Great service and wonderful food! Within a few minutes of sitting down we had a few people check in on us to make sure we got some drinks started. We got the molcajete and split between me and my husband and it was delicious. So was their salsa, especially the Salsa Verde. Awful service. I ordered my food, and proceeded to wait 45 minutes, being completely ignored. I finally went up to the counter (I was sitting directly in front of them, by the way; I wasn't tucked in some corner) to be told that they had a "computer issue," and my order hadn't even been entered. Okay, fine, these things happen. But, did you even care to notice that the woman sitting directly, and I mean DIRECTLY, in front of you hasn't been served? And it obviously didn't cross your mind to check on her and make sure she wasn't one of the customers whose order had an issue?! I get that glitches happen, but it was the utter lack of service that sealed it for me. I left without having them re-enter my order, and I won't be back. read more

I still love this place, but I have to take off a star for lack of consistency. I come here often because I crave the trio of dips and the chicken tortilla soup. But the quality of the soup varies every time. This time it was slightly oily and didn't have enough salt or chicken. Once they forgot the cheese and sour cream. Things like that. The chili verde has been phenomenal, but 2 out of 3 times. Consistency-wise, they deserve 4 stars, but it kind of hurts me to do it. It's not going to stop me from coming here all the time however. They are an awesome family, and if you don't like something, they will make it right. read more

My family stopped here on our road trip today 5/23/17 for a late lunch, I am so glad we did! On past road trips, 9/10 times the food we ate were expensive and garbage. The food here is slightly pricier than what I'm used to, but it was so worth the price. I really appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa and decried beans we were served as soon as we sat down. My dad had a mole chicken burrito, my mom wanted taquitos but they're made with flour tortillas (she's gluten intolerant) and was able to make a plate out of the flauta appetizer. I ordered chicken fajitas, both my parents had piña agua fresca and Jamaica. I had sips from both their drinks, they were so refreshing and had the right amount of sweetness. The chicken for my fajitas was so flavorful and juicy. All of our servings were huge, you definitely get your money's worth. The woman with the blonde hair and green eyes was so sweet and I was impressed that her Spanish is better than mine, LOL! My family had an excellent experience. read more

You know you are in a good Mexican restaurant when you are pretty much the only person that doesn't speak Spanish in sight...at least that's my yard stick. I was impressed with El Molcajete from the minute I walked into the joint. Clean, well organized, with a straightforward menu (with photos should you have any doubts) I was greeted politely and invited to order. I selected a taco and enchilada combo. Spot on! The red sauce for the shredded chicken enchilada was truly delicious. Subtle flavors in the sauce allowed the quality of the shredded chicken to come through. It wasn't an attempt to mask poorly flavored or dry chicken. The flavors came together nicely and created an opportunity to really sink into what was going on. The shredded beef taco was moist and pleasantly spicy without being soupy. While I am no expert, I believe the tortillas were homemade based on the size, texture, and all around "give me more-ness!" Note that the 3 salsas you get along with the chips they welcome you with are no joke! The bean dip is habit forming and the red and green salsas are fresh and delectable--no half assed, just a half hearted distractions here. From start to finish between the food, service, and atmosphere, El Molcajete is a winner and I look forward to coming back. read more

You can order a huge burrito with all the fixings, or a smaller plainer burrito like rice, beans, and shredded chicken which I'm sometimes in the mood for. There are also dinner plates, soups, and other options. They had some issues with inconsistency for a while which have been resolved with staff changes and training. The new owners (same family, next generation) have made improvements and are eager to hear customer feedback which we appreciate. We wish them continued success! read more

Not a lot in the way of ambiance, but the food was perfect Small bowl of chips served with a bean dip, a red and a green salsa. We both ordered the chicken tortilla soup. The waitress told us the bowls were pretty small, but they were good sized, and filled with tons of shredded, flavorful dark meat and all of the other goodies one hopes to find in good tortilla soup. We also ordered a quesadilla to share. It was also large and excellent. The restrooms were immaculate as well. This place is a gem. My family and I have gone weekly to this restaurant for a long time. We loved going here, but are not returning anymore. I called the restaurant for a mistake that was made in my order and the owner was very condescending when I told her about it. They forgot a burrito so my daughter had to go and drive back for it and the shrimp that I ordered was very sweet instead of spicy like I ordered. She was very rude and not helpful. She also said that she had a headache and just wanted to go home instead of arguing with me. And to top it off, I found a HAIR in my shrimp!!! The sauce was really good, not too thick and not to runny. I have had this before where it was sauce obviously recently out of a can. This was obviously cooked well with peppers and onions. Taste was spot on! Beans and rice were well seasoned. Flour tortillas looked and tasted as if they were warmed on the griddle rather than the microwave which added nice flavor. I recieved 4 tortillas which matched the amount of food that was on my plate. I usually have to ask for more, not this time. My dinner actually came with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. This was real nice to not have to ask for and pay more, and really some thing important with a dish thats served with tortillas. I want more than just rice beans and shrimp in each tortilla, and they provided! I would recommend eating here if your not looking to spend a whole lot of cash or time in the resaurant, have some decent food, and be on your way. read more

We ordered food by Phone and when we went to pick it up someone else had received our meal and was out the door. After they opened it up and realized it wasn't there's they brought it back while we were trying to receive our order that Another other customer had in their hand. They gave it back to the restaurant workers and they turned right around and try to serve it to us. We told them we didn't want the food that other people had handled and brought back in the restaurant. They told us to wait for a new order. A half an hour later we were served the same food cold.
