I'm sorry I have to write this review! Unfortunately the customer service I received today from Israel was not the best. 1. I called from 9am till 9:30 (when finally Israel picked up) 2. I was asking questions that he seemed not to know the answer to at 1st. 3. I felt he was not really trying to help me since he stated he had someone else there writing up a contract. I understand but your existing customers are just as important as new ones. After this I am considering cancelling my account. read more

A storage unit became a necessity for me, and I was happy to find El Monte Storage. It was conveniently located, and I thoroughly researched different storage companies before making my decision. El Monte Storage offered a good move-in deal, and when I went to see the unit, I received great service, and the process was very smooth. I've been renting my unit for over a year now, and have been very pleased with it. The facility is clean, very well maintained and secure. And the staff is very friendly and efficient. Also, since my unit is on the third floor, I often borrow a cart from the office to transport boxes to my unit. This process is easy--you just have to leave your drivers license at the office until you return the cart. Only once did I have to wait for a cart because they were all in use. Since then, I try to go early in the morning if I know I'll need to borrow a cart. Highly recommended! read more

Their fees are much too expensive for the area. The current housing crisis has left so many people desperate or just looking for a place to put their belongings just in case something happens. Most storage companies have raised their prices significantly during the pandemic without offering any improvements or offering better security or insurance coverage of their own. Most storage space chains have done the same. $200 + or - for a 10'x10' compared to pricing less than a year ago is absolutely ridiculous. read more

There are no special accommodations for handicap customers. My card expired , I have been trying to go in for the past 1-2 months but haven't been able to due to health reasons. They won't take my credit card payment at all. For someone who has chronic pain and immune problems it's not easy to go there directly for something that can be done online or over the phone. I don't even mind paying a one time over the phone payment fee. I've been calling and asking for handicap accommodation to take payment over the phone or any other alternative but they refused they only want in person. Please reconsider getting this place due to lack of handicap accommodations. read more

I know the pricing per unit is higher than it's competitors and I accept that because of its location to my residence what I think everybody should know including this company's management is whenever you call the phone line nobody ever answers. iIt doesn't even go forward to a voicemail not that they will call you back but it simply just hangs up like right now for instants. Ive have been a El Monte storage customer for 9 years now. And now that they have closed off the restrooms amd have new management the property has gotten way better. Cleaner hallways, more courtesy calls, cleaner parking lot and no more dumpster dumping on site etc Very limited parking if your storage unit is in the first building outside of the gate. You can rent a moving u haul from here, borrow the flatbed dolly to transport your stuff to your storage unit and pay as many months in advance as youd like. Management is almost always friendly. You can purchase bubble wrap, boxes, tape, labels etc also. read more

Well I use to get treated great but it just seems like when you mostly need the help everyone turns there back 10days after being late on my payment they put the lock on my storage and yes I know it's my fault for not being able to make the payment but Im homeless and aways on a constant move so I get there to put most of my belongings and I borrowed moving cart from the girl in the office gave my I'd asked if the elevator closer to my unit was still not working so yes still have me directions on how to reroute to the other elevator to get down in the basement to unload my stuff to find it locked I still asked if she can make an exception this one time to let us unload she rudely reply no you didn't pay so we put a lock I explained to her my family and I were homeless and had to move hotels and we had just been there the night before and it didn't have a locked and the guy next to her said I put right after you left ... I did my police report but everyone knowns that they are not catching anyone. with out good evidence.My big issue is that your cameras are outdated and also there locations are poor and no cameras on the hallways and the camera in the elevator don't work. Is very hard to believe that two people randomly pick a locker on the second floor and hit the jack pot. i remember this white bold guy 5' 9 to 6' braw shoulder medium built having a unit in front of mine the only person how saw what I had. Now the staff is sayin that "no" the unit was occupied by an Asian man so it makes me believe it was a inside job. please be aware how you hire and have more accountability for your business. read more

Do not be lured by intro / advertised rates. This storage facility uses predatory pricing and will increase your rent every 5-6 months regardless of what size of unit you rent. If you downsize to a smaller unit, you will save money for a few months and then they will increase to the same rate as your previous unit. These constant rate increases should be illegal. They will say "oh, that's what other rental facilities do." If that's even true, it doesn't justify this kind of bait & switch. It's called Greed, plain and simple. Find a better place with longer term rate guarantees. read more

