I usually get the enchillads here. It's a dish that's hard to mess up, however I decided to try something different on my last visit. Got the spicy chicken Diabla whatever. Now I absolutely love Mexican food, this dish was an absolute abomination and disgrace to Mexican food. The chicken. Was dry and the sauce tasted like ketchup with pepper in it. My lady got the street carne asada tacos and the meat was gray, and tasted like fish. We stopped here while traveling and I really wanted to like the place. I first noticed the lack of ventilation/air conditioning. It was 85 degrees outside and it felt like 95 in their little restaurant. . We were not greeted or even given a smile/nod. The staff did not seem happy to be working that day. Was passing through so I stopped here at 820pm. Ordered the macho burrito and the fajita quesadilla. When I got back to my hotel, no quesadilla was to be found. I suppose I should have checked before I left but still, you'd assume your food order to be correct. By the time I noticed they were already closed so no going back and I'm leaving early tomorrow. Great food in a nice quaint location. Service was quick and they were super helpful. I got the chimichanga and it was awesome.

The carne asada tacos were excellent! We were driving through from Utah and we usually stop at a fast food place but wanted to try something different. We'll definitely be back. The chips and salsa were great, I personally loved the salsa verde, it had a hint of lime and just enough kick, but not too much. The price is unbeatable. The service is friendly. My family got the macho burrito, enchiladas, and quesadilla. Everyone was happy. read more

This is a fun spot to stop in and grab a few beers to go with a pretty good selection of Mexican fare. The atmosphere is fun and authentic. Went there once , one of my relatives recommended the place , however I am used to Mexican food cooked in a certain way , I guess . So to me it all kinda felt like yeah ... that is nice, but somehow the same dish ,with the very same name tastes much better at Tres in American Falls. Best Mexican food I've had in a while! Our food came out SO quickly and the servers were helpful. Definitely try the fried ice cream for dessert. One important thing to know is when I asked the cashier how I was supposed to tip my server, she told me that they don't get any of their tips. The tip jar by the register goes entirely to the owners, as well as the tips that you add on to the receipt when paying with a credit card!! So if you want to tip your server, give it directly to her. read more

Can't beat the price. We had 6 adults and 4 kids eat for $45 pre-tip at dinner time. The food portions were plenty, even on the alacarte menu. Not the best Mexican food I have ever had and the hoechata was only so so, hence 4 stars. But can't complain. It's not the best Mexican in Pocatello. It's Mexican food that has been slightly toned down for the White man. This is great, and you may actually prefer it to Taqueria La Costa in Chubbuck. But for me, I'll shoot closer to the authentic mark with more bold flavors. read more

Oh yum! I love El Herradero. As long as we order corn tortillas, everything else is gluten free. Such a nice find in little old Pocatello. The food is delicious, always. The service is so friendly. Even if your server doesn't have a firm grasp of the English language, they always work very hard to understand your requests. The prices are phenomenal, normally I dislike going out to eat because of expenses but because this place is so inexpensive, I suggest it every time! Not to mention, their food is amazing!! We tried this place based on the great reviews. We thought our first experience must have been a fluke so we tried again, but at the other location. I guess we got two flukes. The first time we went to the Jefferson location. The food was just OK and mine tasted as though it had been brought just to the point of being burnt before it was caught. Portions were huge for the price, no complaints there. However the service wasn't good. Our drinks were never re-filled and our server couldn't have sounded more annoyed to be at work. It's a tiny little place, and it was darn near impossible to get his attention! The second time we tried the Arthur location. There was only one person working in the front although it was normal dinner hours (about 6:30). They were out of the first item I ordered, and there was no apology for it. The food did come out quick, but it was WAY over salted. As with the first location, our drinks were never re-filled and we were never checked on. Most of the tables were dirty, and it took us several tries to find a table that didn't have stuff spilled on it, yet the place wasn't busy at all. Additionally, there was a group of young guys (17-20-ish) who'd been there when we got there that were being loud and obnoxious and had been done with their dinner since before we arrived. They lounged all over the place and basically monopolized the tables around them even though all 4 of the sat at one table. I really felt they should have been asked to leave. I gave El Herradero two stars because it's fast and cheap, but I don't think we'll be going back any time soon. read more
