My husband and I like to walk around Valley mall to get our steps in with our kids. We stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to try them out. I ordered their menudo, chicken tamales, and asada burrito. The menudo is one of the best I've had in El monte. I've been on the hunt to find a great menudo spot. Their menudo does not contain hominy at all like the other places which is perfect for my keto diet. Next time I will try the menudo with the pata! Their chicken tamale is pricey, but huge compared to the other places. It's pretty good because the masa is not too thick. Some places makes it too dry. My niece liked it a lot. First time trying Doña Chela and it was amazing! Food was so good and everyone was so nice. They even put on a kids movie for my daughter. The inside is small, but they do have two sides to the restaurant. Cafe de Olla was sweet but that's how I like it. Horchata was really. Ham and eggs were great. We tried the tamale de pollo and the flavor was great. But my FAVS were the Super Chilaquiles rojos. So so good! And the Huarache de Mole was also just as good! My coworkers had the wet burrito (carnitas ) and it was big. The prices here are reasonable, and the owner was very nice. He recommended we try the chilaquiles soon, and I will definitely be back. Great find! We had to do an errand nearby and wanted some good local food for breakfast. We found Doña Chela - A cozy hole in the wall. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and courtesy. We were looking at the menu on the board but were quickly attended to and got to sit down where we wanted and they explained their specialties. They have delicious Cafe de la Olla and we got to try some chips with delicious homemade salsa as our starter. I got huevos rancheros and my boyfriend ordered the generous in size wet burrito with carne asada (steak). The food came out fast and hot!
