The foosd is amazing, definitely a 5 star but the service is horrible from the host to the waitress. The girl on the front was just completely rude. When we asked for a table for two she just gave me a paper and said, "write your name" and left. No smile, no greeting, nothing just a straight face of fatigue. Now our waitress, When I asked for recommendations because it was our first time in this restaurant she was just like, "oh" Anyways to make things worst after waiting for our check for more than 20 min I asked the boy picking up the drinks to please called our waitress. Long story short she never came to our table. I had to get up and go to the front were she was talking to the other girl on the front. Service is horrible. Service deserves a 0 star but since food was really good I'm giving it a 3 star. Prices are reasonable. read more

Not very good -- wouldn't recommend. Came in from out of town and ordered cheese dip and it tasted like they just melted shredded cheese and charged $8. I then got a taco salad, which was mediocre. My friend got chicken enchiladas and the chicken had to have been canned chicken. The service was awesome, but the food fell short for us. Food is delicious here. My order the season coconut and I ordered the seafood molcajete, both are suculent. Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for fresh seafood in the valley. The ambiance noise is a little loud if the place is crowded, but the service is top notch even at their busiest. read more

Probably some of my favorite Mexican food in the country! I'm from Missouri, so not like I have tons to compare to, but this place is delicious. Generous portions, excellent selection of margaritas, free flowing chips and salsa, and a really fun atmosphere. The menu is HUGE. So much selection, I think I could eat here every night for a month and not have the same thing twice. I had such a hard time deciding but was happy with Korita's Special: three different seafood options with rice and beans (fish taco, ceviche tostada, shrimp enchilada). Rounded out the meal with a Skinny Margarita (although I don't think it was all that skinny...) and would totally recommend it. So I have been here a few times over the years and the last two visits were so bad I forgot to review it. I have to say I NEVER choose to come here, it's always other family members and they know how I feel about the food. Service is great and on par with medium sized Mexican restaurants so no complaints there, and you are pretty much always able to get a table, the place is really big. But the food is constantly really sub-par for Mexican food in the Valley, The Mole is just plain awful, the chicken in the Mole was a beaten flat piece of breast meat, that was the last time I came. But last night I ended up going again :( I had two beef tacos and a fish taco, they were terrible. The fish was flat and limp the Corn tacos were rubbery and cheap, I mean just the cheapest ingredients it was really not good, I remember not ascertaining any flavor, my 4 year old had rice and beans and he threw up in the middle of the night and he never throws up. The Margaritas were sweet and cheap tasting but strong. Pretty much the worst Mexican food in the valley in the 5 years of living here. Lowest quality and super overpriced, people come here for the fish dishes, good luck with that!!!!!!!! Was looking for the BBQ place that was highly ranked, but learned they had closed a few weeks before. Were seated relatively quickly for a Saturday night. But... it took forever for them to get chips to us and take our drink order. We went ahead and ordered our entrees when ordering drinks. Our entrees arrived well before our drinks did. The waiter gave a couple other tables a lot of attention, but didn't pay much attention to us. Took forever. Food was a little unconventional, not bad, but we've never seen enchiladas or chimichangas prepared that way before. read more

Good food, but service painfully slow. We have been there several times always slow service. They actually ignore you. First drink order takes 30 minutes. When you get your drink they never come back to take food order. You have to ask for more chips while you wait with no chips, no salsa no drink. Will not go back there. read more

ALERT: seafood soup caused FOOD POISONING Seafood soup tasted awesome. Later that night I had food poisoning so bad I wanted to die. Now when I think about the taste of that soup it was the taste of throwing it up. I know it was the soup that did it because that was the only think different that day that my wife and I ate. Popular Mexican restaurant in Basalt with great Margaritas, good, fresh Mexican food at a reasonable price point. Place was packed when we went but despite this the service was excellent and efficient. In addition to attentive waiters, there seem to be other employees who simply walk around to help out, take orders, and anything else you might need if your waiter is tied up elsewhere. We tried the enchiladas, mole, and burrito and everything was quite good. Probably wouldn't be able to call it the best Mexican food I've ever had but certainly lived up to our expectations after hearing it was a good spot. Would definitely recommend. read more

