We had a late lunch (3pm). Place was under staff and took a few minutes to be seated. The food was average. Salsa and chips were ok. They do have Horchata and hibiscus Mexican drinks. That was good. Menu was very extensive. They even have burgers if you want one. Overall experience was ok.

Great service, seated quickly. On the back side of St. Matthews mall, I didn't realize it was here for the longest time, but it does not disappoint! Very friendly and accommodating staff. The food was delivered to the table quickly, steaming hot, and delicious.

Had dinner here on a Friday and it was amazing. The service was ok, the server wasn't as attentive as I am used to. The food was amazing, ordered and it was freshly made and to the table in less than seven minutes. The margaritas were delicious as well. The food was sooooo good we came back days later and food was just as great! I would definitely recommend to anyone, especially families. The carnitas chimichanga was delicious and rice and beans were perfect.

I love El Nopal! Moved from KY and haven't been in over a year. I actually had not visited this location before but of course it did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly and the food was amazing. Our queso was warm not hot when we got it but our waiter happily replaced it! If you're looking for good food this is the spot!

Came here for to split a pitcher of beer and chips and queso with a friend. The pitchers are very reasonably priced but the service isn't great. It took about 15 minutes for them to bring the beer over and there was only 3 tables in the place.

The cleanest El Nopal I have ever been in. Their menu has some extra additions. Food is always good and fast. Employees are always nice.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We ordered the Trio of Guacamole and they were all fantastic. I ordered an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. The presentation was crazy. It smoked and bubbled. For dinner, my wife and I split an order of Tacos Al Pastor. Again they did a great presentation on this entree. This has to be the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.

When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!

The waitress was friendly & attentive. I had ordered the Peruvian ribs and they were mediocre. There wasn't much flavor & just tasted a bit overcooked yet warm. I had requested a spicy sauce on the side for my ribs & I was confused what I was eating it was homemade & yellow cream color yet it was just too spicy to even enjoy!! It seems like a wonderful place for Americanized Mexican food, so I'll need to come back to try that but as for Peruvian I'm quite disappointed:/
