Coming from San Diego (the land of birria tacos it seems) this place is awesome. When I got to Phoenix it was first on my list to do: get birria tacos. This place is quite unassuming. The large sign that says 'tacos and sushi' seems a little suspicious - in fact I almost left the parking lot because how could great birria be combined with a restaurant that also does an entirely different cuisine? Turns out my initially hesitant feeling was wrong - the birria is great! Lots of flavor, meat wasn't fatty or gross, and the consume was good. They give you a large order of chips for your salsas too. There's a big indoor seating area and there's an outdoor seating area too. It's worth a shot! read more

I'm kinda glad I didn't write this review when first going to this place because I really enjoyed my first meal here. Oh, have things changed.... (See photos) First photo: Believe it or not, this was a carne asada burrito. You may be thinking, "no way, that's a vegetarian burrito" but you'd be wrong, good sir. They consider this carne asada. (Disclaimer: absolutely zero cows were harmed, nor ever in danger, while this burrito was being made) Second photo-based recommendation: if you are thinking about ordering any taquitos here, save your money. Instead, go to Walmart, buy some Jose Olé, throw them in your oven, and cook them poorly. But whatever you do, make damn sure not to add any toppings of substance. Maybe a tomato chunk or some random lettuce strands but under no circumstances should you add anything flavorful....DEFINITELY not cheese! Maybe it's the location of the place but it was surprisingly very dead during dinner time. Mexican food wise was pretty good! They have Quesabirria Tacos and it was good, but one side of the tortilla was wet so it wasn't as crispy anymore. We also got asada fries and street tacos. They don't have a salsa station so it comes in small containers. It's interesting that they also offer sushi, but we didn't try any. read more

Idk if it's bc I got take out that my food was subpar, but I had high hopes for this place based on reviews. The sushi Vegas roll description said it contained crab mix, but they just stuck a piece of crab in it, not the mix. The roll was practically all rice and the tiniest sliver of salmon. The quesabirria had very little meat in it compared to other places and the consomé was pretty bland. I will say my order was ready pretty fast and the salsa was good. The egg was and steak was overcooked and they get you by charging for everything that they put inside the burrito so watch out ! This local taco shop is a hidden gem! So delicious and so much food! Definitely a good value. Typically a lot of places don't give a lot of meat, but this place piles it on. I got the small jefe nachos and it is what I consider large. I cant imagine what a large looks like. If you look at my picture it filled the whole platter! Again they weren't shy with the amount of meat provided. Another huge plus is they douse the nachos with cheese. I had cheese on every chip, which is rare at other places. In addition to the nachos, I got 3 al pastor street tacos. Again that didn't disappoint. A LOT of tasty tangy meat. Next time I'd like to try the birria tacos which comes with a dipping sauce. Me and a buddy went in, ordered tacos and a sushi roll to go, when my food came out the bag was stapled shut but felt super light. I opened my bag right there to find out my sushi roll was not in there, no big deal we're human. I tell them and they start making it, less than 1 minute later my roll is ready somehow. That should have been my red flag. I get home to find my tacos had no cilantro and no cabbage like I asked for, and maybe a table spoon of meat if that on each taco. As for my sushi that was thrown together, the pieces were falling apart as I tried to pick them up and it was warm as if it was sitting out or something. Nasty and falling apart. I'll be honest walking inside I was a little nervous. The restaurant looks like it's still being completed and there's two in the building so depending on which one you're ordering from you'll speak to different people. Both were super friendly. Sorry for the bad quality photos but let's talk about the food. The carne asada fries were amazing every bite was loaded they did not skimp when it came to the toppings. Probably the best I've ever had. The birria tacos were yummy the consume was alright I've had better I was missing the onions peppers and cilantro. The quesotaco was cheesy and hot the spot. The green salsa they serve is good enough to drink. If they sold it buy the bottle I would definitely buy it. The guy serving us was really friendly. Wanted something other than a boring chain restaurant and we found it! The chips, queso and salsa was delicious and way better than any chains. The chips were fresh and crispy, the employees are super nice and cosiderate, tried the Baja shrimp tacos. So fresh and tasty. The lime and chipotle sauce are both so good, I tried them both and can't choose just one! The manager and owner came over and talked to us and. Found out they are not a chain. Woot woot! They are very passionate about the food and it's very innovative. I had sushi for the first time I've always been turned off by the thought of raw fish... been missing out! I tried the seared salmon "chefs favorite " I tried one with raw fish, it tasted so good! my favorite, had a nice crunch when you bit into it and a delicate thin slice of lime on top and yellow tail. Needed to find a spot open late that sells tacos and found this place. My friend an I walked in Saturday night around 1am. First the restaurant layout is so beautiful. 2nd the menu has a variety of options! We stood there for 10 minutes trying to decide what we wanted. We opted on the quesabirria and the asada tacos. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and assisted with any questions we had and they made it clear they were there to help us. We received some guidance on the tacos and were recommended the birria, which my husband got, and I had 1 pastor taco, 1 carne asada, and 1 fried fish taco w/ cilantro lime dressing. We had El Jefe Box and 4 Street Tacos which were too much for two people (just take the box even if you are very hungry:)). I think the food was tasty though I am no expert in this area. The place looks kind of like a school cafeteria imo. The server was nice, though her saying that carnitas are made of pork was a bit insulting for me. Just because we looked middle eastern (non-hispanic brunettes) to her doesn't mean that we should be practicing muslims.
