    Tacos
    Jun O.

Located right next to a tire shop, this joint did not disappoint. Everything seemed handmade and hand prepared, all the way down the to tortilla. The tameles were well cooked all the way through and really provided a kick. the tacos were also great, I really liked the tortillas and how crisply they were cooked. The auga fresca here also were amazingly good, not too sweet and i can taste the fruit bases without struggle. the staff is incredibly nice and it's the perfect place to wait or come in for a quick bite.

Casual Mexican dining in a... tire store? Well, not exactly, but this restaurant is built onto the tire shop, and I got a tip to try out their food. Going inside, you order tires right next to where you order food, but wait until you try it! The food, I haven't tried the tires. They're famous for their tamales. They make them fresh and traditionally, and they are amazing! They come with Mexican rice and their kitchen-made refried beans. Their chile relleno is made from Poblano peppers. Normally, I prefer Anaheim peppers because Poblanos can be stringy, but here they're cooked until they're tender, succulent, and delicious! It's served with Mexican rice and their freshly made refried beans. Bonus! You also get a couple of freshly made corn tortillas. Smell the corn. Yum! The service comes with a smile and friendly words... Don't be offput if they use the Hispanic pronounciation of your name! To find good Mexican food where I grew up in Southern California, you went where the natives went. Well, this is the place, 'mano! See you there!

    #3- Combination Plate

Incredibly solid Mexican food, inside a tire shop. Victor's Restaurant has an extensive menu, including tacos, enchiladas, tamales, agua frescas, and much more. On one side of the building, there is an actual tire shop, and on the other, a seating area complete with DIY salsa bar. I love tamales, so I was excited to try both their sweet and savory options. The corn and cheese/jalapeno were my favorites by far, especially with their house made salsas. The sweet tamales (I got strawberry and pineapple) were not sweet enough, and a little doughy. Not bad, just not my thing. The agua frescas were delicious, and the portion is huge, like 40 ounces lol. One is enough to share. My husband and friend got tacos and combo plates that looked fantastic as well. Highly recommended.

Yummy! The beef was super tender and so juicy! From my experience birria tacos are always messy! Happy for the little cup of rojo sauce. The consome was a little bland though. It needed a flavor punch. The bonus was the tacos tastes good on their own. And I am glad I added those hot carrots as it added a welcome zing to cut through the richness of the tacos!

    Taco Tuesday deal!

I've been here a few times and it has never failed my expectations. The tamales are still as good as the first time. It has to be one of the best tamales in Salt Lake City! My favorite is the pork with red sauce (it has a nice kick of heat in it) and the chicken with green sauce. The location is super easy to find as it's located at Victor's Tires with plenty of parking outside. If you're in town, definitely stop by to grab some tamales!

Seating area interior. Order at the counter, sit in the dining area to eat.

Victors Restaurant is a true anomaly, a restaurant that serves traditional Mexican Food that is located in a successful tire repair shop. Last week, I noticed on a Saturday morning that a trailer that I had temporarily loaned to a family member (two years before) that I had retrieved, was down to the bare nubs and was even showing cordage through the rubber. Thinking that an emergency tire replacement was in order, I decided to go to Victors, as sometimes they have used tires for sale. Upon arrival, I got the tire replacement settled and walked to the restaurant ordering register which is in the same lobby as the tire ordering desk. As it was going to be a 45 minute wait for the tire service and because it was Saturday morning, I decided to get a traditional bowl of menudo. The order was quickly processed and maybe because I had added a tip to my payment, the young lady who took my order brought out my large bowl of menudo, accompanied by a half lime, cilantro onions and four dried salted cayenne peppers. I quickly dumped them into my soup and began to enjoy a savory rich broth with a lot of tripe. I know tripe is not enjoyed by everyone, but I really enjoy it in Mexican and Asian dishes alike. There were three homemade corn tortillas, quite large, that came along with the menudo. I was able to use them both as a type of street taco, to hold the tripe, some onions and cilantro and as for a second one, I tore it and dropped it into the soup. I also had a can of coconut water with pulp as a refreshing drink. The menudo is the only thing I've tried at Victors, once with Pozole and once without. I kind of liked the texture of the pozole in the menudo, but, I'm not sure if you get tortillas with that variation. Next time I'll have to give the tamales a shot. Tires fixed, belly full, another satisfying visit to Victors in the books.

Absolutely delicious!…read more I got a BOGO free burrito coupon from their FB feed, so why not? So glad I did! I had the spicy green chili burrito--delicious! Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Letty, completely changed our opinion of this restaurant. There were two main issues that made our visit frustrating: 1. We did not receive our drinks until after our food arrived, and we actually had to remind our server that we were still waiting on them. When Letty brought out our food, we politely asked about our two cokes and were told, "Give her more time." We felt we had already been very patient and only asked after our food had arrived. Waiting for drinks while eating a meal was frustrating, especially since the restaurant was not busy and was actually starting to slow down during the last hour we were there (around 8-9 PM). 2. While we were eating, Letty refilled our water and the table next to us, then continued having a long conversation with the neighboring table while standing very close to us. It felt like we were being completely ignored, and the lack of awareness for our personal space made it difficult for my husband especially to comfortably enjoy his meal. We understand that everyone has busy shifts, but the level of attentiveness and service we experienced was disappointing. We left feeling frustrated and unlikely to return after this visit and would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Margaritas are now $7. Yep. $7. Tasty, but even more so for $7. Grab a seat, order a couple of carne asada street tacos and an order of their insanely good chipotle glazed chicken wings (three per order) and a house El Cholo margarita. The tacos and the wings are $5 per order and for less than $20, you have a great deal on some tasty food. Don't worry, they'll bring chips and salsa, too - as is customary and free. Yes, these deals are only for folks at the bar, but it's a nice place to be.
