The decor was awesome; there were twinkling lights and beautiful craved furniture. However, the rest of the experience was dreadful. The food ..... words can't define how unsavory and unappetizing the offerings were the night we visited. I believe the food was purchased bulk from Aramark; the kind of stuff you purchase for a dollar at Dollar Tree.

Service is always super quick at El Nopal. Outdoor patio at the Jtown location is nice. Recommend their chimichangas and fajitas.

There was almost no one with me. Personal attention. Not over bearing. The jalapeño Margarita is highly recommend. So so good!! Food was delicious.

Ordered takeout. Usually ok but today the order was not only wrong it looked like dog food. Part of order was missing. Was cold and tortillas were in pieces. Don't recommend. Highly disappointed.

Craving Mexican after a road trip on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. As soon as we walked in, we were seated and waited on right away. We got chips and salsa which was served with two different sauces. Mild and Spicy. Spicy was awesome with a great flavor. Chips were fresh. I got the Beef hard shell tacos with a cheese quesadilla and Margarita on the rocks. All came out fresh and delicious! Staff friendly and fast. Restaurant clean with a great atmosphere. Pricing reasonable. Would definitely come back.

Always a good time here. The staff is always friendly. Food is always fresh and hot and it's clean. One thing I did see was that they need to move the garbage can in the mens room over by the door. Other than that. This place is a great place for families . It has a nice parking lot, plenty of space inside and outside the restaurant. Drinks are always filled up and the chips keep coming.

El Nopal Jeffersontown. Menu says fried fish. Beware!!

Have frequented this restaurant for years. Some staff disappearing. Last 2 times, service not up to par. Ordered chicken dish, got beef. This time, ordered fried fish. No warning from wait staff. A HUGE WHOLE FISH. BEWARE!! STAFF LAUGHING LIKE JOKE!! Mostly carcass, head and bones. See photo. Although a few may like this style, I did not. This is where they need a photo on the menu. In fact, staff walked buy and smiled as they saw us in a dilemma. I tried to eat. Fact is, there was probably not 3 oz of fish to eat. I've seen other reviews in this dish, with same complaint!! And it kind of ruined the meal for others at my table Expected more from this restaurant...a warning of what was to come should have been professionally and courteously offered rather than the prank smiles from staff. Other guest ordered chimichanga!! Nothing but burrito wrap!! No deep fried anything!! P.S. Menu changed. Prices on some meals, especially seafood, up 30%. A Lenten gesture?? Tilapia meal I've ordered in past up to $14 now. Are u kidding!! I can get salad, entree, starch, veggie and dessert at Bonefish Grill for $14.99!!!!!!!!

    Coldest draft in town!
    Beth B.

This is our weekly girls night out spot for literally the coldest draft beer I have ever had at a restaurant. No lie, the beer goes down so smoothly when it is that ice cold! Especially when combined with spicy salsa and their creamy white queso! Margaritas here are always fantastic too but honestly I can never pass up the ice cold cerveza! The food is your normal Mexi-American take and I generally order the same chicken taco fajita every week. I love that their food is never cold and the servers are friendly and quick. Definitely the best El Nopal in town if you want my opinion. Have hit quite a few of them but this one stands far and above all the others!

It's not my favorite Mexican restaurant but it's the one with the most local locations. My daughter also loves it so it's where we ended up for dinner. We started with margaritas and cheese dip. Love their cheese dip! I had my usual carnitas. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. It's not my favorite but it's certainly not bad. The atmosphere at this particular location was really nice too. It's not the first or last time we'll go.

    Regular Margarita on the rocks.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
