When u say this is by far one of the best authentic Mexican food restaurants in south Florida it literally is. I came here and ordered and assortment of items from brunch nachos to brunch tacos. It was all delicious and their taco salad is so yummy and can feed 2-3 people the salad bowl is so yummy and filling! The speciality tacos especially the Wagyu taco and the burger taco were delicious the sauce in the burger taco was delicious and it have a crunchy taco inside the soft taco. I loves the ambiance and the wrestling masks on the wall it's a very relaxed environment where you can come with friends family or kids. Hmmmm...this is a place that my wife and I really wanted to love, but I think you'll just have to try it and make up your own mind. If you've only lived in south Florida, then you'll probably love everything here. As I've mentioned in many other reviews of Mexican restaurants, once you've lived near the Mexican border, or in a city like Chicago with 1,000,000+ Mexicans...your expectations when it comes to Mexican food go way up. So let's mention the positives first...great service (speedy and very friendly) and very clean. What didn't convince me...every time I've been here the tacos are room temperature. I like tacos with the meat freshly cooked and hot. The tortillas have a good flavor but they fall apart with your first bite. Lastly, the flavor of the different meats, in my opinion, is only ok. The al pastor has huge chunks of pineapple instead of larger portions of meat with small bits of pineapple. The shrimp is ok, the lamb barbacoa was ok, and the Korean fried chicken is probably their best taco. The saving grace on the food is that it's filling. At $4-$5 per taco...I say roll the dice and you decide if this is your kind of Mexican food. You will easily spend $20/pp for lunch. read more

I didn't know exactly what to expect when coming here I had read some good reviews and thought it could defintely hit the spot on Cinco de Mayo sadly I was disappointed. The service was alright you order at the counter and wait to be called. The food however was flavorless, no seasoning what so ever. The steak on the tacos was so basic and bland. The chicken in the quesadilla was over cooked (some pieces burnt) yet somehow slimey. I was left with this taste in my mouth that would not go away. I also felt that paying $4 for these tacos was somehow a rip off they were not worth it. The decorations of the restaurant were alright however when I was leaving I lifted up my bag and saw a dead roach on the chair. Safe to say I couldn't wait to leave. We came for lunch and even though it was a bit later, they were still busy busy. You order and pay at the counter and they call your name when it's ready. You pick up your food there and drinks are self serve. We each ordered two different tacos. He ordered pulled pork and brisket; I ordered chicken (pollo asado) and steak (carne asado). I asked for mine to be without onions. We stopped by the sauce bar and he chose spicy hot. We got medium and mild sauces for me to try as well as a small cup of lime wedges. Since both plates looked the same, we assumed she'd put them on the tray how we'd ordered. He poured his spicy hot sauce sauce over everything. I gingerly dipped into each sauce -- just to try. The medium was peppery and still too spicy for me. The green mild sauce was okay -- and I did use it -- but not my favorite. After a few bites, I noticed the chopped onion pieces in my taco. I said, this doesn't taste like chicken. Too funny! Not realizing it, we'd switched orders. And since he'd put hot sauce on everything already, we could not switch back. Oh well. I think the pulled pork and brisket were much better choices than the steak (a bit tough) -- although they tasted exactly like each other. And I had to pick out the onions. He also got a side of beans and rice. Since this is a Mexican restaurant, the beans were brown refried ones. They don't look very appetizing, but he said they tasted fine. It's definitely an inexpensive place to have lunch. But those with a hearty appetite might still find themselves hungry -- the street tacos are small. We visited this place thanks to Yelp recommendation and I'm glad we did. We had few different items and all of them were very good. I love that they have vegan options including vegan cheese (based on the flavor I think it's Dayia). I had their vegan burrito with nopales, my husband had 3 different tacos and one empanada, he liked all of them equally. He also got a churro for dessert which was hot and crunchy. Delicious. My burrito was filling and very tasty, I like that they have ancient rice blend and not just bland white or brown. Overall this was a pleasant find. We pivoted from Baja to this place! Its small, clean, friendly. The menu is mostly individual items, most $3.5 to $5. Best thing: Korean Taco and Saddest was the corn. To be fair...the flavor was there, but zero char on corn. Corn was boiled, never hit a grill. Street