I've been renting a house in St. George Island and found this place on Yelp. I've been coming for the past several days and the Breakfast is phenomenal! I haven't had the lunch or dinner but I'm positive it would be just as delicious. The staff is all very friendly and you can tell they all love there jobs. Very clean too!! Possibly the best Mexican food I have ever had. I had a taco combo plate which had several choices of meat. We had a great waiter who was very attentive and helpful. Not having been there before , I asked our waiter which tacos he would recommend. He suggested trying the beef birria for at least a couple of the tacos. He did not disappoint on that recommendation! It was fantastic as was the rest of the meal. We made it a point to go back again that week just to get another plate of the birria tacos. They are also open late so it a win win for us. I have been going to El Jalisco in Tallahassee - the one in Killearn and the one on Monroe - for years. I have always had excellent food and great service. Well I went to the one in Eastpoint, Fl today and neither was the case. We went there for breakfast but it took so long for the food to arrive that a little after 11am I requested chips and salsa because I was starving. I was told by a waiter and then the manager that chips and salsa did not come with breakfast. But yet they had just served other tables with the traditional complimentary chips and salsa. I offered to pay for them and they still refused. It was ridiculous and they were rude. Needless to say neither me nor my friends will go back. Other El Jalisco franchise owners should let that location management know that they are hurting what is locally a well respected brand. read more

I had a beef burrito and it was pretty tasty. Nothing out of this world, but not a bad burrito. We felt rushed during our meal by the waiter. They have 2 for 1 margaritas, however, I'm pretty sure it was a slight drop of tequila and 20 ozs of margarita mix. If you are in the area and must have Mexican night it's probably a good spot, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here though. read more

We got into town on a Sunday evening and El Jalisco was recommended by a friend. There is not much open in town on a Sunday evening but this place hit the spot. It was busy but the service was very good. Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen but this place was better than your average Mexican restaurant. The food tasted fresher and more substantial than most Mexican restaurants I've been to. The chips and salsa were excellent and plentiful.I had the Quesadilla Tapatio. It was awesome. Are lunch here today and was very disappointed in the service couldn't get refills of water or chips. He just disappeared never came back had to go ask to get the bill. Very slow for breakfast, maybe because they totally got our order wrong (food brought that was completely unrelated to what we ordered). Then started over on another long wait. No attention from the staff after what would be considered a catastrophe at most restaurants. No explanation about the disappearance of everyone and not even drink refills. But Apalachicola area is extremely Anti-breakfast. Had to cross the 7 mile bridge to even be offered any chance at breakfast. (Then only at a Mexican restaurant). What's up with that? The Gibson Hotel (very expensive) had no breakfast, and no suggestions. Doesn't Apalachicola know this is part of the reasonable expectations of the ordinary tourist? The night before I called restaurant after restaurant trying to find one with breakfast. Nothing. Here, we eventually had to get up and look for someone (45 minutes seemed excessive). We have been there, I think three times. We come through the area once a year on our travels South. I am a big Mole' fan, and the Mole' at Jalisco is very good. I tried the Enchiladas mole' and the sauce was dark and rich, just the way I like it. Also tried the Chicken Mole', also very good. My wife also liked her food, and said Margaritas were great! Our only complaint was, and I think it has been previously mentioned, the water left much to be desired. Also, twice we got a server ( same one I think) with a language barrier that was hard to overcome, if you have specific instructions or requests. If we stuck to the menu with him he was great. Other wait staff was great. All in all it was very good and four stars was only because of the minor things I have mentioned. The food and price was 5 stars for sure. I have always loved El J's from Panama City to Tallahassee but this was the worst experience I have ever had at one of their locations. 6 workers just hanging out at the bar playing around. 15 minutes into us being seated I finally went and asked politely who would be our server. He came over with quite the attitude because I had interrupted them. The queso was like white water and the chips tasted stale but what truly upset me was the service. This place serves a big breakfast. Considering it is located in a very small town, the place was packed. This is always a good sign the food is great and it was. The vegetables in the omelette were grilled with perfection adding to the flavor. The hash browns were soft on the inside but golden brown on the outside. The waitress was friendly and breakfast was served in a timely matter. There was plenty of jelly, butter, cream, sugar and syrup and ketchup on the table and our coffee cup was always full. I loved that they had several combination breakfast options with sweet/salty combos. Too bad they are to far to make this a regular stop. read more
