Let me start by mentioning this review falls on management alone, I didn't have the pleasure or dissatisfaction of trying their food. I arrived around 12:20 pm I tried to order a breakfast plate and the waitress informed me "they do not serve eggs after 12 noon" I was surprised because most of the Mexican restaurants do serve breakfast all day and the ones that don't, have it written clearly on the door or menu "breakfast serve until 12" or what ever... I asked the waitress if she could ask the cooks to make a breakfast plate.... The answer was "we get in trouble when we ask" and the reason was "they can not have eggs outside the fridge after 12 because they could get in troubles if the city inspector visits" lmao I respectfully walked out and went to their competition across the street LOL btw what a good breakfast they have! ‍ thanks. read more

A hidden gem, this restaurant is unassuming from the outside but has colorful, charming decorations inside. There is a wide selection of options to choose from, including dishes that may be both familiar and unfamiliar. The complimentary salsa is a little spicier than a lot of other Mexican restaurants, which can be a pro or con depending on your tastes! read more

This was my first time here.. great customer service and very fast even though it was busy.. Food was no good at all.. burnt and dry steak and lacking flavor that came with rice and cheese enchilada.. The fajita plates that includes shrimp, beef and chicken was also bland.. My son plate was pancake and eggs.. pancake was not cooked all way.. his only 3 but knew it wasn't good and did not eat it at all. I love Mexican food because it has so much flavor but this place did not meet the expectation.. There's a few Mexican restaurant here in San Antonio that's way better than this so this will probably the last time I'll be here.. read more

Visited this far west side taqueria today for the second time for some Mexican breakfast. Three things I normally consider for a place like this to have good Mexican breakfast are: flavorful tortillas, good beans, and fresh and tasty salsas and ranchera sauce. Everything else to me is understood to fluctuate depending on the cooks or the busy-ness of the day. Sometimes the eggs might be overcooked, the coffee might be burnt or weak, or the barbacoa might be a little greasy or fatty. I get that, but the tortillas, beans, and salsas need to be on point. I personally enjoyed the breakfast both times I ate at Jalisco Grill. Both times I ordered the huevos rancheros with no potatoes and double beans. Both times the plates were plentiful: two eggs were fluffy and covered half the plate, the beans were flavorful, and the tortillas were thick and tasted the way they should. The ranchera sauce was watery on both occasions, but at least the taste was where it should be. My main issue with the place is the service and friendliness of the staff. Both times I visited i was ignored when i entered (no hostess) and sat for a good 5-10 mins before being acknowledged. When I walked up to pay, the lady behind the register disappeared and I was left standing there for a couple mins. another lady came to charge me. The servers never smile or act friendly. It's all transactional and a task to them. A simple Hi, welcome to our restaurant, how are you doing, etc. go a long way. Maybe I ask too much from servers, but that's what makes a visit an experience. read more

This was my first visit to Jalisco Grill after running some errands. Needed something to hold me over until lunch. Upon entering I noticed a clean, colorful, festive decor. There were a good number of tables for diners eating in. I walked up and took a look at their menu. I just wanted a few breakfast tacos and I saw they had a good deal on their breakfast tacos where you could get a number of varieties three for $2.99. The only catch is you can't mix up the kinds of tacos. I chose three bacon and egg tacos. I took it to go and took a few minutes to get home. I was so happy to feel how hot the bag was when I got home, and even more happy when I saw how filled they were. The bacon was cut up into bits as opposed to whole slice bacon like in many other places. There was a ton of egg in each taco that was cooked well and had a nice flavor. In fact there was so much egg I only had two that way I would be hungry when lunch time came around. They gave two small containers of green and red salsa. As usual I preferred the green. It had a good flavor and some heat to it. But it was of a creamy consistency as opposed to a chunky one (which I prefer). Looking forward to trying their other tacos and plate dishes. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise and good find for me. Their horchata game is on point. This horchata gives a pleasant sweet taste in your mouth, and I'm addicted. They have a good amount of seating, and they have a little bit of everything on their menu. I ordered to go and got a torta. It was little pricey torta wise, but they packed the meat and put some big juicy tomatoes on their and the bread was perfect. read more

Went during less busier hours. Ordered 3 Bean and Bacon tacos, 2 beef fajita tacos Plus drinks. The straws that came with the cups were too small and sank into the cup. The beans were good, albeit a bit strange as they have a red hue (possibly a traditional method or something). However, the beef fajita tacos were heavily burnt and inedible. Hard as rocks. The server was also absent about 90% of the time we were there, a tad rude if I might add. If I had the opportunity to stop here, I would run away from the place. Came here with my family for dinner since we were too tired to cook My grandparents wanted caldo de Rez and they were out, I ordered a taco salad and got a regular salad instead but they fixed it right away. We then ordered two parrillada plates and they came with plenty of meat, chicken and shrimp. We were joined by two more family members and one had a taco while the other had a plate. It "seemed" that they made the taco first, and then left it waiting for the plate since when we got it it was cold. The salsas were good. cashier and waitress friendly. Our family of 4 gringos loved it. The shrimp cocktail was delicious. We had the enchiladas verde, asada street tacos, beef burrito, and al pastor burrito jalisco. Everyone was extremely satisfied with their meals & FULL. The portions were huge & the price was right. $47 for 4 entrees, 1 appetizer, 4 drinks and 2 Mexican pastries. My first time here I ordered the mini tacos de asada and they were so very dry and chewy...very disappointed...:(

On this brisk cool morning 17 October 18 at around 9:30 AM As I walked in there was a light crowd in the restaurant. I was handed a menu and I ordered an Omelette plate with some corn tortillas on the side. I was served my Order within 10 minutes. I grabbed my fork dug right into the center of that omelette and was pleasantly surprised with the warm amount of cheesy ingredients. I forked over to serving of potatoes and was completely disappointed with the cool old taste of those papas. Although the refries were warm and pleasant to the taste. Simply said my breakfast order was a disappointment this morning. And then just know that for a fact that has nothing to do with the wait staff who are always friendly and welcoming. Sadly said...just no pride in with the cooking staff on this cool morning. Perhaps on my next visit I'll taste the potatoes FIRST for an appropriate temperature. They have yummy food, and the horchata is on point! One thing I didn't like was that as soon as I walked in I had no idea what to do. There isn't a hostess and so I stood in this line only to be told to pick a seat. Wasnt too happy about that since I was on my lunch break and short on time. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. The lengua mini tacos were huge pieces of tasteless lengua, the carne asada mini tacos were also tasteless, my chicken fajitas were horrible, the rice was horrible, the beans were sub par, the salad looked expired, I didn't even touch it, the green chile on my enchiladas was ok because it came from a can, and it was a complete waste of money. I really enjoy coming here with my family. The chips and salsa are great, they are open till 10 (I think.. could be 10:30) which is perfect for my busy family. We always want Mexican food after church but would rather go to a family, home cooked place with a quiet atmosphere rather than a busy, expensive establishment. We got the puffy tacos and Chile relleno. Beans were tasteless and under seasoned. The lettuce and tomato were on the verge of going bad and I had rotten pieces of lettuce. The chips and salsa were ok. Puffy taco was falling apart from the moment he picked it up. The rice was OK but lots of chunks in it where it seemed to have sat under a hot plate for a while. Chile relleno was just a pile of sloppy mush. The meat was a bit bland but OK on the inside if the relleno. Won't be going back. The place felt generally unclean though the waitresses did seem to be cleaning. Was an OK price but for the quality was unacceptable. read more
