We were visiting friends out in Seymour, and they took us to El Paso. At the risk of being too brief, it was a serviceable Mexican food experience. Nothing was great, but nothing was bad. Came here for dinner one night and was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering the restaurant it looks a little over-the-top trying to make it a Mexican style restaurant. I lived in Mexico for four years and I must've met I never saw a place that's decorated as this. It is very rustic looking and the have nice metal work stars that appear to be from San Miguel hanging from the ceiling. The hostess was the opposite of friendly. We were sat in one place that just wasn't what we needed with the little one and asked to be moved and you would have thought the world ended. Well we did get moved but not to her satisfaction. We were brought chips and salsa and our drink order was taken quickly. I ordered the big special dinner. It came on 2 plates and was a mountain of food. This dinner came complete with an enchilada, chili relleno, burrito , taco , chalupa, rice and beans. This ginormous amount of food was very good. This restaurant should be a 4 star. The wait service was good the food was excellent, so why the rating? The hostess made us almost leave with her attitude. Disgusting food! I don't recommend this place. One time we regretted our decision! My husband and I both had soggy food, that was either flavorless or terrible im taste. The meat's were even soggy! Ground beef, which was in everything on my husband's plate, was, in his description the texture of canned cat food. Watered out mush was another description. The sauces were poured on thick over everything and all tasted nasty, with little difference in flavors, except for a dark brown one that my husband said was worse yet. A shredded pork burrito had nothing inside but soggy meat that tasted bland with no seasoning. Not sure what was poured over the top, but it wasn't good. The soggy shredded chicken enchilada was flavorless and the sauce....not anything like enchilada sauce I've ever had. Even the crunchy taco shell was soggy on on side. Asked the waiter what a Tamal was and he said like a corn cake. Ummmmm...... that's not ehat Google days! The ambience was noisy and loud, between people talking and loudusic. read more

I have no idea how this restaurant doesn't have more 5 star reviews. Freaking amazing. The prices are soooooo good and even better is the food!!! Delicious flavors and so much food you can definitely split it for two people. The drinks were strong but super yummy. The lunch specials (cant beat those prices) were phenomenal. You spend more money at Taco Bell for disgusting food. Can't forget the service. We had such great service from everyone but especially from Juan G. He was so attentive and kind. My family and I stayed in the same town as the restaurant for 7 days and we went THREE TIMES. We were visiting some friends and they took us here. I can't say anything bad about this place. I got the fajitas special, steak and chicken they were delicious, also the onions and bell peppers that came on the skillet were really good. My wife got the enchiladas verdes they were good, they had a sweet flavor to them. Our friend got the avocado veggie wrap and she loved it. Well, we were attracted by its #1 rating among Mexican restaurants in area and its 4 stars. These Yelpers are obviously not from SoCal :-) Ok, ok, to be fair living in Chula Vista (San Diego) 8 miles from the border has spoiled us to plenty good, authentic Mexican food. We normally know better than to try Mexican good while traveling. When our hosts insist on taking us to eat Mexican food (probably thinking they are doing us a favor knowing we live so close to the border :-) we have learned to order fajitas because it's pretty hard to mess up fajitas :-) But based on reviews, and seeing Hispanic staff upon entering, I ventured out and ordered the combo ~ Taco, enchilada, wet burrito, Chile relleno. Nice decor, great theme, very extensive menu, pretty good value, but food mediocre & bland at best. Taco had a Taco Bell style shell & ingredients (actually Taco Bell's is better :-) The enchilada & burrito were pretty good. The refried beans were puréed, maybe the same as their bean dip, which was good as bean dip. Rice unremarkable. Chips plain. Salsa gringo style. Guacamole unflavored. The Chile Relleno was something like I've never seen. Consider myself a chili relleno aficionado (best in world is at El Patio for past 59 yrs by the way in Chula Vista). This one was a big blob of ground beef I guess (texture of Jack in Box 'taco meat' :-), with melted cheese over it, and a small chili smaller than your little finger stuck in the middle. No joke. I've never seen anything like it, and I've had chili rellenos across the the country & beyond (Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Rosarito Beach, Ensenada, Tijuana, etc). Service was adequate although I did go without a drink refill for a while which is tough when you're eating spicy food. Kids' meals with a drink are just $4 on Saturdays with other specials on different days. The portions were large. Outdoor seating available. Our waitress took forever to come over to our table to say hello let alone let us order drinks. And started walking away while I was still ordering my drink.