PLEASE BE WARNED. I have been a loyal customer since 2012 and rent multiple spaces in this facility. Since 2012, I have paid for all of my spaces within the grace period. This year, due to the economic hardship resulting from the pandemic, I have paid a few days after the grace period. It's been challenging. The rent for my biggest unit (10x30) was late this month (2 days after the grace period) and the late fee they charged me was $59.25!!!!!!! This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. I called and asked for the manager to waive the fee since I have been there for almost 10 years, have THREE spaces and am doing my best financially during this pandemic. THEY REFUSED. I repeat--THEY REFUSED. IN ADDITION, BE AWARE THAT THEY INCREASE THEIR RATES BY $30-40 TWICE A YEAR--EVERY SINGLE YEAR. YES, TWICE A YEAR. Do not expect the price you've been quoted to remain that way for long. It will be at $60-80 more by the end of your first year. Needless to say, I will be moving the contents of my three spaces one by one and plan to fully be out of there by early next year. As a business owner myself, this is not how you treat loyal customers during such a difficult financial time. Disappointing and shameful--not a smart business decision and quite frankly, a disgusting way to treat your customers. read more

Ok here is my epic story, I booked a 10x10 storage here with SelfStorage.com with the listed price of $150 , when I get there, the person working at front desk told me, NOPE price is $160 not $150, I told him I had a online reservation and here is my reservation code, then the 2nd guy at front desk took 2 minutes and found it, but he had to call his manager to confirm the rate. The website that I booked thorough also have the promotion of 10% off for veteran, Senior citizen and student. I told them I like to take advantage of this offer, he then again, said nope, because they do no offer this. Then I said, the website which I booked the storage says this term exist, he said well, its SelfStorage.com not our website so we don't honor it, then I said if you don't honor it, then why did you have my reservation which I booked through that website? If I can book it, than that means you accept that websites term, if you accept 1 term, why do you reject the other term come from the same place? Then the guy said... well maybe they already taken the Senior discount into account, because our regular price is 160, and you booked it with 150, I show them that is not the case, $150 is the STANDARD price that pop up, no where did the website ask for my age, and in any case, 10% of 160 = $16 so if that's the case, shouldn't 160-16 = $145? At this point, I can see that all of this is going through his head. Then the 1st guy walked in, started to talk very loud over me, and told me I'm not a senior citizen which I am not... I mean wow, thank you Captain Obvious for that astute observation, he said that you need to be a senior to taken that offer... which I then explain to him for the 2nd time (Already did once), I known I"m not a senior citizen, but I just want to confirm this so one of my family member who is older will come in to sign the contract, so I asked, are you saying that you accept this? At this point, this guy mumble something and walked away. This argument went on for another 10 minutes or so with the EXACT SAME TALKING POINT, look like they accept my booking through SelfStorage.com, but yet... still telling me that SelfStorage.com does not have authorization over them... even they accept the terms from the SelfStorage.com (Its like the movie squeal to Dumb and Dumber 3) At this point i was pretty upset, but I said to myself... Jack.. forget it, just book it with $150, which I told the first guys this... at which point he told me... I'm not going to help you today, I tried to explain this to you and you don't understand (BS, you lost every argument we had, I have shown you screenshots, email confirmation etc... you are the one does not understand) so why don't you come back tomorrow and do it, then I said... Sir, I already accept your term, lets do business, lets have this done for $150 the TERM YOU AGREE TO... at this point, the 2nd guy come out and start to yell at me...." Sir we try to explain to you and you don't understand, you are not a senior citizen and you are trying to sign up with this offer, so I'm going to ask you to leave ( Did he just told me for the 3rd time that I'm not a senior citizen???) AND IF YOU DON'T LEAVE, I'M GOING TO CALL THE COPS ON YOU. At this point I said, lets just relax ok?, lets do the deal for 150 that we both agree upon, at this point both guy start to yell at me at same time, that I'm causing trouble for them... that I don't understated what they are trying to explain to me etc..... and yes, the 2nd guy actually called 911 and starting to tell the police that I am yelling, I am causing a huge disruption for their business.. that they need to send a police officer down there to take me away.... I just want to make it very clear ,that my ENTIRE conversation from beginning to end, THERE ISN'T A SINGLE TIME WHICH I YELLED AT THEM, they are the ones that has been talking over me, being extremely rude. At this point.. I just left the store. I have never in my life, faced 2 individual this unprofessional and lack of knowledge. One of the person named is Paul, he is the taller one, the other employee is the one wearing glasses and shorter, I did not get his name. Both are male Hispanics. This incidence happen at August 16 2017, approximately 330-430PM Anyone from El Monte Storage that that dispute my story please go ahead look up your own security cameras and you can also get the recorded phone record from 9-11 if you want to go that far. I stand by 100% of what I described, if I'm wrong in anyway, may god strike my dead. My wife and I were looking for a storage unit to store our stuff. We looked around all of El Monte and this was the only place that looked clean, easy to access, and had great customer service. Joanna was the rep who helped us get our storage unit and it was a very easy process. Last month, we forgot a new picture frame we left out when we were taking stuff out of the storage. Joanna was kind enough to go check to see if the frame was around our unit area, and she even walked the building to see if someone placed it somewhere else.
