We've been eating here for years! Love the atmosphere, food and service. Excellent cheese dip!

Went there with a group. They brought out 2 salsas for 7 people, wrong drinks, hardly any ice, 80+ degrees outside. Salsa was probably the worst salsa I've ever had, used to be exceptional. Food took a long time to come. My food (enchilada, burrito) were drenched in tasteless red sauce, hard shell taco shell was stale, only took one bite. Very disappointing. Years ago, this place was hopping, one of the best in town. No problem finding a seat today (probably less then 20% capacity), even on a holiday weekend with beach tourists flooding in. read more

This use to be my favorite place to eat... In the past few months they have expanded so therefore the prices went way up. That would be ok if the food quality would of stayed the same. Nope food looks horrible, has no flavor it's like they tried to make it a "gourmet mexican grill". The cheese on the quesadilla wasn't even melted .. We ended sending everything back except the rice and the bill was still $18.00 for 2 waters, 1 tea, cheese dip and order of rice. Please FIRE the kitchen manager and go back to the old menu that was awesome!! read more

The chicken is a mix of dark and light meat, kind of minced together. And the beef in my burrito was similar to wet dog food in consistency. At least the salsa was mediocre. read more

The wife and I had lunch yesterday at El Paso Mexican Grill. We have had lunch here many time in the past. We were disappointed in the meal. The enchilada cheese was like milk (watered down too thin), The beans were too runny and watery to eat with a fork, and the rice was atrocious. We have eaten here for the last time. Service is pretty slow. Received cheese dip before getting chips and salsa. It took 10 minutes to get a refill on chips and salsa. Ordered the sampler platter and nachos loco...nachos had one huge, tough, uncut piece of steak on it and sampler stuffed jalapeños and cheese sticks had no cheese in them (over fried). read more

We were a little hesitant to try this place based on several bad reviews. I'm glad we decided to go. It's kind of a mix between Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food. It was pretty good! Not the very best Mexican I've had, but definitely not the worst! Reasonable prices and large portions. Chips and salsa were good as well. We had no issues with our service either. We were seated right away and our waiter was prompt and friendly. We visit the Gulf Shores area regularly and this is he best Mexican restaurant we have found so far. We will be back! read more

My family and I have come to this place for the last few years. We usually have a great time with the veteran servers that are there, but recently we didn't have an easy as a time. A new blonde girl, whose only been there a few months, didn't exactly know the protocol. She wasn't attentive to us and was rude enough to take our plates before we were done. She would ask to see if her other tables were fine, but didn't ask us at all, even though her other tables were on either side of us. It took so long we had to track her down at the bar to ask for more chips and tortillas. We finally spoke with the manager, who was more than willing to comp our food after she tried to overcharge us for tortillas we didn't get. Like I said, this was the first time we've ever had a problem here, and we wondered if it was her first day, so we tried to cut her some slack. But it was one thing after another. read more

Good cheap Mexican! Guacamole is Texas style and yummy! They give you huge portions! Chips were fresh and the queso was super tasty - love white cheese queso! The atmosphere was nice and cozy with a great wait staff. I had 2 chicken soft tacos with refried beans and enjoyed all very much. read more

Poor service. Had to wait about 10 minutes for the waiter to come to the table. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks. On the menu by the way. The waiter said he would try and make one. Then it was another 15 minutes before the drinks got to the table. Food was good. Then my party of 3 had 2 checks. He put the cheese dip on the wrong check. So when we go to the registry to pay. I told the guy to take the dip off my ticket and put on the other ticket. He for some reason didn't believe me and had to argue with me. Then he had to get the waiter to explain it to him. This was our first time visiting an El Paso but my husband said he heard very good things. The service was a bit slow. But we realized as we walked out of the door that they closed at 9:30 not 10. We looked on Yelp and it showed 10 as the closing time. We went in at 9:00. So the server was cleaning. The food was very good! The shrimp cocktail is not what you would expect but was delicious! It was okay, def not very authentic. We went here because it was close to our destination. The servers were very friendly, and the service was very fast. The salsa had a little bit to much cilantro. My boyfriend ate the taco salad (which the beef didn't have much taste). The shell was great though. And I ate the shredded beef enchilada which was pretty bland. One thing I didn't like was they charged about $5.00 for some cheese dip. So it was okay, which is why I rated 3 stars. read more

