This place is very low-key but has very tasty food. Based on the atmosphere I'd recommend coming for a casual lunch or dinner or just ordering to go. I read the reviews before coming and I'm grateful that I did because it led me to order the broiled shrimp. Definitely would order that again. It came with fried rice and salad. I loved the fusion of Asian and Latin flavors in my meal. And the garlic flavor was so on point. Also the homemade tea was good. I tried my dad's shrimp soup which was underwhelming. I was expecting it to be a little more seasoned. My mother's broiled fish however was just as delicious as my shrimp. My siblings had steak which I didn't try but they seemed to enjoy it. read more

I've been eating here for as long as I can remember. this is an Asian and Hispanic food fusion restaurant; the waiters and staff also speak Spanish and English for your convenience. This is a classic Asian / Latin spot, they have chicaron de pollo right on the same menu as chicken and broccoli. It's all good, I had the Spanish steak and onions with tostones and vegetable fried rice. Very tasty! The garlic mojo for the tostones was on point too. I'm pretty sure the stuffed clams and lobster would be wonderful as well, but I'm pregnant right now so I'm abstaining, but when I go back I'm throwing down on that! My husband had the fried pork chops and those were amazing too! He also ordered the house Iced Tea - very yummy as well. Does El Pabellon mean "turd stand" in Spanish? I found myself working in this neighborhood over a month ago and unfortunately ate here based on the Yelp review of Glendy D who must clearly suffer from lack of tastebuds. I had the special, which was a pasty plate of charred rice that contained hardly any pork?, chicken? who knows what it was. Tasted like they used mop water to make the rice and was not able to be eaten, even drowned in duck and hot sauce. The singularly worst meal that has ever been set in front of me. Upon telling the waiter, as a kind of congratulations for setting a new low bar, his reaction was to shrug his shoulders and skulk away. I wanted to throw paper towels in the toilet, but there are not enough paper towels to fill up this whole restaurant and make it float away... Want any further proof how horrible this place is? What a culture shock. Never have I walked into a restaurant where its all Chinese staff speaking Spanish. No way for me to communicate with them since I dont speak Cantonese (thats what it sounded like) nor Spanish. Ordering was a challenge but a very fun experience since the staffs are friendly. The food was delicious. A little on the expensive side but you do get big portions. Will order again! read more

I am so confused by all these excellent reviews. I had heard that this place was great. The food looked very appetizing in the pictures I saw on social media. I was in the Bronx this week and decided to try it. My review of wait staff is a 5. Great, entertainment and attentive. They spoke Spanish and very funny and friendly. Upon entering, the restaurant looks dirty. The lobster tank at the entrance looked very foggy and a need of a good glass cleaning. There was a mop placed right next to the tank. As we waited to be seated, a man came over grabbed the mop and used it to wipe a spill using no water or cleaner/disinfectant. He then put it right back against the lobster tank. We were seated and our orders were taken quickly. Bread and butter were brought out while we waited. Bread was stale and not warm. Food came out and looked amazing. Great presentation and attention to our order. I ordered broiled fish fillet w shrimp...not bad just bland. My husband ordered steak and shrimp that was not bad either. We ordered Mofongo as an appetizer and that was bad. It was submerged in a a heavy lard looking orange sauce. It was drenched in this sauce. We had to remove it from that bowl and dry off some of the grease. This was the only "bad" tasting food. All in all food wasn't terrible just a bit bland. Finally the bathrooms were dirty. My family has been eating here since the 80's, great food!!!!!!! I just went today for a banana milkshake and it was just as I remembered. Ahh.. Good times. I personally order the combo shrimp in devil sauce, my little sister orders the chicken wings (lol) Cus they're so good. They also have a 11:30-3:00 lunch special that beats the other Chinese take out spots around here. Beware of the last table, on the left hand side in the back, the AC always makes that spot cold in the summer (unless u like that). The food and service is great here. If you come after 6 on a weekend it tends to get crowded so expect to wait. Been coming here for years and it's the best place around to grab some delicious food. They been around for a while and the reason I didn't give that extra star is because they can renovate the place and make it look much better then what it is now, especially the restrooms. Yelp has the information incorrect, this is not in any means Mexican food. It's a Cuban Latin Asian infusion food which is completely different from the typical Asian and Cuban food perspectively. In no means it includes Latin Mexican flavors or infusion in any way. People familiar with Asian Cuban food will understand the difference and those that have never tried it will learn by visiting this establishment. Stopped by this location today to order Chicharron de pollo sin hueso with sweet plantain (not by choice). The chicharron de pollo pieces were grotesquely HUGE Chicken breast (dark meat) pieces, with thick skin on every piece, and very slimy on the inside. I could not eat it, and was at the brink of throwing up! The chicken quality was very poor and low grade; EXTREMELY questionable. The fried sweet plantains were LOADED with so much grease, I could wring them out and have enough oil to refry them. Apparently, I could not eat those either! I wasted $10.00 on a nonedible meal, after not only walking to the store (over 15 minutes), but also walking to an ATM (No cash!). El Pabellon De Oro should be ASHAMED of themselves. Also, the menu is in desperate need of review and revision there are NO HEALTHY OPTIONS available. I did not want to order rice (because not everyone eats rice, or pork fried rice!), however I was told that I could not substitute the fried rice, French fries, or plantains ((everything is fried)) with broccoli or a different steamed vegetable :(. I was told that I had to choose one of those options, and if I wanted broccoli or another steamed vegetable (healthier option), I would have to order it SEPERATELY which comes with rice which is included in the price ($6.75). So, in order to eat lunch (which should be affordable) I have to order extra things that I do not want, or need AND I would have to pay EXTRA and have EXTRA food that I do not want. To end this review, I will not be visiting this establishment EVER again and do not recommend if you remotely care about your health. They, like many other establishments in the Bronx are the very reason for many of the health issues that many Bronxites are struggling with, due to lack of healthy food options, and healthier alternatives. This is a neighborhood staple if you live in Westechester Ave off the 6 train, I grew up going to this restaurant, it is a mix of chinese food and authentic latin food, I love The Broiled fish and their tostones, along with their Carne palomilla MMM... also a fantastic dish which I highly recommend is their Carne asada con chanpinones (a.k.a. Latin Fillet Mignon) and their Guisado (stew is awesome) read more

Many people love the concept of Chinese / Spanish cuisine in one place, and I do too, these folks are from Cuba and they speak English, Spanish and of course Chinese. Having said all of that the food is really not all that. I went and had a simple order of Steak and Onions with tostones (fried Green plantain). The steak is paper thin and the tostones are are super squashed with what looks like a waffle masher. Honestly there are places like this in Manhattan that are way better and for a few dollars more. I love the food here. This restaurant has a Chinese-Cuban menu, and across the board I don't think that I've had a bad meal here. It's good for take-out and dine-in. They don't deliver and they don't accept credit cards. You must have cash, but don't worry too much the food is reasonably priced. This is definitely my go to spot whenever I'm in the BX. I love this spot and everyone already knows me and my family so they always make sure we have what we want.
