After my friends and I wrapped up at Monkish Brewery down the street, we decided to walk around the neighborhood and stumbled upon El Moro. At 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening, there wasn't an especially long line to order and we waited only about five minutes for us to receive our order. The first time I had El Moro was during a visit to Mexico City and those churros were seriously life changing. I was giddy with excitement to see that they now had a location in LA. My friends and I ordered four churros for $11 and a side of their chocolate hazelnut dip for another $2. I would definitely recommend one churro per person. The churros here come piping hot, and are immediately dipped in a coating of cinnamon sugar soon after they're deep fried. These are so good on their own, you honestly don't even need a dip on the side to add more sweetness. In fact, you may want to consider ordering a black coffee to enjoy with your churro. The outside of the churro is as crispy as it gets, and the inside is fluffy like a donut. Not a thing I would change about these delicious bites of fried goodness. These are great churros! If you are craving them -- this is the spot to go to. The churros are hot/warm, soft, and crunchy, with a good amount of sugar and cinnamon seasoning. There is also an ice cream sandwich in between two churros which I didn't have the opportunity to buy, but it looked good. The milk shake, however, I did purchase and that was very satisfying on a hot day. The customer service was fast and efficient. My first experience at El Moro was their CDMX location, so I was very excited to see them open up a Los Angeles location. I came here on Saturday around midnight for an after party snack. The churros were still hot, fresh, and delicious! It for sure hit the spot. Quality was unmatched. The service was also wonderful--staff was still kind and energetic even in the late hour. This is definitely a great spot for both families and late night party-goers alike. I appreciate the parking lot! When we came, there was no line like there usually is. They have outdoor and indoor seating here. I got the four piece churros so we can each try one. After seeing the crazy long lines and hearing so much about this El Moro, we had to check it out. A few months late, but I'm okay with that because I was not about to stand in a line for over an hour just for churros and hot chocolate. First, we were pleased with the super cute parking area that had really cute art. The place itself was empty when we arrived, so there were no lines, which was a relief. The inside was very clean and I loved the white and blue signage and simple design of the place. They also have outdoor seating available but it was way too hot to sit outside. We got two churros, an iced Frances and a hot Frances. Overall, we enjoyed the drinks and churros but I have to say that it felt like the churros were fried in day old oil because there was this oil smell you get when you use the same oil to fry for a while. That was a bit disappointing but, the churros were still delicious with a nice touch of cinnamon sugar. I really enjoyed my iced Frances though. It wasn't too sweet and it was refreshing! Craving churros? This is your spot! I was extremely excited when I found out that there is a churreria El Moro here in Los Angeles. I visited their original location in Mexico City a few years ago and had the best churros and hot chocolate, so we are so fortunate to have one here in LA. We stopped by after a game late at night around 11pm, so the line was very short and we didn't have to wait too long. They have menus on two large TVs, however, I do recommend that they only show the menu. When we visited, the menu screen kept changing to other ads and pictures, and it was hard to keep track of the menu items because the screen would change every few seconds. We opted for 4 churros, which was plenty. Keep in mind that these churros are long, so honestly one or two per person is perfect, unless you want to indulge. We also accompanied our churros with a Mexican hot chocolate, which was divine! They offer other delicious goodies, so we will be back to try more. The food was amazing, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. The only downside was the drinks. Thankfully, the staff was very accommodating. I do hope they revisit the recipe, though. I was so excited to try this place after I heard it had opened but I was honestly pretty disappointed. We went on a weekday more toward closing in the evening and waited maybe about 10 minutes in line. Ordered the 4 churros + 1 dip + 1 hot chocolate combo with the cajeta dip. I'm not sure if we just came at the wrong time and that's why they weren't fresh but I can get bags of fresh churros on the streets in Mexico for $2 or less that are fresher than this. The moro of the story is that these churros rock! I saw that El Moro opened a full store in Echo Park and was super excited to pass by on my way home. I love anything bite sized, so I went for the Moritos--perfect for sharing or for eating a bit at a time. I prefer these than getting one giant churro you have to bite off. They come in the cutest takeout box too! Flavor wise, I think they were great. Texture wise, kinda wish they were a little more chewy (maybe not as hard fried), but just my preference. The cinnamon and sugar could have also stuck to the churro better but nonetheless these were a delight. HIGHLY recommend getting a dip for these bad boys. I went for the chocolate hazelnut and it was GREAT. I kept the dip in the fridge overnight and it's even BETTER cold (makes the dip a little more viscous/less runny). Popped my leftover churros in the air fryer and they were just as good as the first day! Would love to come back to try their other dips or their savory items. Ok to the logistics, store is beautiful! Lovely bright white interior with blue accents. Plenty of seating both inside the restaurant and on their patio. No notes there. I've visited El Moro in Mexico City quite a few times and couldn't be happier when I heard the news that they were coming to Echo Park. The Eastside location is just as fabulous and delicious as I remember. Amazing (and huge) churros, mini churro bites, and fabulous dipping sauces. My personal favorite sauces are the condensed milk and Nutella-like option. The service was excellent, and the outdoor patio is quite spacious and welcoming. This was my second time visiting El Moro in two weeks, which honestly says a lot considering I live out of town. The first time I discovered it was after visiting one of my favorite breweries, Monkish Brewing Co.. El Moro is nearby, and the look of the building immediately caught my attention. Once I walked inside and realized they specialized in churros, I was sold. I love churros, especially the ones at Disneyland, so I had to try this place. The menu has a ton of options. You can order churros individually, in sets, or as churro bites, and they also have several dipping sauces including cajeta, condensed milk, chocolate hazelnut, and guava. Beyond the churros, they offer a wide variety of drinks including Mexican hot chocolate styles like the Mexicano, Frances, Especial, Oaxaqueño, and champurrado. They also have coffee drinks like café de olla, cappuccinos, lattes, and Americanos, plus aguas frescas, milkshakes, tortas, and more. The first time I visited, I had churros with the Mexicano hot chocolate, and it was fantastic. The second time, my girlfriend and I both got churros again, and she ordered a hot café de olla while I tried the iced version. The hot version was definitely better and more flavorful, so I'd recommend sticking with the hot drinks if you can. Next time, I'm probably trying the champurrado. The atmosphere is also really nice. The restaurant has a clean white-and-blue aesthetic, the staff all wear uniforms, and everything felt clean and organized inside. It's honestly a really solid little date spot if you're in the area. Parking is manageable since there are parking lots nearby around Echo Park within a short walking distance. They also have a restroom available, though you'll need the code from the receipt or can just ask the staff for it. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend El Moro if you have a sweet tooth. As a frequent traveler to Mexico City, I was so happy to see El Moro near me. I have also visited the one inside the market in Costa Mesa when they first opened, but let's be real. It looks dry and tastes dry too. I've had this I don't know how many times in Mexico, but trust me, I had enough to tell the difference easily. The dips here look like they've been packaged individually by staff, whereas in Mexico, they already come out in a small square container kind of like the ones given at Chick-fil-A. But it is satisfying, especially when I am craving their guava dip. Guys, chocolate, condensed milk, caramel, or whatever else they have, try GUAVA. THIS should be the only dip you should try. I only get this one, and it hits the spot perfectly. So why three stars? It's so filthy! Sugar sprinkles literally everywhere: counters, condiments section, chairs, tables, floor, etc. It doesn't look clean at all. I don't remember seeing anything like this in Mexico. Even where they fry the churros doesn't seem too clean. It really bothers me that they don't do proper cleaning throughout the restaurant.