This is my Honey's favorite Mexican restaurant & we come here so often, we know the owner by name! Great people! With that said, I believe in giving honest reviews & while the food is good, the service is always excellent, & the portions are more than sufficient...I've had better. The prices are very low for the amount of food you get, the fountain drinks/tea are in huge cups & free refills...the food is ok, but it's still worth returning several times a month & even special occasions! read more

Best Mexican restaurant in the south. Food is outstanding! I tried something I never had today, the Puff Taco. Flavor town galore. I have tried almost every item on their menu. The fajitas are fantastic, enchiladas superb, tortilla soup the best anywhere. My wife usually gets burritos or taco salad. She says both are so good she never tries other things, except from my plate. We have been coming here for some time. It is family owned and has had the same staff for a long time. We love their staff. Miguel is the best server of all time. Brenda and Maria have become like good friends. I wonder about people who gave this place low ratings. Are they just complainers? We have literally eaten here hundreds of times over the years and never had a bad meal. Also the salsa is epic. We took a friend and his family here who own a Mexican restaurant in St. Louis, MO and he said he always judges a rival restaurant by their salsa and El Paso's was phenomenal! read more

Steak fajita - steak was barely fit for dog food, fajita almost raw and soggy. Salsa way too watery. Rice was over seasoned and barely warm. Service is moody and without any enthusiasm. read more

Went here for lunch with Husband and Step Son. I got the Chicken Fajitas, no onions. It was seasoned well and cooked throughly. Very tasty! The Hubby had the chicken chimichanga and he wasn't impressed. The Step Son has the pork chop plate and he loved it! Our waiter was nice and kept our drinks full as well as chips. The chips were yummy with salsa and cheese dip. Cheese dip has a tang to it, chips have more lime to them and salsa on sweet side. I would try once more. read more

Our server wasn't overly friendly, but he took good care of us. I had fajitas, I wish they had given me more sour cream and guac, but I always wish that wherever I go. We used to brag about this place to everybody. Just came back home from eating what used to be our favorite. The double Chicken Burrito, one for me one for the wife. The kitchen changed the recipe. It used to have a cheesy flavor and lots of chicken chunks. Now, the thing is stuffed with shredded meat, not sure of it's origin, and it tasted just plain flat. I complained to one waiter and he shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I complained to our waiter and he says, next time order the beef. It's like steak. I said that I don't eat beef. The service was poor. We ordered drinks and appetizer. The waiter then disappeared. 20 minutes later the drinks arrived, but no appetizer. Another 15 minutes he brought the entrees AND the appetizer. When questioned about the entire order being served at one time, his comment was "that is the way it is". The appetizer was cold, the cooked portions. The staff performance was very bad. We moved to Foley in 2016 and came to El Paso many times. Brought a couple of friends on several occasions. Always had a great experience, but NOT this time. The place was recently renovated, very nice looking, but that's the ONLY nice thing I can say and it saddens me. At the start, the restaurant was VERY cold. I know it's winter time, but the host even mentioned that they did not have the heat on and it surprised him. Our companions were freezing as were my husband and myself. I had ordered the chicken taco salad bowl and my friends had ordered some kind of chicken dishes. When we FINALLY received our food, I noticed my taco bowl was beef, I do not eat beef and had specifically asked for chicken, the waiter even repeated my order.. I summoned the waiter, he looked on his ticket (not taking my word for it) and coyly said, "That's not a problem." No, not for you, but it certainly WAS a problem for me. Now my companions would be finished eating before I start. My taco salad came back fast, Why? It was VERY cold (as was my friend and her husband's meal) and had nothing in it, but lots of shredded lettuce, a tablespoon of cold chicken and about 5 diced tomato pieces. I ate as much as I could, but it was not digestible. My friends meals were ice cold also. All of this on top of the waiter being very unfriendly and unaccommodating. My friends received a %10 discount, so they ended up paying over $28 for 2 dishes they couldn't even eat. My taco salad had a coupon for it free, but they still took the coupon, even though I did not get the correct salad. I have eaten many chicken taco bowls from there many times and it would be piled high with chicken, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, beans, lettuce and be hot and delicious. Oh and to top it off, when we went to the register to pay, THEY DIDN'T HAVE CHANGE! Sadly, we will not be returning, for this was not just one bad thing, this was terrible heaped upon many bad events.. My husband is surprised I even gave them 1 star, but I HAD to select a star. read more
