant screen TV's playing the latest games (some diversity in the games being broadcast might be a suggestion!).  Employees are friendly. It's difficult to know when this place gets super packed. I've been a couple of times now since they re-opened in October. If a big game is playing, it will fill up early. If not, El Hefe seems to be a later stop for most on the club circuit (a recent Saturday night saw Bottled Blond much busier than El Hefe earlier in the evening).  Didi, one of the bartenders, is amazing! She's originally from New York and is great at connecting with guests. She mixed a Paradiso margarita for me (Casamigos reposado, real pineapple syrup, house made sour mix, and fresh lime juice) for $12. It was nice that it was more on the sour than the sweet side.  One of the highlights of the drink list is the 32 ounce Loaded Cocktails paired with a matching split (Diet starts Monday! LOL). I've tried the Picante Paloma (Patron Reposado, ancho reyes chile liqueur, lime juice, paired with a Fever-Tree Pink Grapefruit soda) and Frank's Mule (Belvedere vodka, domaine de canton ginger liqueur, real ginger puree, fresh lemon juice, paired with a Fever-Tree Ginger beer). Both cost $15 and are good options if the bar is super busy and you don't want to be constantly ordering another round.  Happy Hour is Tuesday-Friday from 4-7. Select tacos, appetizers, and some drinks are on offer. Taco Tuesday is from 4-9. El Hefe does have a weekend brunch menu that looks interesting with a Mexican-focused menu. read more

My husband and I popped in here for Happy Hour on a Thursday evening and had a great experience! Our bartender/server was SO attentive and made sure that we were totally taken care of. Our waters were never empty, we got extra chips for our queso when we were low, and our drinks were delicious! I ordered their cucumber/jalapeno margarita and it was so yummy! The perfect amount of kick. I tried my husband's house margarita as well and it was DELISH for a "house"! Typically they're too sour for me but this was perfectly balanced - so I ended up getting one for my second drink. We also indulged in tacos. I loved the beef taco! It was only $2 on happy hour, yes please! My husband tried their beef, shrimp, and fried avocado tacos and loved them all. We will absolutely be back another time! It would be a great place to watch football in the Fall because they have loads of TVs and great sound! It is nice visiting the Scottsdale "row" when there aren't crazy lines everywhere and it isn't busy. I guess this might mean that i'm "old" now? :) read more