One word: Bleh. Located in a hip "urban" shopping center, this Mexican restaurant showed a lot of promise. The menu was diverse with a good mix of seafood and meats, and classic Mexican staples like enchiladas and pork carnitas. I really wanted to try the ceviche, but I tend to turn beet red after eating shrimp, so I went with the pork carnitas. We ordered our food...and then the waiting game began. I'm pretty sure we sat for 45 minutes before our food came out, and when it did arrive, it was delivered by the grinch who stole dinner. She couldn't be any more unpleasant, and apparently she didn't want to see me either, because that was the last we saw of her. We finished up dinner and waited another 20 minutes to get our check. Total running time at this restaurant was about 2.5 hours. We didn't order anything special and we didn't have drinks. Next time, I'll drive to Aspen for dinner. read more

Good food but terrible service. They are so busy they really don't care about the patrons. We recently went there for my birthday. the chips and salsa hit the table quickly. we placed a drink order including water for everyone 5 minutes passed. we had finished our salsa and chips and really needed a drink. we requested drinks again. I finally had to get up and steal a caraf of water. the arrogant staff treated us terribly and at no point after asked us if we needed anything. Good food is only half the game. I'm a Mexican and I expect good Mexican food. The Birria was very disappointing. When i was "done" the server asked if I had not liked the Birria I said no. He was very upset about it that when he was picking up our tortilla trays he smashed them. I don't know why he was so upset. He wasn't the one who made the Birria. I was very disappointed with how cold my tortillas were. I know this is a very popular place, and it has very delicious dishes. I know it gets lots of customers. The first time we came here we didn't have a very good experience but we decided to give it another shot and were disappointed to find it was the same. Food is bland and not very good, it's not authentic at all. The staff is very nice, but our waiters changed frequently (we had at least 4 during our meal). We couldn't tell anyone that our orders were incorrect, or that we needed silverware, and refills on our drinks because no one came to check on us, or grab the check at the end of our meal. Terrible service! Couldn't decide between two dishes. Finally picked one. When the food arrived I did not like the way it was prepared. Spoke wIth the waiter to see if I change to the other dish. I had only taken two bites of the food before alerting the staff. The waitress said if I gotten the other dish I'd have to pay for both. I did not agree with that. The manager was called. He restated the same. There was no other option or solution for my issue. Got the second dish and ended up paying for both. Not to mention the second was worst than the first. Our group of six made the trip from Aspen to Basalt just to eat at El Korita, and for a bunch of Texans to rave about Mexican food in Colorado, you know it has to be good! We started with house Margaritas, which were excellent--not too sweet and with a decent amount of tequila in them. We began with truly outstanding guacamole and what I would call queso flameado with chorizo (which lacked only tortillas). Our dinner selections ranged from shrimp fajitas to soft beef tacos, and just about everything in between. Every single dish was fantastic! The food here is fantastic. I'm not sure if I can even compare it to most Mexican places, it's unique and absolutely delicious. I've tried a few different things but constantly come back for the "hot pineapple" and the "grilled seafood". One is a creamy/cheesy base and one is a spicy tomato base. So much food and sooooo good. Stopped by here after my friend wouldn't shut up about the place. Got there around 8:30pm on a Friday night. Expected it to be busy and maybe have to wait, but it was not long at all. Took a seat on the patio as it was a nice night and promptly ordered margaritas. I got the 'perfect margarita' with silver tequila. Delicious (it was around $8, but to be expected). I'd have to compare their strength and taste with Rio. Not quite as big but certainly did the trick. My limit would have been 3 for sure. Our server didn't return for another 15 min but there were some big parties inside so we didn't think too much of it. She returned, we got another round, and placed the food order. Despite my buddy telling me they were big portion sizes, I went ahead and ordered the open face enchilada. I was like, it's $10, how big can it be?? Holy crap, when this thing arrived I swear a baby had been laid on the table. But the taste, oh the sweet, real mexican taste; and not the tex-mex junk. Their carnitas were prepared how locals do in my area. So amazing! I of course didn't even get 1/3 of it down before we had to ask for boxes. Most of our tab was from the drinks, but hey, it was a darn good time! While the service wasn't top notch, the food and drinks make up for that 10 fold. read more

Been to El Korita a hand full of times and each time we have had issues with the service. Food is satisfying and well portioned but being a restauranteur myself I cannot stress how important service elements are to a business. Slow service and we never get checked back on. This past visit all but one plate came out cold. We decided to send back the food after 5 minutes of trying to get someone's attention and then when we went to pay our bill they tell us no discount would be given even though we didn't eat any of it.
