This is hands down our favorite place to get caldo de res. Food is always authentic, fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is very pleasant with bold, colorful Mexican art on the walls. Me and my family went to go eat there today for father's day worst ever! The food had no flavor the waitress we had her name was Beatrice was very rude she told my sister to hurry up and Order her food. My sister was very upset with her menudo had no flavor she ordered a side of rice to put in her menudo the rice came after she was already done with her Menudo. I order carne asada chips, it hardly had no carne asada before I ordered it I told her I just want sour cream and cheese, and I asked her was there beans in the carne asada chips and she tells me no comes back with my plate with onions on it and a bunch of beans. The guidance of the chips were not good at all nothing but pure beans and cheese. I asked to speak to the manager and she said there was no manager available she already had left for the day. The customer service is excellent, friendly, and very attentive. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor. We had the " enchiladas oh so good," more like -okay good; and the potato tacos. Both of these items were on their signature plates menu. The potato tacos were good, and portions were hearty. Again, it lacked flavor. I had a mango margarita, and it was delicious!. I grew up eating at this place. The food was always fantastic. The staff knew you and were kind and welcoming. Recently, my mom and I went there for lunch and we were a little disappointed. First, the menu has changed significantly and now dinner is only served in the evening. Lame. Luckily, the meal I wanted was on the lunch menu. Also, the restaurant doesn't feel as warm or as welcoming as before. Our waitress was rude and seemed to be more concerned with getting us in and out than anything else. The food: definitely didn't disappoint. I had the shredded beef burrito with sauce, rice and beans. It was as tasty as ever. My mom enjoyed her plate as well (ground beef enchiladas? YUM!). Bottom line: if you've never been there before, you won't know what you're missing and you'll get a good meal. Came here on a Sunday. Food was exceptional I have no complaints in that department. The restaurant was full we waited about 10 minutes for a table but unfortunately they didn't have enough staff. There was 2 waitresses and 2 bus boys everyone was working their tail off but you would think that they would be prepared for this type of activity on a Sunday. Because of the lack of staff we did have to ask several times for extra napkins and had to wait a while for a refill on coffee and water. I don't blame the staff because they did a great job servicing everyone as as soon as they could. I do however blame Management for not preparing for more staff on a busy Sunday. My fiancé and I like to try new places, we recently moved into the neighborhood and thought we would give this place a try. We were in no way shape or form disappointed. We got a pitcher of margaritas . The food was good too. We will for sure be back. The only thing I don't like is when the appetizer comes out with the rest of the food and that did happen. Other than that service was great. The waiter allowed us to enjoy our meal and didn't ask us 100 times if we need anything, but at the same time we were given everything we needed to enjoy. Love eating here. I only go mainly for the bean and cheese wet burritos that's the reason why I go. Today I decided to order it to go after work. I had placed the order over the phone to be picked up at a specific time after work. The server Lety was also the hostess. She was also rude. I go in I don't get a hello or a welcome all I got was lety yelling at the kitchen staff, " the guy for the burrito is here!" In Spanish. She finishes checking out the customer before me (still no hello) she back and fourth to the register until finally she gets to me and tells me my total because to her I'm still the guy that's here for the burrito. Signed my name on the receipt, she brings my food, I say thank you, and the completely ignores me to attend the other customer at the booth. As if I myself wasn't a customer to here. This was a favorite place to go in the past with friends and family but I don't think I'll be going there again when lety is being the hostess/ server/ receptionist day. read more

The Chili Colorado is the best I have ever had in my life! This is an old school Mexican Restaurant and a legend in Chula Vista.

I went to this restaurant yesterday with my wife and our licensed service dog. The host seemed to be put off by the fact we had a service animal, even though our dog is exceptionally well trained and in a stroller. There clearly was booths and tables available but did not want to offer them. There was a table in the back that had some boxes on it but my wife and I didn't mind and it was out of the way, thought the young man host told us the table was 'closed' and we can place our dog next to the wall and sit at the booth about 12ft away. I explained our dog has to be near us, that's the whole point of a service animal to maintain and monitor. This seemed to be lost on the young man. When I explained this he said we would have to wait for the main central tables to be finished to sit down which looked like it would be about 30-45min as people were in the beginning of their meal. We decided on walking out. I recommend all who read this post to ban any patronage to this local, which clearly does not support service animals or people with disabilities! read more

My family and I have been there twice within the last two months. Chips and salsa are great , the food is not. Overated and overpriced. The service is slow. The tortilla of my crispy tacos was so hard, I think they were made from old corn tortillas. The taco was 80% lettuce and 20% meat. The service? I give it one star. We had to wave to a waitress for refills twice, and to get the bill and pay was another ordeal. I think they are understaffed. I think the food is catered to their loyal clients from way back then. I have eaten mexican food for 53 years and I can assure you this is more like Tex-Mex food comparable to the big chain of El Torito's restaurants. Would I be going there again? I think NOT. There are too many "mom and pop" mexican restaurants where the tortillas and salsa are freshly made on site and within sight. read more

Horrible service! I used to like coming here but after last weekend's experience I will not be returning. My family and I were ignored the whole time we were there. Our waitress didn't check up on us at all. As we were finally seated we didn't have any silverware or napkins, my husband had to get up a couple of times from our table just to get someone to notice us. No refills were offered to us or anything. If we wanted something it seemed like we had to get up and walk to the back and get someone to help us. Our food finally came and tortillas were included with the plate however I ordered flour and my husband ordered corn and the waitress didn't explain to us that both were mixed together in the tortilla warmer, we finally started to eat and here I'm trying to enjoy my food and make the best of this experience and then I noticed a hair on my plate! We finally were able to get the waitress attention and I showed her my plate and pointed the hair to her and she didn't seem to care. I was so upset with her whole attitude. I didn't receive any apologies or anything after that we asked for our bill paid in full and left. I even left a very small tip but I should've not left her anything! I didn't cause a scene or anything I was as polite and professional as I could be but this experience is unacceptable and ridiculous! It seems like your restaurant and staff don't care how you treat your customers and their families. We received very poor service and I'm sad that this place changed for the worst! read more
