Excellent food! I've eaten there many times. My wife works for a winery and she gets food for the barrel room workers during harvest, they all enjoy the food. The main reason for this review is because I read the review from Lilliana A. with 1 star and it's racist content. I found it completely false. Then I read a few more and noticed for some reason she needs to point out her ethnicity and how she knows what good Mexican food is in every review about Mexican restaurants while criticizing them....hmmmm. What a great find! When wandering from Anderson Valley back to SF, it's worth the slight detour to grab lunch at El Molcajete. Nestled in among grocery shops and pharmacies you'd normally find at a strip mall, this little taco shop is churning out deliciously authentic Mexican food and an horchata worth crossing the country for. I was very impressed by how clean, tidy and bright this place was, and was even more impressed by the friendly and fantastic service. My taco salad was perfect -- crispy, fresh and flavorful. The veggies were crisp and bright, the pulled chicken was tender and juicy and the taco shell was fresh out of the fryer. My husband got an array of tacos and said every one of them was tasty. We both loved the freshly-made-to-order guacamole, and our horchata, as I mentioned, was perhaps the best I've ever had. Definitely worth seeking out, guys -- this place is legit! read more

Mmmm....yummy yummy in my tummy tummy. Free bean dip, chips and variety of salsa at the salsa bar! A group of us were driving back to the Bay Area from Mendocino and we found this place for lunch. Everyone agreed the food was absolutely delicious! The restaurant has awesome vegetarian food and non veg. I got the veggie fajitas which were fresh. I work in Cdale and eat here at least once a week. Great food and great staff. Everything I have tried has been really good. They have Lagunitas IPA on tap. Sam B. you can ask for more chips. Absolutely terrible service. EVERYTIME I order food here they seem to mess up a simple order and then act as if their employees can do no wrong. The manager accused me of trying to get free food when I order my nacho fries a specific way and they mess up the order almost everytime. The food is authentic and out pretty quick I will eat here and time and time again. This place is really poor. First of all the tortilla soup that everyone raved about has barely any chicken in it, and mostly bones. When I told the waitress she brought me more, but she told me the chicken is not even cooked in the tortilla soup. My friends flautas were falling apart and there was no cheese on them. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Cloverdale. It's clean, fast and yummy! I don't leave feeling bloated and over-full (like some Mexican restaurants). All of the food tastes fresh. While the service is fast only one of the two wait staff has been consistently friendly when I come in (hence the lack of being given 5 stars). My partner and I frequent this restaurant a few times each month and would hope that we were recognized by now, but there's still time. Otherwise, no complaints! read more

Quick lil cheap pit stop right off the 101 in a pretty big shopping center (read: plenty o' parking!) during our road trip up north. Service is fast, clean facility with clean bathroom, and the food is definitely very good -- we had 2 taco platters and left plenty full. The carnitas tacos were amazing, and the lengua was also not bad (could be a little more flavorful) and both servings were generous for taco plates. You get free chips with bean dip and 2 types of salsa (all were yummy! The green salsa is my favorite though) and they will refill your chips for free which is great. Wanted to like this place because of the other things on the menu that seems very authentic. But when I ordered al pastor, carne asada and polo asada tacos, it was bad. We haven't been here in a long time and won't be coming back! The chips are not fresh, and the red salsa is super bland! We had 2 different flavors of red salsa in the same bowl! The first red salsa was bland and the 2nd serving was even more bland, which was poured over the old salsa that had beans in it... portion size of the salsa is super small, and theirs a sign saying refill chips/salsa extra? We waited awhile for our food, I noticed other people that had come in after us were already getting their food. The waitress comes over says the cooks are having a hard time making the chimichanga. Say what? And then a few minutes later one of the other waitresses asked if we were waiting for food! Why yes we are... We ordered a chimichanga with only Meat, beans and rice on inside and dry on the outside. And HOUR later we finally got our food. No joke 5 other tables had their food before we did! A couple had even paid before we got our food, and we got their before them!! With 2 small and tired kids I just wanted a quick and tasty meal. Our food finally came, chimichanga brunt to a nice crisp, with only meat inside. Rice and beans on the side. I got a enchilada and taco plate, asked for green got red enchilada, the street taco had obviously been sitting as the tortillas were wet, soggy and falling apart. I'm guessing my food sat in the window while they tried to figure out the chimichanga ( that's on their menu) The guacamole they put on the plate is not real guacamole, and the flavors were just not that great, but after working outside all day in the heat I need some fuel. I am really disappointed. Our waitress ended up sending one of the other servers over, not sure why. She asked how everything was, so I mentioned that I asked for green, and mentioned about all the other tables around us. She tried to make excuses and then tell me the kitchen doesn't always take tags in order?! Never been to a restaurant where the cooks just cook whatEver tag they feel like... it was just an excuse! Just own up to the mistake we are paying customers!! I asked for a box, and she brings me 3 small ones, when clearly seen we had almost a whole plate of carne left. I asked her for a larger one and she's says we don't have any left, and says oh wait. And comes back with a large round one?! We live and work in Cloverdale. There are many choices of restaurants to pick from. We have had the Mucho burrito twice now, OMG. This thing is MASSIVE! The two of us can share one AND have a little leftover to mix into some eggs for breakfast the next day (although it's so good, we forced ourselves to finish it off once). Cloverdale has several choices of good Mexican food, this is high on our list 1) because it tastes great and 2) it is very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend this restaurant!!! The ONLY thing I can complain about is THEY DON'T DELIVER!!! :-( This place would be raking it in if it delivered, we'd be their best customers! read more