corn is supposed to have a char. They had Latin drinks, Mexican coke. The green sauce is bomb, the red was spicy. There are no combos or platters so its less formal than Taxi Cab or Baja. I saw a ln entire table get the BOWL. The bowl and salad seem to be the best value $10. It's about $5 per item, 3 items = 15 per person. So its no a cheap lunch but the service was speedy, taste was there. The chips and quedo was average. $4 with a little cheese, no scallions, no drizzle of anything. I think the presentation was a bit plain. Wish the management would take care in the CORN. Dont post photos that aren't truly what's offered. I'm really frustrated with staged or phony photos from their friends or them but the food doesn't look like the photos. So far I've gotten the whole vegan menu except for the tacos!! They're burrito, quesadillas and nachos are my favorite. I was still hungry after the Mexican quesadillas. This is THE PLACE to come to if your craving Mexican food and if the people your coming with is not vegan. I've gone here 5x now and without realizing it, I went 5x in April at least ONCE A WEEK. You order at the counter and since it was later there was no wait. The staff was helpful answering our questions about the menu and provided recommendations. However since it was taco Tuesday, we went with the 3 taco combo-you choose from their non-specialty tacos. We selected Al Pastor, Pulled Pork, and Barbacoa with a side of chips and queso -topped off with a Jaimica agua Fresca and pina jarrito. They have a salsa bar to top your tacos - green, red, spicy and more. The tacos were all super flavorful but my favorite was the pulled pork and my hubs liked the Al pastor. Walking into this place reminded me of the movie Nacho Libre with all the wresting masks hanging on the wall but I was down for it. A hardcore street food joint serving pretty authentic Mexican. My husband and I ended up here after waiting an hour for a table down at the Cove. Counter style ordering, we walked up and were taken care of promptly. We ordered two flour tortilla tacos each and chips with queso to share. If I am having Mexican and Jarritos are available, you can bet I'm getting mandarin flavor. I have wanted to try El Jefe Luchador ever since I found it was the creation of Mile Saperstein and his partner Evan David, the duo behind Charm City Burgers. After conquering the burger world with Charm City the guys were looking for their next restaurant project and decided to tap into their love of authentic Mexican food. This fast casual Mexican street food restaurant is actually very close to Charm City. The restaurant is decorated with Luchador libre wrestling masks and colorful seats. Saperstein and Evan thought a playful Mexican wrestler theme paired well with their food. There were signs up explaining that the restaurant was being renovated so I guess they are in the middle of a refurbishment. El Jefe Luchador has now expanded to a second location in Boca Towncenter. At El Jefe you order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. You pick a protein and a taco shell and it gets topped with tomato, onion, lime, cilantro, and queso blanco. I ordered three hard tacos, beef brisket, steak, and braised pork with pineapple. You can top your order with additional sauce from the salsa bar. I just went with a squeeze of lime. The tacos are street tacos which means they are small. Three tacos and a drink was $12 and I was still hungry after. The taco shells tasted burnt. The pork was my favorite followed by the brisket. The steak was not good. The people who work here aren't very friendly. Some of them just openly stared at me. Oh well, I tried it. Saperstein and Evans also created the Gastropub Rebel House in Deerfield Beach but they have recently sold it off. My curiosity about this place has been sufficiently satisfied. read more

Love this place! The Food has been as good as my first visit. Because of Covid concerns I have been doing takeout and using the drive up window. Safe & easy and I don't have to go inside until Covid restrictions get lifted. I have been doing the carnitas bowl with extra tortillas over the last year. They hold up the best for home eating. You can't go wrong. Tacos are my favorite but they don't hold up well for takeout so I have been ordering the bowls and preparing my own tacos at home. Ask for extra tortillas! My mom and I were starving after a day at the beach and decided to try a new off the beat taco place. After entering the restaurant, there was adequate distant seating for covid. We ordered a pork belly taco and a grilled shrimp taco. Moving into my review, I found that our wait time was a bit long, but both tacos had a nice flavor. The shrimp taco was both spicy and sweet which contrasted very well to the grilled shrimp. The pork taco had a tasty salsa sauce to it, but the amount of pork compared to the shrimp was smaller and not as tender. Moreover, both tacos were around the pricy side costing around $10.
